One thing that stood out to me straight away is that many of your rookies are high-priced.

DEF: Careful with Harry Taylor, always be wary of a KPP. Jake Lever won't play until later on, will play SANFL as they manage his knee. Whitecross, Jones and Moore are expensive rookie selections, don't want to break your budget on a rookie. Whitecross could pay off though, watch him in pre-season.

MID: Need at least 2 more premiums in my opinion. Once again, spending big on rookies- Van Berlo and Cockatoo. To fit extra premos in, I would downgrade Cockatoo and a forward premo. Upgrade Rich to a premo, you're halfway there.

RUCK: Sandilands is maybe a POD, interesting choice that could pay off. I would change R3 to Tom Read from Geelong or Mason Cox from Collingwood. Neither will play but are RUC/FWD eligible which could be handy.

FWD: Go one premo less here, downgrade one to a rookie and have Jack Martin in D4. Once again, Jarrod Pickett is a pricey rookie selection and hasn't yet played NAB.

Thanks heaps for the reply made some some changes due to your suggestions. What rookies should I put on my bench? Keep Bartel or B Harvey?

Some bench options IMO:

DEF- H. Goddard, N. Brown, A. Saad

MID- Boekhorst, Freeman, Vandenberg, Anderson, Heeney. All could be starters though too, hit and miss.

RUCK: Tom Read (won't play- floating donut)

FWD: J. Hogan, T. Lamb, C. Daniel

I would be keeping Bartel. He is cheaper, five years younger and has been on fire in the pre-season! First two NAB hit-outs he has scored 148 and 126 respectively. Dane Swan must be considered an option in the forward line, must have IMO.

Looking a fair bit better now mate!
To fit Swanny in, you've obviously got to downgrade some players. When you get the cash, upgrade Brandon Jack, probably won't play much and I can't see him in the Rd. 1 team.

I would suggest downgrading:

Sandilands: Far better value options around his price range and a bit lower. I have Ivan Maric, he is set for a big year. Finished off last year with 6 tons for an average of 111.3 over those rounds. You could free up lots of cash by picking Nic Nat, a popular selection for good reason, way underpriced, should average around the 108 mark. Haven't seen him in NAB yet though, watch.

Malceski and Hodge: Better value on offer here too in my opinion. Consider Shaw, Hibberd, Hurn and even Harry Taylor.

Zak Jones (won't play): Consider Adam Saad and Adam Oxley. Few more too, especially if ASADA bans any of our players, then Dalgleish and Edwards are definitely worth a look.

Cockatoo: High priced rookie and high vest candidate.

I would also upgrade Whitecross to a mid-pricer, or downgrade to a rookie.
