Ruckmen scoring low! Perhaps it's not a good idea to outlay 600k+ for Jacobs etc

Anyone thinking Blicavs could become an option? Cheep and is starting to win the footy. Not only playing as a ruckman but as a half back and sometimes even up on a wing. I have spent so much on mummy godly combo and if thi ha don't change this week am thinking of swapping to Blicavs belly and pocketing plenty to bolster other positions

Ive got blicavs / nic nat combo, watched the game and i dont see any reason why the blitz cant average 85-90 playing the way he did. basically playing through the midfield and loose man in defense is a traditional recipe for decent scores, especially with the change of points from HOTA.

Trading down from a premo to a midpricer is utter madness.  You're just going to trade them back in 10 rounds time for 100k less.

I've got Mummy and Goldy as well. But not concerned yet, I picked them because I thought they would be the best, so I picked them to keep and that's what I'll do.      :-\

Exactly. If their scores are down - yet still higher than the rest - you got what you paid for!

I have Maric/NN and Belly at F4, am seriously considering a Maric downgrade to Luey thinking i can use that money to move a Wells/Lumumba/Newnes up to a premo keeper next week after i have had 2 games to assess. Don't think id be doing this if a didnt Have Belly in FWDS though. For me actually having 3 Rucks could really hurt me if they are 10-20+ points down per game, Has me thinking that Marics HOTA will rise from 12% or w/e but he may not have the same contested possies count each week either so if he has a good year at what would have been 105-110 i may actually be looking at 90-95 which would put him around 480-500k

The new rules are definitely having an impact. I guess the 'rule makers' saw the kind of score Mummy was getting last year through sheer number of hit outs and tackles and wanted to quell things.

Goldy played what I'd consider to be a 120+ game for him and Maric did enough for 100 sc. Ruck scores are going to be down 15-20 points it seems.
Those who have two high premos should consider a trade, particularly if they can do something like goldy to belcho, cripps to premo.
You'll lose 10-15 points but gain up to 30-40.

I think nicnat will hold his price but anyone above that may struggle.
Trading healthy players after R1 has never been an ideal strategy but  this may be an exception.

If you only ever picked "undervalued" players you'd start the year with 24 rooks, $3 million in the bank  and your captain would be Rich.

Not convinced the changes to ruck scoring will make that much difference think it might just have been a poor week for rucks , if I was seeing good scores in AF and RDT compared to SC it might have me a bit worried but Maric top scored with 91 then a lot of 80's and less , lets just see what happens this week

colmullet

yeah i think there's a bit of over reaction here, there were rucks who were putting up tonnes in the NAB, i think it was just a bit of a stinky round for rucks last week, if it becomes a pattern after 3 - 4 rounds then it might be time to consider taking action but not after round 1

With McKernan promoted by Essendon it's looking likely the Mid Price Ruck Gloaters will be coughing up their lunch early this year.

More along the lines of picking value players and if players arent worth their value (because of a rule change) then capitalise on players that are, be they rookie, mid price or premo. 'Value' not just being defined by price for output either.

One of the big logic fails so far has been pitting 2 dominant rucks against each other,  expecting them to dominate each other, and score accordingly.

Post from Champion data regarding updated scoring

Clarification on updated ranking points scoring system.

Ranking points are being calculated correctly as published in the pre-season.

five base points are assigned to hitouts to advantage
no points are given to hitouts that are neutral
one point is lost for hitouts sharked by the opposition

Base Points for all stats in a game are (and always have been) adjusted by:

Zone                       Defensive 50 and Forward 50 stats are worth more than midfield stats.
State of Game          Stats in tight games are worth more, stats late in blowouts are worth less.
Total Match Points    All games are standardised to 3300 points ot ensure that ranking points are comparable across games in different conditions, different games styles and different eras.

When challenged on the topic of a lost point for hitouts sharked by the opposition they stated that this had been the case for the last 10 years.
