Shiels is out, Jedi's spot is safe for now.
@TravKing_AFL: .@HawthornFC midfielder Liam Shiels to miss 3-4 weeks with hamstring strain.

That sounds good for Jed, but Birchall comes in this week and I cant see anyone besides Jed getting dropped

Durryea maybe? Although he played most games last year

So it's Shiels out and Birch in, Jed to get the vest again.

RaisyDaisy

That sounds like the most likely of options

any chance birch will come through box hill?

I would just like to know how, in a league with a hard salary cap, Hawthorn has such a massive talent advantage over so many other clubs. Does their ownership just use Jedi mind tricks to convince their players to take 50% less than they should be earning?

Very low chance I would've thought. He said last week on radio that he could've played against Geelong but they gave him an extra week to be safe.

Any chance that Birch in Shiels out means Jed will avoid the vest and it will go to Duryea?

There is a chance but I think Jed will still get it sadly :-\

I should add that surely they won't keep giving it to Anderson, it'll starve him of too much match practice and stall his development. Starting to think that maybe I should have stuck with him over the Cock :(

I reckon he will start on the ground later in the season with injuries/players being rested but he wont be much good to us then haha

I think he'll be dropped to the VFL rather than get full games in the seniors

I'll still back in the Cock for now - Tough gig playing Hawthorn first up in front of 70k and getting belted by 60 points. I think he'll do better without so much pressure

Premierships are a hell of a drug.

A second tier midfield with the likes of Hartung and O'Rourke still to cycle through the 22 this year, Jed's won't start in the vest for half of his games at least. Non issue, 3 man bench, just roll 'em around.

smashbox

O'Rourke in means Jedi surely will get a full game, with O'rourke being sub
