Ruckmen scoring low! Perhaps it's not a good idea to outlay 600k+ for Jacobs etc

Goldy had 12, which should have netted him 60 points but he would have been given only 48, which fits perfectly with my example in the earlier post, give or take a few points. Should have been a 110-112 point game instead of 100.

So we are all saying the rucks are getting stung and we shouldnt be spending money on them, I think you still need to spend the big $$ because if you have junk rucks you will be getting incredibly putrid scores rather than 90-100 for quality rucks.

The rucks that used to score well via hitouts are going to suffer more than the ones who pick up possessions. They're being ripped off 20ppg instead of the 10 that was mooted.

Yep, the cash cows will suffer just as much as the premos if their method of scoring was/is due to hitouts. Guys like Luey are probably worth having since he's decent around the ground, as opposed to a hitout machine like Sandi who is going to be crucified.

Possies per game last year:
Minson: 12, NicNat: 12, Goldy: 12, Mummy: 13, Maric: 15, Sauce: 16

I wouldn't get sucked into this too much either. A kick is worth 3 times as much as a handpass, and a contested possession is worth 3 times as much as an uncontested possession yet when simplified into just the number of possessions there could be a fair bit of variation.

I thought I remember reading there could be points against for hit outs directly to the opposition. I could be wrong but I remember seeing something about it. Could this be where the points are going missing?

I think that was just a rumour, but not 100% sure

Nah, it's either 0 or 4. I watched the Freo match just to watch Sandi and compared his live scoring to what he was doing. He was only getting +4 for the effective hitouts. I watched Goldy for a quarter and he was getting the cleanest taps and it was the same thing, +4 every time.

The question is ... Do we trade mummy/Jacobs/goldy/sandi for a cheap option

I think for the first month I will stick with mummy and assess

hmmm its interesting, id def let it pan out for a bit and see but if rucks like the premos are starting to average under 100 your prob not going to get any money back from them though if you trade them later as they would have already lost cash.
I still think Stefan Martin might be one to look at as he gets heaps of ball around the ground. I know he had a poor one on the weekend but he could be a nice swap for someone your not happy with.

On the weekend Mummy had a huge 17 HOTA amongst his 36.

Last year: 36 + 34 = 70
What he was meant to score under the new rules: 85
What they gave him instead: 68

His 98 point game should have been a 115 game. That's what I paid for.

Watching the live scoring, the rucks are only getting +3 or +4 for a HOTA. Bellchambers had 15 HOTA on the weekend which should have given him 75 points from hitouts alone. We have been deceived!

Surely not? I paid top dollar too. If this is correct mate then its bullshower

Im tempted to drop Goldy for Ryder. Rucks just aren't getting the points so he may be worth the risk at a slightly cheaper price.
Would also allow Bartel to Gray and Shaw to Smith.

Bully

The only justification for dropping Goldy is to bring in another premo on another line. Goldy to Belly or Goldy to Leuey, then Salem or Cripps to premo for example.

honza

Really, there's no reason to trade either Goldy or Jacobs. What has changed in one week? I paid for 2 set and forget durable rucks who will be in the top group of ruckmen. If I overpaid then boohoo, I under paid for Heeney.

If this is true surely we can spam the heraldsun sc / twitter or something bcoz i thought exactly the same thing,
they wern't getting rewarded. I started r1 Mummy and r2 Belly for their HOTA and got f'd on.

Ryder will drop in price so it might be worth waiting and that way it gives you a bigger sample to look at to see if the trade is worth it.
