Brown and Hamling should end up with a good DT-SC ratio, plenty of 1%ers which are usually SC gold!

Don't know what to take out of that , picked the doggies to really struggle along with the Saints this year where does that leave the Pies , beaten by 10 goals could be a long year for them  :-\

I think the bottom of the ladder will be:

Carlton
Dogs

Daylight

Demons
Saints

Didn't the Hawks lose every NAB game one of the past two seasons when they won the premiership? I wouldn't take a hell of a lot out of it, I am looking at rookies and where guys seem to be playing.

Sidebottom only 106 is surprising. It is not often you get 30 touches at 70% with only one clanger and 7 tackles to score that low. I know a lot were uncontested but it is still a surprise. 123 for 50 hitouts from Minno is also interesting.

Sidebottom was handball happy. 70% isn't anything special either, it's about average.

I've pretty much worked out the entire scoring system and an easy way to get an estimate of a players score is as follows. I won't go into weighting (it's not as extreme as some people believe) and stuff like the difference in long kicks to advantage, score assists, effective knock ons, spoils gaining possession and all the other stuff but a simple example is:

Sidebottom's stats:
13 kicks/17 handballs @70% DE, 9 contested. 7 tackles. 1 clanger

Uncontested = 21 points
Contested = 27 points
Kicks: 13 x 0.7 = 9.1 kicks: call it 9.  = 27 points
Handballs: 17 x 0.7 = 11.9: call it 12. = 12 points
7 tackles = 21 points
1 clanger = -3

Total: 105 points

Bontempelli
18 kicks/11 handballs @62%. 10 contested. 9 tackles. 2 clangers. 3.2 score

Contested: 30 points
Uncontested: 19 points
Kicks: 18 x0.62 = 11.16 = 33 points
HB: 6.82 = 7 points
Tackles: 27 points
Clangers: -6
Score: 7x3, 1x2 = 23 points

Total: 133

It's not going to be spot on because a player might have 70% DE but all their effective disposals were handballs but it's a decent guide.

Defenders are the ones who'll outscore the above example by the most, since they are usually the ones who do more 1%ers and they can also pick up 3's for uncontested and 6's for contested (marks from oppo kicks). They even bounce (+1) more. There's heaps of little fluctuations such as +6 instead of +3 for an effective kick that's also a score assist, or +1 instead of +3 for an effective backwards kick but for a rough idea it's not too bad.

The state of the game weighting isn't as extreme as some people believe, but the 3300 rule is. Take a look at the Sydney vs Freo game. JPK and Lachie Neale each scored about 105 under normal scoring conditions but 155 with the weighting applied, since there would have been only 2200 'real' points scored. Pretty much all players got their score multiplied by 1.5 to get up to the 3300 mark.
