Lumumba hasn't been tagged in his entire career

Hard to believe he will start warranting the oppositions number 1 tagger now

No where did I say he was going to get a number one tag.

The reason he hasn't been tagged so far is because the Pies  had about 6 blokes in front of him to be tagged beforehand which isn't the same at the Dees if he starts dominating

I'm trying to find a reason not to pick this guy..

The two most common reasons people aren't picking him seem to be:

His role will change when the season starts

Hard to see this happening, especially after a BOG performance on the weekend playing off the wing.

His highest average previously is only 88

This shouldn't apply now. New team, new role, we shouldn't judge him solely on his past performances in a different side. He's also not too old to have a mini breakout, if that's a factor.

Can anyone else talk me out of him? Haha

"His Role Will Change" is BS as far as I'm concerned

His previous history is a legit concern, but with that being said he has climbed up the pecking order convincingly now at his new club. At Collingwood he would never be a dominant mid because they had so many guns, but at Melbourne he will so I'm confident he can average 90+ this season and am backing him

If it backfires, then so be it, but I don't think we can just say his 3 NAB performances were a fluke. He is clearly playing more mid then he did at the Pies so the increase in points is justified considering the type of player he is

If he could average mid to high 70's off HB and the Wing in a team with so many SC guns, then I think he can find the extra 10-15ppg this year

Where is Bernie Vince at? He hasn't played a single NAB game and is one of the starting mids at Melb.

Is it possible that Lumumba has just been filling this role in Vinces absence? Even if this is correct I suppose I can still see 'The Prince' playing up in the wing....

Vince had shoulder surgery and then pulled a hamstring, so hasn't been able to play in the NAB

Lumumba and Vince play different roles though. Lumumba has been training as a big body inside mid - working specifically on stoppage work. He's not going to be displaced by Vince - There are several other guys Bernie will take midfield minutes from first

Will average 100 this season

Would rather Higgins but might go both

Does the fact that Melbourne had 3 relatively easy games with little defensive pressure on them worry the Laumumba lovers?
