Can't complain about my reserves but I wish my seniors were as consistent...

Youngest side in the comp, still 6th :3

PNL and Marseilles both doing their job at the top ends 8).

Spread the depth around. We only had 19 play on the weekend.

I'm really liking the evolution of the game... we now have 18 well run and committed teams!

Basically we're at the half way point of the season.... And I think 14 teams are in finals contention

2012 Ladder
Position   Name   Score   Scored Against   Wins   Loses   Percentage
1   Sao Paulo Pumas   2620   2236   16   1   117.17
Gone. Rio are currently 14th, Christchurch currently 2nd

2   Mexico City Suns   2493   2197   15   2   113.47
Suns a picture of consistency, only dropped 2 spots to 4th, and are the only team remaining to be in the top 4 every year (I'm writing Buenos Aires off already)

3   Cape Town Cobras   2469   2275   13   4   108.53
Slipped from these highs, but still very competitive, currently 12th on the way up

4   Buenos Aires Armadillos   2336   2220   11   6   105.23
Crashed and burned to 17th

5   Wellington Warriors   2344   2256   11   6   103.90
Fell to the bottom, dispanded, and now Rio/Christchurch look to improve

6   Beijing Bears   2348   2317   10   7   101.34
Free fall after this to the bottom of the table the next two years, now recovering well currently 9th

7   Moscow Spetsnaz   2272   2281   10   7   99.61
Very consistent team, currently 6th, always that one step away from greatness. Made the top 4 in 2013 but went out in straight sets.

8   Toronto Wolves   2391   2300   9   8   103.96
Toronto have always been around this mark, but are looking to make that next step into the top 4.

9   Seoul Magpies   2453   2375   9   8   103.28
4th highest scoring team of this year, missed by a very slender percentage margin. Struggling now in the bottom 4.

10   London Royals   2192   2211   7   10   99.14
Always been middle of the range, and still are! Guaranteed 4 points against Dublin every year though.

11   New Delhi Tigers   2127   2265   7   10   93.91
This represented New Delhi's peak. Poor New Dehli.

12   Pacific Islanders   2141   2287   7   10   93.62
For the first time, the Islanders are in finals contention this year, currently 10th.

13   Tokyo Samurai   2256   2356   6   11   95.76
Tokyo have been around this mark for a while, but a pushing for finals this week

14   Cairo Sands   2187   2311   6   11   94.63
Cairo had a couple of decent to good years! But are now on track for worst season ever

15   Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers   2267   2334   5   12   97.13
From bottom 4 to top 4 shot....

16   Berlin Brewers   2170   2298   5   12   94.43
Currently the 2nd highest scoring team.....

17   New York Eagles   2082   2291   4   13   90.88
Having a career best season

18   Dublin Destroyers   1997   2335   2   15   85.52
From worst team by far to best team by far....

Great stuff oz.

An aside; I love how this game as lasted long enough to have a history. It's arguably my favourite aspect about Worlds.

Yep, 2012 wasn't a great year  :-\ I remember James Magner was my permanent M4 for most of it   :( But Buddy averaging 110 was certainly good

im less than 600 points from beating my 2012 total score and still more than half the season to go. Should knock that up in 4-5 games.

2nd highest scored against :(

After Round 9...

Berlin only just still the second highest scoring team (at 11th  :'(), with PNL just behind and Mexico City charging at 4th. I argue that justice should be served if I was at Christchurch's position :P

Cape Town are now 9th! What a turnaround!

The final 5 rounds start Round 13 (AFL Round 15), which was specifically designed to have the top 6 from last year play each other, the middle 4 from last year + Rio + Christchurch play each other, and the bottom 6 play each other.

So.... that puts a bit of perspective on the ladder

Top 6

1   Dublin Destroyers   1464   1201   8   1   121.9
3   Paris Nice Lyon Reindeers   1309   1196   7   2   109.45
4   Mexico City Suns   1301   1166   6   3   111.58
5   Moscow Spetnaz   1274   1228   6   3   103.75
9   Cape Town Cobras   1222   1239   5   4   98.63
16   Buenos Aires Armadillos   999   1123   2   7   88.96

Ok, let's be honest - they will each get a win agains Buenos Aires. So for Buenos Aires that win last week against Cairo was crucial, because they've had (along with the other top 6) a relatively weak draw, and they aren't likely to get many more wins. As none of these teams have played each other yet.

Cape Town's return to form is great, but they really needed it - they have 4 matches against Dublin, Mexico City, PNL and Moscow still to come. The others are more or less on par.

Middle

2   Christchurch Saints   1262   1133   7   2   111.39
6   Toronto Wolves   1238   1191   5   4   103.95
11   Berlin Brewers   1310   1248   4   5   104.97
13   London Royals   1234   1212   4   5   101.82
15   Rio de Janeiro Jaguars   1228   1251   3   6   98.16
17   Cairo Sands   1120   1243   1   8   90.1

Christchurch are doing very well to sit in 2nd spot, with only one Top 6 (Mexico City) to come... they are very much in the box seat for a surprise top 4 finish (though they still have a Sao Paulo DNA in them).

Cairo can start to panic, as they already have. Rio are getting a bit behind themselves, but overall - the middle teams are spread across the spectrum. Much like you'd expect. If any one of these teams can get 5 wins from these 5 games, they are a shot at the top 4.

Bottom 6

7   New York Revolution   1259   1265   5   4   99.53
8   Tokyo Samurai   1199   1215   5   4   98.68
10   Beijing Thunder   1224   1257   5   4   97.37
12   Pacific Islanders   1236   1209   4   5   102.23
14   Seoul Magpies   1154   1227   4   5   94.05
18   New Delhi Tigers   901   1330   0   9   67.74

The good news for these teams is that the worst is almost over. And I think New York, Tokyo, Beijing and Pacific particularly have put themselves in a great position for a surprise finals spot. The last 5 rounds between these teams will be crucial (all the Asian teams are here, so the Asian Cup also on the line!). Any team with a 6-7 ot 7-6 record going into round 13 will fancy themselves to defeat these other 'like' teams and to make the finals.

Purple 77

I'm actually not at all confident at making the finals, and that makes me pretty pissed off tbh.

Great work btw oz.

Memphistopheles

Couple of big weeks coming up for us against Beijing and New York who are teams around us on the ladder.

If we can beat them we then have New Delhi and Buenos Aires before the hard matches start so we should get a couple of wins from those fixtures.

I'd love it if we could be 9-4 heading in to that final patch of the season. Going to be tough to make Top 4 with this run in but we're quietly confident.

PS - We have noticed that we play Buenos Aires in Round 13 and then Dublin in Round 14. Could be a big rest candidate for our Rd 13 match. Especially as Dublin play PNL in Rd 13 so they might not want to rest anyone...

Nah, let them be complacent and then sedate their egos with a win.  8)
