Jacobs needs some support and Phil wants to give him some. Sauce is good around the ground and will pick up some of the points lost not doing the majority of the ruck.
Whoever can ruck and be mobile and handy around the ground will get the role, Phil owes Lowden nothing doubt he had much to do with that. If Lowden's carrying a niggle O'Brien gets the first crack. Think it may come down to the most athletic of the two if indeed we run with 2 rucks.

Doesn't really have anything to do with Sauce I think. He's basically fighting to try and take Jenkins spot, who gives Sauce a chop out

Agree Jenkins spot could be under the pump but Phil could have another role still for him hard to gauge. Sauce has been in need of some good help for awhile and we've struggled to get this right, should of kept Maric.

Jenkins kicked 40 goals last year, I think it would be pretty unlikely that anyone is going to take Jenkins spot in the Adelaide line up any time soon.

Thats what i mean by still have a role without rucking. Some pressure hopefully comes from the youth we have for that half forward spot.

JJ played the last game or two in defence, my oh my did he impress me, such a big powerful running athletic unit! Im actually hoping he plays CHB :o Then Lynch and Lowden can play forward, Pods has trained with the backline though. Remember that Cheney will play there too and Hartigan hasn't cemented the spot. Mitch McGovern isn't a teenager either

So Id like to see a spine of FB Talia, CHB JJ, Sauce, CHF Tex/Lynch, FF Lowden/Lynch/Tex McGovern in the pocket and Lynch maybe on the flank! Pods the utility and of course, JJ can be switched forward too :D

Anyway, McGovern and Lowden are older and more experienced than O'Brien and their footy skills are superior. I just don't see him playing!

Agreed, O'Brien and Lowden are absolutely no chance of taking Jenkins spot. Just can't see the Crows playing 2 rucks + Jenkins. I think it's just a case of the Coach saying what he has to.

If you have a power forward good for 2 goals a game it's usually a good idea to leave him there.

I feel Luke Lowden is a better chance to play than Reilly O'Brien at this stage.

No mention of Lowden in that article.

Yeh Lowdens on a modified program so not even in the selectors eyes at the minute, he'll get his chance to show what he can do when he's a 100%, right now there isn't anyone better than Jenkins i agree, it's his to lose. I'd like another gun on that line, dont we all though.

So based on that performance against Geelong I'm not convinced O'Brien will play round 1.

If no other rookie priced rucks play round 1 he will probably be the best option at R3 as he would be the most likely to play games at some stage.

Not really, not likely to play games this year unless Sauce is injured.

More likely than say Tom Read or Mason Cox though.

Typical pre season sceptic bs. A player gets named by his coach as a candidate to play R1 and suddenly he's the least likely player of the lot.
