Never done one of these before but thought it might be a good idea to do one this season!
Started the season off decently, still up around the normal pack of most people so Im happy enough. Really keen to do well overall so happy to burn trades early if its the right move.

Round 1 Team Score 2092

DEF: Heater, Newnes, Lumumba, Goodes, McIntosh, Saad (Brown, Oxley)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Sloane, JPK, Wells, Vandenberg, Cripps (CEY, Miller, Sheed)
RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)
FWD: Dusty, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, Steele)

Biggest mistake was picked Steele over McGrath in a panic after Lamb was chosen sub.
Looking to do 1 trade to bring in McGrath
Option 1: Steele to McGrath
Option 2: Sheed to McGrath moving Steele to mids and loopholing Cripps and CEY, then going Steele to corrective rookie Rnd 2

Which trade do we like, im leaning towards option 2 but unless Sheed is sub then Option 1 is probs smarter. Loopholing Cripps is really appealing to me to maximise points and because I am very confident that Ill want to bring in a Heeney/NVB/Brayshaw at Sheeds expense anyway

Mat0369

Interestingly enough Sheed lasted another week otherwise I would have 100% gone with that move.

Yeh I was expecting him to be dropped for Brant Colledge or whatever his name is, apparently tore it up in reserves. Hopefully he is sub lol otherwise Ill just go Option 1 and field cripps

YoungGun

Change of plans now that Cripps is a late out

Gone option 2 except it is now Cripps > McGrath and loopholing Sheed and CEY through Steele

Expected trades next week are Sheed and Miller out for the likes of Jong/NVB/Newton/Brayshaw/Heeney

Round 2 Score 2356
Weekly Rank 500
Overall Rank 665

DEF: Heater, Newnes, Lumumba, Oxley, McIntosh, Saad (Brown, Goodes)
MID: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Sloane, JPK, Wells, Vandenberg, Sheed (CEY, Miller, Steele)
RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)
FWD: Dusty, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, McGrath)

Very happy with the weeks score and the big jump in the overall rankings from 14k to top 1k. Loopholing Sheed was good on friday night but then CEY went out and smashed Sheeds score anyway, oh well  ::)

Headaches going into round 3 are what to do with Gaz and Goodes. Thinking ill hold both, Gazza will still be a top 8 mid IMO

Expected trades are; Steele to NVB and Wells to Rich. Could be persuaded to grab Wallis instead of Rich but Rich's DT to SC ratio is very appealing to me and managing to get 100 in an absolute belting from the Kangas is hard to ignore

WordWeb

I agree on holding Gazza, a champion player will always come back fighting.

Now with the news on Gazza things have to change and one decision has been doing my head in.

Steele to NVB is still a lock as first trade but now the second trade has to be Gazza and as I already have 4 gun super premos I'm keen to wait and see who the next best 4 will be as I think its still too early to know

Option 1: Gazza to Gray and have 161k in the kitty. Nice and simple, safe. Gray is easily a super premo fwd and will swing him down there later on in the season

Option 2: If im getting rid of Gazza then gaining 2 "premiums" would be nice. Gazza to The Bont this week and then Goodes to Smith next week. This all hinges on if The Bont is a premium fwd. I don't want to get caught up in the hype of 2 games but he is an incredible player, fyfe averaged 100+ second year and he has laid a mountain of tackles which should mean he has a high floor. Worst case scenario The Bont should be a good F6 yeh? Thats what I need to convince myself of

If Brodie Smith is omitted because of his concussion last week then I think I will go for Option 2. But still very unsure

Bully

I'm probably going to do the same thing, hopefully Smith doesn't play and remains on his starting price. The bottom line is Goodes could cause massive problems if a defender is rested or omitted, the prospect of fielding Brown is way too risky. Brodie Smith will be a top 6 defender, Bonts will probably be a top 10 forward with scope to be in the top 6. At worst he becomes a stepping stone to a fallen premo if his form radically drops off over the next 3 weeks.

YoungGun

yeh i agree Bully, Brodie Smith is easily a top defence premium which makes it appealing. If I go option 2 then gotta stick with the Bont the whole way I reckon. But I think he will be at worst a servicable forward. If it all flops then he will be an emergency premium that can swing fwd or mid which means he can still be useful. In saying this I dont see him having many games less than 80 if he keeps his tackling up which would be great. Also, so many people have jumped on! Means its slightly less risky than it would normally be

Yes, having a swingman on the bench is very handy, particularly over the bye period.

