Really interesting battle between Anderson and O'Rourke tonight. JOR started off stronger then Jed had the better of Terms 2 and 3 but his kicking really let him down including two missed shots at goal. Then in the last term JOR got a number of touches and Jed was statless, I think I saw him running around a bit but maybe he got subbed late for Simpkin. Both players had 7 contested disposals and that's particularly pleasing from the standpoint of JOM after having 0 against NM.

Where does that leave them for Round 1? I still think Jed has the front running....just. However without any injuries in the meantime I suspect he'll be the sub.

Sicily had a couple of moments but also dropped two marks and missed two simple targets. He needs a solid couple of months in the VFL before he'll be considered for a debut.

Chips was pretty good, admittedly he was under little pressure but he moved well and worked into the right positions. 18 touches and 8 marks is a good return, it certainly won't hurt his confidence. He'll need it coming up against Hawkins/Clark Round 1.

Hill was epic. What I want to see this year from him is to not drop off in the middle of the season like 2014 and to a lesser extent 2013. It's hard to believe he's still just a kid and if he can add a bit more consistency and defensive pressure to his game then watch out.

McEvoy had a fantastic game but Ceglar had a brilliant game. He won the hitout battle 27-13 and disposals 15-12. Both of them clunked marks in the forward 50 and kicked two goals a piece. McEvoy does offer a little more in the second and third efforts at stoppages but boy o boy wowee it's a tight battle between those two.

Not much to say about the rest, they did what was expected. Burnt a few chances going forward but that's the only real criticism. We were just electric along the wings and that will continue to hurt opposition sides on the rebound.

So you reckon it's Jed > JOR > Woody > Hartung atm Craig?

I know you love your Woody but it's definitely Jed>JOR>Hartung>Woody. The fact Hartung got selected in the NAB 3 squad and Woody didn't says that.

Haha fair call.  :P

Whoever gets the gig is probably the prime vest candidate too?

Training was a little easier than normal today. Must be to unload leading into round 1.
It was nice

Lol Rico, that sounds like a school journal entry from a 7 year old.

Copy and paste issue or something?

JBs-Hawks

Hill starting look more and more like his brother. Loved his game!

Mr C you spoke about McEvoy v Cegs as if they are competing for the same spot, is there any chance they both play and Hale is the one who misses?

The Jed v JOR race is the tightest in history and I have it as a dead heat currently. Agree that Hartung is next after them, then finally Woody. If only 1 of them gets a gig for round 1 I'm going to tip JOR personally.

Brad Hill could be facing some pretty mean tags this year. Which in our side is saying something.

I don't see that as being likely except for a couple of games during the year, or if Hale is injured of course.

Cegs and Big Boy did have a nice game up forward against St K but Hale kicked more goals than both of them combined last year and he almost had the same amount of hitouts too. He seems like a fossil but he's still only 30, I can't see him being pushed out on a regular basis until next year maybe unless his form really slumps.

So far JOR has done everything, and I'm happy that my doubts about him have been proven wrong so far. Looking at Round 1, I think they might lean towards Jed vs Geelong just because he's a bit more aggressive.

Can anyone go with him? I'm not sure. The good thing is that if Hill doesn't cut them up Smithy will.

Will Will Langford be let loose through the midfield this year do you think?  Love to see more of what he has to offer!

Mr.Craig

He didn't have a lot of negative roles in the second half of the year so hopefully so.
