As you may of seen im filthy at the AFL for allowing North to mass rest, it hurts my Crows ie no home final but i think it really hurts you guys as North can come out and belt you till your black and blue  then if the games fall the right way come out and play a very sore Tigers outfit week 1 of finals. You guys have to play near full strength as you want to win and stay in Melbourne for week 1 of finals then probably have to front up to North again who is alot fresher from the mass restings and beat them in an elimination final.
Reckon the AFL have done you no favour here and how is it fair that a club who finishes 5th can't afford to mass rest yet a club who finishes 8th can and play you twice in two weeks possibly, that stinks if you ask me. Tis AFL board is a bloody laughing stock break their own rules when it suits them screw clubs over and come out and say we think it's all fine and we'll let North do it.
Finals manipulation aside what about flowering with the draft or does that not matter either. If i was Port i'd chuck their game against Freo and possibly get pick 7, AFl have made round 23 a farce anyway so why not.

To fix this i think the AFL should seriously look at giving the top 8 a weeks break before commencing finals so the comp stays legit all the way through the minor rounds if they havent got the balls to enforce the rules they have in place to stop whats going to happen this weekend.

I'm personally glad North are resting because the possibility of us playing Adelaide in Adelaide was concerning me a little.

North aren't doing it to avoid playing Adelaide as it was highly unlikely they would be playing them anyway. They are doing it in anticipation of playing us the following week and having fresher players which I think will make no difference anyway and we will beat them at the G but we will have to wait and see who this helps I guess.

Yeh thats fair enough mate in the form we are in nobody other than Hawthorn would probably want to come here and play us.
I agree North not doing it to avoid playing us as i cant see the Lions beating the Dogs for that to happen to be honest it is all about playing you guys the following week and you have every right to be powered off about it.
Although I dont blame North for whats happened I do blame the AFL they shouldn't of allowed it, them or Freo as it has such a knock on affect with the draft etc aswell as final 8 manipulation. I do think if North were playing for a top 4 spot this week everyone of those guys to be rested would be playing this week.

Yeah I know what you mean. Unfortunately the only real way to stop it happening all together is to either give all teams a week off before the finals start or shorten the season so players aren't so run down by this stage of the year.
I think 17 rounds (everyone plays each other once) would make for a much a more exciting season and would mean nearly every team are still in the hunt late in the season which would prevent teams from resting

Agree with the weeks rest before finals ive made that comment myself, that way all the minor round games are kept legitimate
and we avoid the farce we have this week
Although im loathed to lose 6 games of footy in a season as i love me footy but i think this is a serious solution the season is extremely long and hard on the  players bodies. Those teams we played away against one season we'd play at home the following season, i can see a few complaints about this but how else do you even it up but we certainly can't play everyone twice in a season players would never go the distance. We could get a couple of extra games in finals by having a top 10 rather than top 8.
We the fans could probably be excepting of a 17 round comp more than the the tv rights holders and the AFL as the tv deal would be worth considerably less.
Regardless of what happens i think we need a major change in the amount of minor round games we have wether we like or not just to get a fairer comp and also relieve the load on the players.

I'm getting this showerty feeling we'll somehow lose this week and have to put up with the media showerstorm and then amazingly pull out the win first week of finals.

Been reading some comments & this one seem reasonable.

News just in, word has it that Hardwick will not change his list this week, but specific roles for players might change for "the  best for Richmond".

Experimentation with positions might include:

Maric to start as the Sub, Cotchin and Martin to play in the respective back pockets, Lambert will Ruck, Houli to Full Forward, Riewoldt, Vickery and Edwards on the interchange. Rance will be on the ball, to name a few.

To test the waters for next year for the rotations being set at 90 for the game, Hardwick will test a theory, and make ONE rotation, per quarter.

Vlastin, Newman, Batchelor and Chaplin will play no lower than their defensive 50, in case the AFL bring in zones such as netball in the near future.

Finally, the rest of the team not mentioned, will run backwards for the entire game, in order to learn how to read the play for defensive moves and also to watch the Roos forward Tactics.

Should make for an excellent game :)

Although contracted Brisbane Lion Jack Redden's preferred new home is West Coast, Richmond and Melbourne are also believed to be interested in the prospective 2016 free agent.

Star Giants youngster Adam Treloar seems almost certain to request a move to Collingwood, in preference to his other serious suitors Richmond and North Melbourne. The Giants will demand a steep price for Treloar, however, and if the Pies struggle to satisfy them, Richmond could try to re-enter the race.

Geelong midfielder Steven Motlop looks more and more likely to re-sign despite strong interest from Richmond and Adelaide.

elephants

Wonder if Motlop getting closer to re-signing has anything to do with Scott Selwood looking increasingly likely to stay?

So basically: We're not really getting a big fish this year even though we're supposedly cashed up and all we'll probably end up with is Yarran.

Go hard Tiges.

Considering we just played North's 2nds, if we play a first half like that next week, we're well and truly flowered.

However, that second half was really, really good. Just need to play four quarters and not turn at half time.

Hopefully playing at the G will give us the edge as North are clearly a better side at Etihad.

Kellogscrunchynut

Surely they give us the Sunday game to minimize Norths advantage.

Yep, sounds like it will be the Sunday arvo game.
