I think the decision has been made for me. I think I need to trade Beams to Ablett

DAYNE Beams' injured right shoulder is hanging by a thread, with the star Brisbane Lions' midfielder believed to be contemplating surgery before season's end.

After carrying the injury for a number of weeks, Beams subluxed the shoulder against Melbourne last Sunday, but is expected to play against North Melbourne at the Gabba on Saturday night.

When asked about it on Wednesday, the 25-year-old was putting on a brave face.

"It's obviously a little bit sore at the moment," Beams said.

"I'm getting it strapped and it's staying in place.

"I think at this stage of the year, most AFL players are carrying something. For me it's no different.

"I'm still fronting up and going out there to play and it's not worrying me out there, I don't think about it.

"It's a little bit sore, but I'm right to go."

When asked whether he would see the season out, Beams was more hesitant.

"We'll have to wait and see, I'm not too sure at the moment," he said.

"That'll be up to myself and the medical stuff, projecting forward in a few weeks.

"We'll look at it and make a call from there."

Nearly got him last week but went with Sidey finally a decision that has not backfired so far anyway  :P

Far out, I at least like a little surprise when I have to use an injury trade ::). Will trade when he books in his surgery.  Credit to him for not pulling a Gaz and instead playing through it (as long as it doesn't hurt him long term)

Difference is GAJ fully popped his out and did a fair bit of damage in the process. Beams subluxed his shoulder

I can see if I trade Beams for GAJ then the opposite is bound to happen. Gaj gets injured again and Beams plays out the season. :p

Beams seems a 50/ 50 option, regarding his shoulder ( that is to see the season out ). Gaz is a 80/20 option regarding his shoulder ( that is to see the season out ), Both have risks.

In regards to Beams, played all season, had a great first year, but the Lions year is shot ( Same as ours lol ) so will they pull the plug early?

Gaz - coming back from a shoulder, ( took his time  ;) 17 tackles, great scorer ( so is Beams ) , Either way, it is Gaz

Just at the minute, who would you rather go forward with

Gaz is Gaz

Interesting to see if Beams plays the season out. The pain is manageable, but unstable shoulder is eventually going to get the better of you at this level. And repetitive subluxes is the last thing you want when you're playing for not finals.

I noticed last week Beams was struggling to stick his tackles, seemed to be brushed aside with ease. Even if he does play I think his scores will take a hit, replacing him with Gaz seems a logical move.
