Do you guys think Carlton should considering McKay with pick 8? (Assuming we don't get pick 12) as although he should probably go at mid teens we really need someone to fill that full forward/ pinch ruckman role. I guess if we can snag Tomilson today it would be alright!

Weideman can pinch ruck too mate. Didn't show too much, but he can do it. And I rate him a much better fwd prospect than McKay. But either would be pretty decent for Carlton.

Looking into it I don't think Weideman will fall too 8, although he isn't a top ten pick in my opinion it's what clubs are looking for.

What happened to that (Blake?) Hardwick guy? I remember people were going off tap about him earlier in the year.

What are your guys thoughts on:
Balic
Clarke
Gresham

Will any be amazing players!? (I know it's a bit early to tell)
Just heard talk about Carlton looking into them and was wondering if any will be that good!?

I still love him. Nige really rates him too. Would be really good for Tiges, but he wont make it to 52, and isn't worth it at 12.

I can see him going anywhere from 25-60... Depending on the clubs needs. North 26/28 could really use him. But likely to go Early to Mid 3rd round mate.

Balic - Big chance to make it. Would def be a great choice at 11 if available.
Clarke - Could make the cut, shows plenty of promise, 19 a big possibility for him.
Gresham - Most likely, shows all the signs of a great player, could be a chance at 19 too.

1. Weitering (best defender of all time)
8. Milera (will be better than Chad :o)
11. Balic
19. Collins/McKay hopefully one is available.

That's what I hope we do in the draft.

Schade, Parish, Francis, Curnow and Weideman will all be gone by 8 I reckon!

Ringo

Trying to get an idea of how the live draft will work.

So I will use Lions as an example.

Say Carlton bid for Ben Keays at Pick 11 - We would have to use picks with a points value of 1063 (1329 less the 20% discount) to match the bid. We use picks 38, 39 and portion of 40.

So that means we select Keays with Pick 11
Carlton then has another selection at Pick 12 and teams with picks below 40 will move up the order by 2 picks as we have used 2 picks to match the bid.

So with a number of Father/Son and academy picks to play out teams with picks in the 50s may be having picks in the late 30's and 40's or have I got it wrong.

It means you lose those selections you gave up for him and Carlton will draft an available player at 11. So the team at pick 41 will pick at 39 live while you get a later pick for the portion of 40 you used.

Ringo

I know we lose selections but my query is Keays pick 11 or Pick 38 first of the picks we gave up for him. I was of the opinion he remains at 11 and Carlton pick another player making their pick 12 but could be wrong with my interpretation.

Keays will be pick 11 and everyone gets pushed back one spot. The Dogs have pick 20 but it'll be pick 25 on draft night once Keays, Hipwood, Kennedy, Hopper and Mills get inserted into the order.

However all picks where teams like GWS/Lions/Swans have had to use academy selections they move up X amount of spots. It's all relative in the end.

I'll be a little annoyed if Essendon draft two utilities... Hope we take one of Francis/Curnow and Balic seeing as Parish is now out of our reach (flowering Melbourne)

Francis is easily the best available at 4. Would rather get a KPF in Weid/Curnow this year and a midfielder next. Either way, pick 5 will probably go to a guy who isn't normally a top 5 pick but fills a need nicely.

Are these the correct value of the point? - I'm skeptical because it cuts off at pick 74

According to this chart picks 1, 2, or 3 could outbid Sydney for Mills (Sydney 2,179 pts - again had to cut off at #74)

Are the Swans aware of this? Because the way I see it Weitering, Schache, & Parish are all locked into the top 3 or are they actually taking a risk - I don't see why clubs would want to take Mills when he is an academy player and spent his life as a Swan

http://www.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/biddingsystemfeedback.pdf

GWS - 3,267 pts (again had to cut off at #74) - pick 1 is 3000 pts
Brisbane - 2,147 pts (had to cut off at #74) - pick 3 is 2,234 pts

It looks like Brisbane should easily land Keays and with Hipwood it would depend on the bid (pick 2 points not counted because the pick has been designated for Schache)

GWS may face a contest for Hopper & Kennedy (and it's obviously why they have come prepared) as both could have bids between picks 4-10 (they are lucky there is a lot of KPP talent in this draft which is incredibly rare - teams would prefer to take a talented KPP prospect over a bid for a midifielder)

I think all these players will find there clubs

Swans aren't taking a risk. If they have 2179 points only pick 1 is worth more than that after the 20% discount. Even if a bid comes at pick 1 they can go into debt and make up the remaining points next year.

Forgot about the discount, all teams are golden then

Lions managed to snare picks 38-42 (after pick 2, this is where the bulk of their points are)
