Define midpricer.

As a rough guide, I would have thought

DEF: 250-400k
MID: 250-500k
FWD: 200-400k

With so much uncertainty in the backline this year I think it's fair to say that anyone over 400k that we pick, we do so hoping they turn into a keeper

I think anyone picking a 500-550k mid or 400-500k fwd would do so expecting the same

YoungGun

Yep Rico and RD's definition is what I would consider midpricers

Usually always go for a couple but not sure if ill have any this years, wells the only one i really like. Had geary for a long time but not sure now a couple back rookies might be playing

Bully

Based on these definitions I have 2, Wells & Steven, Goodes is another I would consider to be a mid pricer.

I disagree that just because a player is a midpricer means he's not a keeper.
Keeper status is based on what you think they will average, irrespective of price.

Take Jack Steven for example. At $455k in the mid he's definitely a midpricer, however I can see why someone could expect him to get back to a 110 ave, making him a keeper.

True, Goodes could even make it to keeper status, especially given that 90 is the new benchmark.

This is why he is a good pick as a mid price option compared to someone like Myers, Edwards or Matt Thomas at a similar price. If I pick someone as a mid priced player it is for a specific purpose in my team. I will explain the 2 I currently have in my side.

Jack Steven - I dropped Gaz out of my side which allowed me to pick up Steven since he had the same bye. Steven at worst I see as a quick stepping stone to Gaz for when he is fit and looking good. He makes Ablett more affordable and best case scenario he is also a keeper due to his past scoring capability.

Bellcho - I am not a fan of forking out for a premium ruck since the top guys can struggle and there is generally a mid price guy that becomes the number 1 option. Belcho had really good hit out to advantage numbers and with the scoring changes he should be serviceable as the Dons number one. This will allow me to jump on the mid price breakout contender

I also know guys like Thomas, Myers and Edwards probably aren't the best examples to compare Steven to but I think you get my point

I would strongly consider Belly but he probably won't be available for at least 2 rounds. I will however get him in when he's on the bubble, hopefully by that stage a forward rookie has had 2-3 price rises and Belly has had some match practice.

   ATM    DEF   C Pearce     B Jacobs                 :-\

And B Goodes if selected.     ;)

Goodes, Wells, Bellchambers.

Goodes picks himself. Would love TBC to be an R3/F7 later in the year. Wells could help heaps to bring an expensive premium in. Worst case scenario is he averages 90 and makes $80k, which isn't the worst result. He has a history of scoring well, so it's not like I'm trying to pick a $360k breakout contender - those are the guys with the huge risk. Wells is more like a Moloney from a few years back, pretty safe to make at least enough to be an OK pick, potential to be a great pick.

NickyBoy

Currently I have Goodes, Clancee Pearce and Jack Steven.

Jimmykidd

flirted with the idea of wells, but now i have none. too much cash too much risk.

H1bb3i2d

Aaaaand Wells is back into Gaz.

Just Goodes and Belly. Anything over 80 is a good enough, I think that's the bare minimum he'll go, and anything more is a very nice bonus :) see an 85 myself. Would need a rookie playing round 1 to sway me.
