As a young teen in the early 90's the first NFL game i watched was game of the week hosted by Don Lane on ABC, it had Emmitt Smith running riot in it, i was a Cowboy fan and an Emmitt fan from that moment, i wanted to play RB for the Dallas Cowboys...
Today prior to the draft selections starting my 7 year old son turns to me and says "i want to play for the Dallas Cowboys"
I said do you want to throw the ball, catch the ball or tackle people...
He said "i want to run with the ball like Ezekiel Elliott"
I was both proud and absolutely showerting myself, what if we dont pick Elliott, how does that impact him???
Thankfully we drafted him, it made a special full circle kind of moment for us. #somoeonesgettinganelliottjerseyforhisbirthday

must admit a great story.

would you rather demarco murray back?

Cheers, crazy how things workout, i told him the story after we had drafted him, even showed him my Emmitt Smith jersey 8)

Prior to drafting Elliott yeah sort of, he is an upgrade on McFadden and Morris, the thing about Murray is he is a north south guy and he regularly stumbled through the holes and went down, he left a lot of meat on the bone with his runs and could have had a bigger season than he did had he had more stability with his lateral movements and generally just keeping his feet.

Elliott's footwork is way better than Murray in regards to balance and lateral movement, he is also younger, a better receiver and apparently an above average blocker, he is an upgrade to 2014 Murray in every aspect.

Agreed. Elliot >>>>>>> Murray

Apparently we tried to move back into the 1st round to draft Paxton Lynch, offered a similar deal to Denver's, 2nd and 3rd rounders, so glad we didnt get this deal done, it is not necessary to draft a QB there who will sit for at least 2 years

Hopefully we address the pass rusher position next, i am really keen on Noah Spence, guy has a young Demarcus Ware about him, beyond him i like Ogbah with Ndkemiche gone to the Cards

If any of you hear a massive, angry roar followed by a tsunami of tears coming from the West tomorrow morning, it'll be because we've picked somebody other than Lynch, Bosa, Ramsey, Elliott, or Buckner with pick 8 (in that order of preference). Hopefully Bosa falls to us, but Paxton will be elite.

Just please not Stanley, Tunsil, or Jack - I pity the teams taking those busts.
you've taken Buckner ;) happy?

He's a good pick up but taking Garnett (good guard but there was a better guard available in Whitehair let alone better pick-ups - could've waited to had him in the second for sure) ruined it. Should've taken Jack or traded up further for Lynch. Sad. Should've traded up for Bosa and stayed out of the rest of the first round.

Like the panthers pick with Butler - imo the best DT in this draft.

Cowboys pick of Elliott not so much. If you draft a RB (probably the most replaceable position in the league) you better hope they have Sanders/AP level talent - Elliott doesn't have that. He's a good RB and I had him in my top 5 players of this draft, but just because he's talented doesn't mean he should be taken at pick 4 - Ramsey would've made much more sense, god knows the boys D needs help for Sean Lee.

we did draft the best defensive player available, he just happened to be a RB ;)

My thinking on Elliot is that his career has to go best case scenario to be worth pick 4.

It was honestly the right pick, if Bosa was still there in theory that was the pick, he was gone.

Ramsey isnt a lockdown corner, he is going to take 2 years to get to an elite level, so that does not fit with the teams time line

Cowboys window is the next 2 years, 3 at most, if you have seen how we play when we are playing well its controlling clock

In 2014 when we controlled clock our Defense faced 12 fewer plays a game on average, that's a better defense

I think I agree with this. RB's are usually one of the most high impact players in their rookie year and besides, the team goes as far as Romo can take them. If Zeke plays well that's a massive advantage to him and that offence will be monstrous.

I wanted Zeke heading into the draft, I'm a big fan of his and when we dumped DeMarsha I thought we were a chance at 13. I wouldn't have taken him at 4 though. Now I have to hate him, hopefully he makes it easy

That's it PM, he helps every aspect of the team, protect Romo, run heavy control the clock keep the D off the field

That assumes that Elliott's play will be a major upgrade on guys like Morris, McFadden, and Dunbar...and from what we saw from our last high-pick B1G running back (Gordon - 3.5 ypc, 0 TDs, 6 fumbles), that's not guaranteed.
