Dale Thomas. No interruptions during this pre-season, not feeling any ankle pain, Maltyballs is there and won't get tagged. If Titch is looking likely to be the sub I might start him. Finding it hard to get an extra 25k to go up to Tex. Would rather Daisy than Walters.

Devon Smith to play F5 for me.

Wow that is a deep forward line man.

Where are your rookies on ground?

4 in the mids, 2 def and currently 2 forwds, but doubting Salem and trying to get Smith. But like everybody, depending on teams named

Jordan Lewis and Dangerfield

Reckon these boys are going to push 115+ and I'll be gutted I didn't start them

This a reverse one, but I have a bad feeling Kade Simpson is going to taper off this year a bit. He's still in my side, but my gut is saying something.... hopefully it's wrong

I have had this pretty bad gut feeling the last couple weeks about Simmo as well. It has nothing to do with his NAB scores but more where he was played and the nature of the coach. Back at the start of 2013 Simmo was played deep in defense for long stretches to open the season. This absolutely killed his scoring as he was in more lock down roles as Walker was asked to do the majority of the rebounding the ball out of defense.

While I expect Simmo to play predominantly on the wing, I don't trust Malthouse. Example a was leaving out Levi from the team. I was waiting for something like this today to just confirm my gut feel that he will do something that he sees as the 'right move' but doesn't play to Simmo's strengths. All preseason the boys have been looking to get it into Yaz's hands coming out of the backline which is where Simmo gets a lot of his ball. While quick movement suits him to a tee as he can use his pace and get on the end of some link up play through the wings, if he is playing deep in defense it could see him pump out some 60's.

I was considering dropping him down to say a Bob Murphy or Harry Taylor for cash and getting him in when he puts in the clunker. What has me second guessing is he plays well against the Tiges normally, the ground in Perth suits him in round 2 due to the open space and his ability to run and carry and he plays the Dons and Saints who he has also put up big scores against in the past.

no eye deer

Simmo is the only real premo in my backs, but now I'm wondering if Hibbo or Shaw would be a better selection?

Seriously considering simpson to hibbo.

I have that same bad feeling about simpson

Daisy Thomas's first child is about to be born so you'd have bigger balls than me to pick him this week.

Yep the contractions will be hard for him to deal with while he plays

Mate, if you've witnessed the carnage of a week a baby is born you'll know a) He'll tell Mick to go get flowered and be at the hospital, b) if he plays he won't have slept all week, c) if he does play he'll be runnng around to anyone who listens on the ground yelling 'i'm havng a baby i'm haviing a baby'

Ugh don't bring up his name around me haha!

By all reports he's back to full fitness, which hasn't been talked about too much.

I guess if he sucks you could always sideways him to Bont or Mitchell?

Beams tempts me every time I look at my team

The possibility of a tag worries me
Possibility? Basically a guarantee, and he'll be the #6 mid this year in SC

You think he can beat it?

Does he definitely get tagged? Brisbane mids stocked this year. I think its an interesting team to play against in terms of who gets the tag.....

And if my memory serves me correctly he copped the tag a few games towards the end of last year and it didn't stop him
With Hanley injured, and Rich likely to spend a fair bit of time playing off half back, Beams will surely get the tag. Rocky isn't as damaging, more of an accumulator, so it's a waste tagging him. And Zorko won't get as much midfield time either. Redden never gets tagged.

And yeah he handled it fairly well when getting the tag at the Pies, and arguably has a better midfield around him for support.

Alright so from what I can tell, Beams was tagged three times last year. In those games he scored:

Melbourne (Cross): 106
Carlton (Curnow): 108
Port Adelaide (Cornes): 141
Average: 118

In 2012, he was tagged 4 times.

Fremantle (Crowley): 117
Carlton (Carazzo): 80
St. Kilda (Jones): 144
West Coast (Selwood): 123
Average: 116

Those are some pretty comforting stats
