I and many others are tossing up for D5/6 and are wondering who would be a good option.

All have their pros and cons but I'd say if Pearce can get into Freo best 22 then lock him in. The other I'd go Macmillan because of his JS but I'd watch Geary's role in the next NAB Challenge game and make a decision on him.

Ricochet

Ibbotson needs to get through some NAB matches, but he's my pick of the bunch
Seedsman isn't match ready, coming off his hip injury
Yeo may not get the midfield time we expected, after Waters retiring. But worth keeping an eye on
Sheppard has looked pretty good so far, another worth keeping an eye on
MacMillan won't score enough
Geary I'm not sure on. Trying to find out why his scoring was so bad last year, and why it will all of a sudden change in 2015
CPearce, need to watch in the next NAB games when Freo have Fyfe, DPearce, Ibbotson, Crowley back in and see what Clancee's role is.

Of those listed i really am only considering Pearce and Seedsman.

Anyone think that Billie Smedts could do something this year?

Personally I think he'll do enough for a D6, but scoring won't be amazing

Why was Smedts not in Geelong best 22 and will that change?

Battled with a leg injury and didn't play at all in the first half of last year. Was in and out after that

I've had him in and out of my team at D5, but my confidence is pretty low!

It will obviously depend on what role he has (and if he even makes the best 22), but he could definitely make some decent cash if he takes Varcoe's spot on the half back line.

Seems like he's bulked up a bit over the preseason (but who hasn't) and a few articles I've found have said Chris Scott has given him the challenge to prove he's worthy of being in the best lineup.

If I had to pick one it would be Geary, he will almost certainly register an 80 average with potential to go higher, he's in the leadership group, he won't be playing lock down roles to the same degree and his ceiling is super high (as evidenced by his 160 in the preseason).

Smedts will be first man dropped on a lean week.

Any source to that mate? I've been trying to find out what will change from last year

Can't find the article but all indications were he will spend more time in the midfield. The preseason form has certainly backed that up.

Had a dig around and these comments seem to be around the mark.

" 2014 was a season ruined by a hand injury for Geary, managing only the seven games. But, before this he was being ear marked for more midfield time and was burning up the track etc. He was averaging 80 points per 100 minutes of game time, and with a potential move to the midfield, coaches were in the same position we are now."

Got Clancee parked at D6 at the moment, hopefully I don't have to change that.

Ok thanks mate. Next concern though... in the past when he has gone to the midfield its been as a tagger. Last year he had 2 games in the middle, tagged in both according to FF for scores of 67 and 62. And it was similar in 2014.
