Freo supporters-Why not Mundy?

I am pretty keen on bringing in David Mundy for Gaz as I like the big bodied mids and Fyfe attracts the number 1 tag.
Looking at last year he has shown he can score well but why does he have the lower scoring games?
His kick to handball ratio has been close to 1:1 every year which is pretty good. His efficiency looks a lot better than Barlow's in the 2 games this year. Fremantle actually look to be playing pretty attacking football too.
Give me some reasons not to pick him!

RaisyDaisy

Has a career high average of 107 in a season

Yes he can churn out some big scores, like he has in the first 2 games, but he isn't getting any younger so you'd have to think the likelihood of him averaging 115+ this year is low

Could be a serviceable M8, but I think there are plenty of players ahead of him that I'd want

good player but id go barlow over mundy.

Mundy has been tagged in the past and doesn't fare well. Him and Hill get the tags most often so you will get the bad with the good.

Fyfe and Hill will get the tags. Mundy is at least third in line, possibly even further back.

looked at him as POD over JPK or Sloane for GAZ trade with extra cash.     Cannot seeing him go past 105 average based on history.  This is 15 points per game lower than a JPK, Pendles or Sloan.  Remember it is SC and not a live football team.  Has to be a rational basis on how player will get more points than someone else and/or generate more cash than someone else.   Other options have more upside or less downside.

He's only 29 man, not that old  :P

His form (albeit from 2 games) is as good as 2011 when he averaged 107.

Won't cop attention because the tags go to Hill and now more so to Fyfe and is in a team which will win a lot more than they lose.

I don't mind him as an option - I'm not going to pick him in SC but could easily see him go around 110-115, which at his price is as good an option as a Swallow or Griffen.

and actually averaged 116 in 2011 if you take out his game where he was injured and subbed out in the very first quarter

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I was hoping to hear from you Ric.
How do you see him going this year?
Have there been any changes made by Ross and the team that may benefit him?
Why do you think he has had those low games?

Hey man, there's a fair bit on uncertainty around a few boys atm

Firstly on Barlow. Last year when he hurt his knee we used him as a high half fwd that pushed up very high into the midfield. Now he's coming off an ankle which I've heard is still very very sore and he's lost a fair bit of lateral movement atm. This means he's getting a lot of uncontested footy and isn't starting in the middle as much. Expect that to change a little over the next month or so

Neale will continue to develop and will get given time in the middle, but I reckon he's a year away yet.

Hill has developed his game even further and last year he showed what he always has but consistently did it. He has grown again and looking at another big year.

and Fyfe just keeps developing...

So then that leaves Mundy, he trained a bit off halfback in the preseason so there's a good chance we could see that at some points during the season. In the past (pre 2014) just about all of his poor scores have mainly been due to copping tags. And last year Fyfe didn't play RD3 so Mundy copped the tag, he was subbed the next game through injury as well. Both brought his average down from 105 to 102. Then there's that terrible Saints game where they belted us and he scored 56.

Basically he certainly has the potential to average 110+ and will see less and less attention now as Fyfe and Hill will demand it. But whether or not he does it, I'm not sure

Thanks heaps Ric!

The decision for me is Mundy and Bont($23,000) vs Sloane and Van Berlo($162,000). I see Bont as a forward keeper.
I can afford Sloan and Rich($29,300) but Rich isn't a keeper.
I can also afford Danger and Bont($4,600) but I believe Danger's bash and crash style and the tag he attracts affects his score. I like Mundy better, although most probably wouldn't.

Interested to hear what you guys think!

I'd go Sloane and van Berlo mate. VB is almost a must now as a solid rookie and Sloane should sit around the same 115ish average. I like Danger as a pick though and don't think you could go wrong between him or Sloane

Freo playing the last game of the round will most likely make my trigger finger far too itchy so might not take the risk.
Tough decision to make still.

Jesty

This is Freos year all players seem to of found a bit extra. The boys down back the boys up forward and the mids are all pretty hard to beat. I reckon Mundy to avg 110 and Freo wins the flag. :)
I think the only thing that will stop us is if big Pav goes down at some point.

StuL

Got Fyfe and one premo per team is enough usually.
