But why would people want advice from someone who has never finished in the top 10,000 of any fantasy footy competition?

Hey Torp.

I'm struggling like most to fill out the last couple of defenders, Currently have Goodes and Jaksch as D5/6 with Saad and McIntosh on the bench. So:

1)Prior to Goodes being elevated I had Geary in that D5 spot. I think Geary to Goodes is a wise move but I'll kick myself if Geary fires, he did pretty well in NAB. But I don't think he quite justifies the risk given that he's never averaged 80 or more. Thoughts?

2)I realise Brown probably has the job security vote but I dunno about his scoring given his history, however he's cheap and has performed more or less the same as Saad/McIntosh in NAB. Do you think it's worth the risk of Jaksch to Brown, or would you swap Saad or McIntosh to Brown for donut cover, or do you think the risk of the current set up is worth a go too? If Jaksch isn't named he will become Brown but I think he's got a decent chance...

Cheers

1.I considered Clancee Pearce, Ibbo, MacMillan, Jaksch & Geary but decided the risk was probably bigger than the reward. Geary was definitely down on that list too so I'd say turn him into Goodes for sure, Goodes is a lock if he's named. If you're able to find some extra cash I'd definitely want 3 80+ scorers no matter what. For me the current situation is Simpson, Newnes, Lumumba & Rampe. I don't think you can trust having more than 1 rookie player on field. All this said, I firmly believe with the "go with your gut" mentality. If you truly believe something, stick with it. For example, I really believe Rampe is in for a big season, he started in my team and hasn't left it.

2. I currently DON'T have Nath Brown in my team, at 146k I'd much rather go down to a McIntosh, Saad, Hamling, Byrne path. I personally don't see much in Jaksch, he could make some cash but like the other Midpricers it's a risky business. From what you've told me I'd stick with a Jaksch & McIntosh/Saad combo. Jaksch is probably one of the best Midpricers in defence IMO. Could you tell me what your team looks like overall? Would be a lot easier to give you a more detailed rundown.  :)

It looks pretty damn good.  :)

Defence: A strong line for sure. I'd say that you might have slightly over compensated for the lack of rookies which is perfectly fine, paying the extra $ to get 2 certain Premiums. If you want some extra $ I'd say downgrade Nath Brown to Ciaran Byrne/Dalgleish. Apart from that a very solid backline.

Midfield:The place you've gone a little light to get some strength in other lines. Personally I don't mind it but I really think you'd be better to Downgrade Cockatoo to Jed Anderson, a young Hawk midfielder who has really developed as a player. That'd give you the $ to upgrade Ward to Pendles. I don't mind Ward but Pendles is a proven scorer and you know 9/10 he'll give you a 110+. Looking over FF stats Pendles went over 120 13 times last season! That's top class and Cockatoo>Anderson is barely a downgrade. All your rookies look good at the moment, that might change come Thursday night though so keep alert.  :)

Rucks:Not much to say here, very solid. They're the rucks I'm taking into round one depending on the findings today. It's hard to go past Belly if they get off but Nic Nat has so much potential, lets worry about this in a couple of hours. R1 shouldn't change, Lock in Goldy and throw away the key.

Forwards:The premiums are standard although I'm not starting Dusty purely because I see Cotch & Lids returning to a higher average this season so they might take points off him. I also see him as a little too up and down for my liking. I'd be going Dusty>Lids. I like the Bennell pick, he'd be in my team if I had the extra $ but I've settled for Bont. Steele is a 50/50 for round 1 so I would go Steele>Lonie or Lamb. Both should be very likely for round one.

Overall a very solid team, one of the best I've seen. Some quality trading and it'll get you a long way towards a desirable ranking.  :D