Round 3 Score 2103
Weekly Rank 26,635
Overall Rank 1,029

DEF: Heater, Newnes, Lumumba, Oxley, McIntosh, Saad (Brown, Goodes)
MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Sloane, JPK, Gray, CEY, NVB, Vandenberg (Wells, Miller, Sheed)
RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)
FWD: Dusty, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, McGrath)

So pretty interesting week and not a good one for me. Traded Gaz to Gray and Robbie did not put out what I would have liked. JPK put in an absolute stinker and alot of the rookies got in the 60's which isn't bad just adds together for a poor score. Wells was a late out and unfortunately I was out and about so wasn't able to whack the C on him to keep Sloane's 140 VC score, 33 points lost there. At least CEY was the sub so Wells was replaced with a good score

Happy my overall rank only dropped about 400 places, I was fearing I might have dropped a bit further however now a big 400 points behind the pace setters

No big headaches other than Goodes, will just sit tight and have another look at it when teams are released. Possibly Goodes to WhiteX. Planning to wait for Krak/Tarrant to be on the bubble and downgrade someone to him/them and then use those funds to trade one of Hogan/Salem/Clark/Lonie/McGrath up to perhaps Goddard if he has bottomed out. Only issue is nobody will mooed as much as Id like before those boys will be on the bubble but getting upgrades done quickly is the number one priority at this point.

YoungGun

Probably looking to just hold goodes, hope he gets dropped. Toying with the idea of Wells to Bont. Been comparing a lot of stats between Bonts and Pendles, Fyfe, Dusty, Wingard and think he has the potential to go 100+ and be a fwd keeper. Which brings me to the idea that even though Wells hasnt done anything will I in the future be able to move him on for a premium for only 60k? I highly doubt it. Wells to the Bont as my only trade this week is warming on me

With Wells not being named I have locked in the Wells to Bont trade and am feeling good about it. Hopefully goodes is dropped and he can just warm D8 for me. Contemplating getting rid of McGrath this week (infuriating considering I traded him in and now out for basically nothing) because I like the idea of getting on 3 bubbles boy next week Krak, Tarrant (was originally in my team until he wasnt named) and possibly whiteX. However the idea of being down to 23 trades after 5 rounds isn't a good thought. Getting krak a week early would affectively allow me to field vandenberg instead of salem.

EDIT: Gray out hurts, so far 2 of my 3 trades have not worked out at all.

Round 4 Score 2050
Weekly Rank 24,527
Overall Rank 1,353

DEF: Heater, Newnes, Lumumba, Oxley, McIntosh, Saad (Brown, Goodes)
MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Sloane, JPK, Bontempelli, CEY, NVB, Vandenberg (Gray, Miller, Sheed)
RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)
FWD: Dusty, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, McGrath)

Really disappointed with how I've scored in the last two rounds but I was expecting these two bad weeks would be a worse drop in the overall rankings than it has, 1353 leaves me still in a good position and hopefully the next couple of weeks will be kind to me. Sloane and NVB didn't quite do enough for me to get 2100+ but my defence was horrendous averaging 54.5 LOL not really knowing who the best defenders will be I'm happy to just sit tight and wait it out. B. Smith will come into the side over the next month

Very keen to get on both Krak and Tarrant. Even though McGrath (Cripps to McGrath what an F'n genius I am) and NVB have been 2 of my 3 trade ins so far these are the 2 that i'll be getting rid of unless something crazy happens between now and team selection time.

That leaves me with $300k in the kitty so that next week I can go Salem to Dangerfield and switch the Bont fwd. Really hoping Danger has a quietish game against port so he is ready to explode against the Suns, GWS and the Saints.

Any thoughts? This has probably been the most "clear cut" week for trades I've had, Krak and Tarrant are simply must haves IMO

RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)

Finally back to some good scoring! Had some great scores and overall happy with the weeks results. Bennell pulled his first big score which is nice and locking in Pendles loophole friday was great. Used goodes to loophole Browns 85 but lost some points fielding melbourne rookies which I was originally worried about. Lost 25 going vanders over touk and lost 47 going hoges over lonie but can't win em all

Looking at a single upgrade this week, Salem to Dangerfield using The Bonts dpp
