So I had the pleasure of making the Boston team for this week :) moved Cotchin to captain and Carrots to VC as they were the only players named (and it sort of punishes them because they did shower), then built the team around them.

Chicago Sharks 17.9.111 defeated Las Vegas Sinners 17.8.110
(Real: 1662 vs 1647)

So close yet so far for a valiant Sinners side, going down by the narrowest of margins in round 1 - Daniel Wells' home ground advantage of 50 the difference. Taylor Walker and Jordan Lewis went bananas but were let down by others, while the Sharks were consistent across the board - they didn't even need their sub (who scored 46). Captain scores of 69 (Selwood) and 71 (Rockliff) were not pretty.

Brooklyn Hawks 17.9.111 defeated Santiago Cockerels 13.19.97
(Real: 1663 vs 1462)

Not the prettiest game, but the Hawks will be happy to start 1-0. Only one score of 100+ hurt the Cockerels (not including May's OOP 104 as the ruckman) hurt the Cockerels, who will work hard to rebound next week, while the Hawks will want more out of their leaders next week (73, 66 and 82 from their leadership trio).

Boston Terriers 17.15.117 lost to Peruvian Panthers 19.11.125
(Real: 1761 vs 1868)

Relative upset as the Panthers put through a big score to defeat the reigning runners-up. Peru were very strong across the board, highlighted by Docherty's 147 plus scores of 127, 131 and 126 by the leadership trio, in addition to 11 players being named in the best. Pavlich lead from the front for the Terriers but the coach will be hoping for more from the team and himself next week.

In a wonderful opening game to start the new Americas SC Season, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks have held off a strong display from Quito. The game was won in the midfield, where the Ducks Hannebery, Dangerfield and Heppell held sway all day despite a strong showing from Quito Captain Brad Ebert.

Houston 18.6 114 LOST to Colorado 19.5 119

In a bittersweet match Steele Sidebottom on his debut as captain for the Avalanche has lead them to victory, but he will miss the next 4-6 weeks with a broken thumb. It was a great effort by the Bombers mids Sloane, Ellis, Beams ably supported by a strong defense despite the late withdrawl of Mackie. There may well also be an investigation into the Bombers team sheet that meant sub Bugg came on as an emergency.

San Francisco 18.9 117 DEFEATED New Jersey 18.9 117

Big games from Brodie Smith and Adam Trelor were not enough as Eddie Betts, Kieren Jack and Ollie Wines guided the San Fran Grizzlies to a very close victory over a gallant Devils outfit. It was a solid across the board effort from San Fran who got almost no help from the HGA after Monfries scored only 7. The Devils have some good times to look forward to with young guns Greene and Shiels below their normal best.

But Bugg is a Def/Mid so as the first named Def emerg he goes into the team.

That has always been the emergency rule. It is also in the rulebook, i know no one reads it but I have spent plenty of time revising it from the original, updating as we voted on items.
