This is just getting ridiculous now

Scooter out for 4-6 with that bloody ankle again. Tunners gone for 12 and Ellis taking longer than expected

WEST Coast has suffered another major injury blow with vice-captain Scott Selwood ruled out for four to six weeks with an ankle injury.

Selwood had his ankle operated on twice over the summer following a major injury suffered in the early part of 2014.

The 2012 best and fairest winner had progressed well enough from the cleanout procedure he had in December to play one WAFL practice match and one NAB Challenge clash before playing in round one against the Western Bulldogs.

But after experiencing soreness in his ankle last week he was left out of the side to face Carlton and will now miss four to six weeks as he tries to get the ankle right.

In even more bad news for West Coast, Simon Tunbridge has been ruled out for 12 weeks with a serious ankle injury suffered during the win over Carlton.

Tunbridge limped off in the third term and was subbed out of the game. He will now spend three months on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Xavier Ellis' recovery from a hamstring injury is taking much longer than expected. Ellis suffered the injury on March 8 in the NAB Challenge clash with Port Adelaide. He was expected to be available for round two but now may not be available to play until round four or five

At least we are getting some time into the rookies and finding things out like Rosa being a solid tagger

Not sure if its 100% correct and haven't really looked into it too much so could be wrong, but feels like every couple of years WCE get absolutely ravaged by injuries, completely derailing their season. Even through the stronger years. I spose it happens at every club but WCE stands out to me for some reason.

Mailman the 2nd

Not the worst injury list in terms of overall quality lost, but considering there are plenty of KPP players makes it a lost worse

Last couple of years have been ridiculous on the injury front for us

Senior Physiotherapist Paul Tucker discusses the injury list heading into round three against Fremantle.

Simon Tunbridge

“Unfortunately Simon hurt his ankle during the game and we’ve had some scans done on that. It shows he’s got a high ankle sprain, it means he’s going to be out for a reasonable amount of time. We have to determine that on Thursday when he sees a specialist.”

Sam Butler

“He missed last week with a slight groin strain. We’d expect him to train this week and put his hand up to be available.”

Scott Selwood

“Scooter has got some ongoing ankle pain and at the moment we just have to wait and see when the symptoms settle. Once we’ve got that we’ll be able to plan for his return.”

Mitch Brown

“Browny is going to go in for a traditional ACL reconstruction at the end of this week. He’ll pretty much follow the same path as Eric Mackenzie and will obviously have the rehabilitation program the same as Eric but will just be a few weeks behind him."

Damien Cavka

“He came out of the boot this week as his symptoms have resolved. Now we’ve just got to go through the process of building him up back into running again.”

Jack Darling

“Jack’s certainly running, he’s built up his running program and he’s doing that quite comfortably at the moment. We now need to work with the strength and conditioning guys and work out how much ‘pre-season’ he needs to do before he’s available to play.”

Murray Newman

“Murray unfortunately suffered a tendon injury on his finger on the weekend and that means that he’s going to be in a splint for around about six weeks, and his return to play will be following his rehab from that.”

and now add McGovern, to the list.
