What can we expect from De Goey this year??
Looks good and ready to step straight into the Pies best 22.. Can he hold down a spot??

What role will he play and expected average from his 1st season...

I'm tempted to pick him over Rich and pocket the $150k difference...

Currently running with -
4 Prem Midfield (+ one of these two..) and 3 Rookies

Maggie May

Cal Twomey predicted he could play 15-20 games and was his pre-season tip for the NAB rising star.  Reports out of the Pies are that he hasn't put a foot wrong, and has pretty much been Pendle's shadow for much of the Pre-Season (I think Pendles may be mentoring Freeman as well but not sure on that one).

Bucks is making no guarantees and the club isn't put any expectations on him but I suspect that is more kid management than a reflection on where he is at.  He didn't look out of place against Hawthorn, and he looks AFL ready so I see no reason why he couldn't be like Langdon/Aish and get a regular gig this year, especially given the changes to our list.  However one thing to be wary of, the club see this kid as a potential 200+ game star, so they are not going to be taking any risks with him this year, so like Langdon last year he'd probably get rested and if he gets a niggle or drops form he'd get dropped.

For the record I have him in my team but I honestly can't say if it is a heart or head pick.

As a Pies fan I am hesitant to have too many Pies players in my SC team (Pendles/Swan/NBrown/Freeman/Sidey etc.)
This kid looks the goods and is in and under so that will win a few fans.
His JS may be the only query with his age and also having a few mid options now down at the Woods with Greenwood and co.
He is also a higher priced rookie which will ultimately have me looking elsewhere..

Yeah his price is a turn off, its so hard to make some decent coin from $200k, the odd vest here and there can really hurt cash generation. Tyson was firmly in the Dees' top midfield group, De Goey isnt a first choice mid just yet.

Would be a solid tip for the rising star. I see him having a type of year Josh Kelly had, though. Great at $120k, not so much for 200.

As a pies fan super excited about this kid and think he is ahead of Freeman currently. Couldnt take him at 200k in SC though, not enough job security. For 200-220k Id rather look at mature players like NVB, Cripps and Newton.

So with the stuff that's happened with Keeffe and Thomas, what's De Goey's JS like now? Really considering him, but haven't looked into him too much. Will likely go with a Newton or Brayshaw, but if Cripps spuds up again next week and De Goey kills it, will definitely look to get him in then if I don't have him already.

De Goey is a Luke Parker clone, not a huge possession gatherer but is a brutal tackler, strong overhead and shows no fear when extracting the hard ball. Another AIS lad who is storming onto the scene, very pleasing to see seven graduates set for round 1 debuts.

Reckon he'd be worth starting over Newton or Brayshaw?

Newton yes, Brayshaw no.

Newton and Brayshaw are both stuck in traffic at the Dees so you'd be riding your luck to have both, and especially if you also have Vanders.

I wouldn't start him, no

Who knows though, he could end up in my team after next round

imo Toumpas and probably JKH/Kent would be in the gun before those three

Tend to agree, Brayshaw is the one who should collect some cheap points on the outside to go with his contested game, his run and spread is as good as any of the draftees in this year's pool. As for Newton, still don't see him setting the world on fire but we'll just have to wait and see. I'm happy enough to watch all of these guys for 2 weeks and then make a corrective trade if need be. Even Cripps has one final chance to prove himself.

Cheers guys, will stick with Brayshaw for now
