I just read that Berwick was ranked 5th at the club for total disposals and effective kicks since being moved to the wing from round 12 last year.

I just crunched the numbers and he also averaged 69.8 from round 12. Those numbers aren't exactly great
Good stuff Mat, that is a bit lower than I expected, still he is on the watch list for now

RaisyDaisy

Being 5th at the club is pretty pointless from an SC perspective anyway

He has shown he has something, and has come out with 2 good scores, so having him on the watchlist with the others is just about right for now

Not quite right.

Rnd 12 - 113
Rnd 13 - 42
Rnd 14 - 52
Rnd 15 - 76
Rnd 16 - 64
Rnd 17 - 62
Rnd 18 - 49
Rnd 19 - 105
Rnd 20 - 70
Rnd 21 - 79
Rnd 22 - 115
Rnd 23 - 60

From Round 12 to Round 23 his average was 73.9.

Don't like the look of those really poor scores

Hopefully he becomes much more consistent this year

Yeah, bear in mind he only played 4 games out of the first 11

Rnd 2 - 21
Rnd 4 - 46
Rnd 5 - 45
Rnd 7 - 24

Average of 34

So with his new position he has more than doubled his average.

Does this mean we'll stop getting inundated with McMillan Believers who came in to being about 5 minutes after some random plucked his name out of the air in January?

He is underpriced and is in their best 22.

A very good option
Assuming he matches his best average to date, you're paying twice the price as a rookie mid to get 72. Just gun up that line in your defence and play a decent rook elsewhere.

I'm going to throw Tom McDonald's name in the ring

3 NAB matches, two high 90's and 108, averaging just over 100  :o

Avg over 70 last four years. Not the worst at that price...

Yep that has merit, but also this so called decent rook may get green vested and you go nowhere.  There are several options I have just responded to this ......

Again, it's just an option and NOT some flowering random FFS.  A player that is underpriced and in the sides best 22

Macmillan is cheap enough to make $100k, would realistically only need to average 70, that should see him move to $350k, and you'd think that would also include some back2back 80s somewhere along the line to nudge $400k. I'll take that. Like I said elsewhere, is priced to average 10ppg more than NVB, and that's exactly what I think will happen, so I'll start him.

Just gotta work out who to start with him. Bewick seems like a really good player who just doesn't produce the fantasy scores. Remember his first preseason? Huge points per minute, came out and sat on my bench all year doing nothing. More recently, he's been up there in metres gained etc and is a important player, but I'm not sure I see him scoring 80+.

Tom McDonald is too expensive to make money and won't be a keeper.

So many doubts over Ibbo, hasn't really convinced me. He's only had the one great year. So has Clancee Pearce. There's every chance Ibbo won't score the same again just because of his role, ala Clancee.

Ibbo will play the same role he averaged over 90 in

At this stage F6 is between Macmillan or Bewick.  Leaning towards Bewick at this stage

Here's where I'm at regarding mid pricers

I think there are some real value picks in the 300-400k range. Guys like Geary, Ibbotson, Sheppard, Bewick etc, but the problem I have is if you're going to pick one of them, for that much cash they need to become a keeper

If they make you 100k you still need to turn them into a premo eventually. The benefit is that they could score well in the meantime and make upgrading them easy later on, but the initial outlay knowing a trade will need to be used needs to be considered

MacMillian and Jaksch interest me more, because they are significantly cheaper and I think it makes sense to select them

Lets assume MacMillian or Jaksch will average 70. I think that's a fair assumption with some upside

Premium Defenders are in the 450-500k range, where as these guys are 260-70k

They are 200k cheaper, and will most likely only average 15-20 less. That to me screams value for money.

Is it worth paying 200k more just for an extra 15-20 points?

As for the 300-400k guys, I think they can push mid 80's, but again its more of an outlay and will need to be upgraded

At least with MacMillian you don't have to hope he will turn into a keeper. You know he will play, get 60-80 most weeks and sometimes more, and is much cheaper to invest in, allowing you to use the extra cash elsewhere

Dunno, it really is a mess down back this year, and I'd love to roll the dice on a 300-400k shot, but I just think the cons outweigh the pros when you compare them to premiums (who wont need a trade used - set and forget) or MacMillian who is a cheaper outlay for similar scoring ability

Daniel Merrett is value. Horror year last year but he's back to his best spot at full back. Only averaged 52 last year and a 75 average is entirely possible and his JS is more solid than GAJ.
