What are you going to do with Newnes?

Think I will hang on to Newnes for a bit longer. his avg. about what I paid for him. Would rather upgrade elsewhere.

Current 'future' trade plans (i don't like planning ahead more than a week but it s a good idea to have a rough structure):

R5
Kelly>McKenzie
Salem>Gray

R6
CEY>JPK
Hogan>Glenn

R7
McIntosh>B.Smith
Vanderburg>Rocky

R8
Cripps>Lewis
Tarrant>Bennell

R9
Miller>Buddy
Lonie>Rookie downgrade

R9 team
Shaw Higgins B.smith Newnes Saad Oxley (McKenzie Brown)
Fyfe Pendles Selwood Sloane Danger JPK Rocky Lewis (Heeney Glenn Krak)
Goldy NicNat (Cox)
Gray Swan Martin Bonts Bennall Buddy (Clark xxxxx)

I will have enough cash for all these and 14 trades left. Foolosh or genius?

WordWeb

Seems like a decent plan. Would strongly suggest picking up Lever at some stage before his price rises. Handy player who can play and score well imo.

R5: 2119
Rank: 29k
Bank: $460

R6 team:
Shaw Higgins Newnes Saad Oxley D.McKenzie (McIntosh Brown)
Fyfe Pendles Selwood Sloane Danger CEY Cripps Vanderburg (Heeney Miller Krak)
Goldy NicNat (Cox)
Gray Swan Martin Bonts Tarrant Hogan (Clark Lonie)

Thinking about:
Heeney>JPK
Hogan>Mitchell

R7 team:
Shaw Higgins Newnes Saad Oxley D.McKenzie (McIntosh Brown)
Fyfe Pendles Selwood JPK Sloane Danger Cripps Vanderburg (CEY Miller Krak)
Goldy NicNat (Cox)
Gray Swan Martin Bonts Mitchell Tarrant (Clark Lonie)

Leave me with bank: $47k

Hoping to go next week:
McIntosh>Lever
Cripps>Rocky

I would need rocky to get less than 100 for this to work. Otherwise I need to go CEy>JPK this week. What do you think? roll the dice?
Can't get a rank increase. Do I need to go with more 'point of difference' players?

WordWeb

What are your views with Sloane? I think you should downgrade him and upgrade Hogan leaving you with some decent dosh. Then next week, i think do Kmac to Lever but upgrade VDB to Rocky instead of Cripps as i think he can still make some more cash. With the cash, you can continue upgrading more rookies like Tarrant or Clark from the Sloane downgrade. I know you wanna keep Sloane but this could benefit you in the future. Whats your view on this?

Thanks for the advice WW.
I think downgrading sloane would leave me with a premo short in my mids. All the rest I agree with so it will be:

R7
Sloane>JPK
Hogan>Tmitch

R8
CEY>Rocky
McIntosh>Lever

R8 team:
Shaw Higgins Newnes Saad Oxley D.McKenzie  (Lever Brown)
Fyfe Pendles Selwood JPK Rocky Danger Cripps Vanderburg (Miller Heeney Krak)
Goldy NicNat (Cox)
Gray Swan Martin Bonts Mitchell Tarrant (Clark Lonie)

Leaves me with 300k.
All these injuries are delaying my upgrading. So frustrating.

Thinking
Cripps>Lewis
Lonie>Dale

R9
Shaw Higgins Newnes
Saad Oxley McIntosh
(D.McKenzie Brown)

Fyfe Pendles Lewis JPK
Selwood Rocky Danger Trelour
(CEY Krak Heeney )

Goldy NicNat (Cox)

Gray Swan Martin
Bonts Mitchell Tarrant
(Clark Dale)

Mids done. 1 in fwdline and then tackle backline - Hibberd & b.smith next week.

Byes looking ok?
Good trades or hold off this week?

WordWeb

Solid trades mate. Another option you could do is go Lonie-dale and Tarrant to a Premium. I reckon give Cripps another shot, plus Lewis has a high BE which might see him dcrease a tad. How much dosh do you have before R9 trades?

70k. I have a feeling Cripps will go 100 tonight too. Tarrant to who though? Buddy is no good for byes.

Bank: 436k

Hodge Shaw Higgins B.Smith Newnes Saad

Fyfe Pendles Lewis JPK Selwood Danger Treloar Sloane

Leaves me with 7 trades. Not the best team but all I could do with all the injuries.
Saad to cover def/mids with McKenzie swing. Tarrant backup for fwd line.

What do you guys think?
Good enough for a top 1000 finish?

Capper

When did you get Wallis in? Why are you getting rid of him so early?

PowerBug

Wallis has a BE of 23 and Sloane over 110 so I agree with tabs/Capper on that one. Got to hold Wallis for at least one more week as he will give you more cash and the points diff will be minimal if any. I'm not sold on Sloane just yet (The contract re-sign is nice) but Wallis still have $5070k to make.

Team is very solid though and 7 trades should be enough you have decent cover apart from the rucks. Maybe you can look towards a Tarrant -> Ryder which will complete the team perfectly.

Agree about Wallis was just eager to finish mids but your numbers are correct. I will wait.

Ryder has been not so good lately but could be a good idea.

Questions:
1. Is wallis to sloane worth it?
2. Do i get Goddard instead of lids? The extra 50k could be tarrant to gawn?
3. Simpson the best option?

WordWeb

Id definitely recommend Houli if ur unsure with Simpson
