Quite a few problems that must be resolved. Quickly! Our thoughts, votes and a glance to next week.

Give us some feedback, and will we beat Gold Coast?

'Where is [team] at?', thought I was on BigFooty for a moment. ;)
I expect the Cats to absolutely thump the GC this week, the largest margin of the week. Gold Coast have been heavily reliant on GAJ their entire existence, well he is hurt and they have broken continuity by sacking Bluey which has more or less ruined the chance they had at becoming a cohesive and competitive side with or without Football Jesus.

The Cats are not as bad as they have looked the last two weeks! I'd still pick them for the 8.

Hahah ;)
Some big calls there mate! Geelong certainly have some deficiencies atm, how they counter those or how they are exposed against weaker opposition could prove vital. Yes GC have a huge reliance and I agree we have been found wanting against two top four sides. But we have plenty to fix in our own backyards.

If you lose this week, finals out of the question?
Yes. Saw a stat eariler today, but only a couple of teams have made finals after starting the season 0-3

shorty3264

If we were to lose to an Ablettless Gold Coast who are desperately out of form, on our home ground. I think finals would be way out of the thought process. I think we've played two top four sides in full swing in the opening two rounds, we can't match it with them anymore. But as I said pre-season, I still think we can be a 5-10 side. But these important early wins could decide whether it is fifth... or tenth..

Mailman the 2nd

They can still make the finals if they go 0-3. Sydney managed to finish 1st from being 1-3 (essentially the same) so to finish in the 5-8 bracket isn't beyond them. They faced two top 4 sides who would expect to beat Geelong considering where they're at

Pretty big talent drop off at the moment around the center of the ground.

1. Selwood
2. Johnson(who is pretty loose consistency wise)
3. Then who?

Duncan goes alright, Caddy, Guthrie, Stokes, Horlin-Smith just aren't in that top bracket of players. Over the last year and a half they haven't been compensating enough for the drop off in load from guys like Bartel, Kelly, Enright etc.

Hit the nail on the head mate. Not sure if you've seen many of our videos. But the midfield is basically where we have pinpointed as our weakness. We need a lift from Duncan, GHS, Caddy, Guthrie and to a lesser extent Lang, Jansen. Motlop next to take the next step also, which he looked to be heading twowards in rd 1.

I actually remember watching a couple of your videos at the middle of last year actually, might try check them out more often

Don't know what is going on with the Cats...

That game against the Suns was shocking. I don't think they will make finals if this continues. They are playing too many rookies in my opinion (good thing in the long term) but their players in the middle-tier don't seem to be rising to the occasion (barring Motlop who has been phenomenal - Duncan & Caddy have been abysmal - Duncan was fantastic last year so I don't know what is going on with him. Horlin-Smith needs to lift as well). Once these middle-tier players/future leaders start playing at the standard they are expected to, the Cats will be fine again.

I don't think it's a problem with Mitch Clark, he has been doing quite well - considering the fact he missed all of last season

Definitely will be interesting to see how Chris Scott tackles the perceived issues, because he did not look happy with the way the game went

Capper

struggled today with the 2 injuries and celebrated like they beat a tough team.

Mailman the 2nd

They had three players taken out, all 3 of them are in their top 10 players as well.

Scoreline flattered Gold Coast a lot. Geelong should've won by about 30

I don't know, the only difference between the two teams was that Geelong don't have any shower players. Matthew Shaw is just horrible, I don't know why the Suns still have him tbh - can't even back himself from 25-30 metres out.

I agree Capper, it was a win, but nothing to celebrate over - esp. considering both the Saints & Demons demolished them with Ablett (& the Saints didn't have a home ground advantage)
