Signing Thurmond makes sense since they signed Maxwell.

I just can't work out the Foles trade. He's shown more than Bradford at NFL level, is healthier, and they had to give up draft compensation ???

Jay

"Jabaal Sheard made a tackle resulting in a defensive stop on 8.9% of his run defense snaps, the highest of all 3-4 OLBs" per Pro Football Focus

Seems like a decent signing. We need CBs though... Probably shouldn't have let Browner go :-\

3-4 OLBs are supposed to rush the passer not stop the run

Don't pretend he's anymore than a cheap option to fill a hole

We've got C-Jones for that already ;D
Have seen Belichick develop players who seem like role players into studs in the past ;)

I want Tramon Williams.. Seems like New Orleans are the favourites to land him though.

False. You don't exactly want a guy that just goes after the QB every play either. Teams like GB have been looking for someone to rush the passer on the opposite side of Matthews, but if you have a pure rusher on one side you need someone that can stop the run and is not a liability in coverage. This is why Barwin was so critical in Philly, Cole and Graham are converted DE's that could get to the QB (although both were also pretty good run defenders as well) but there coverage skills are horrible. Barwin was more often then not asked to play the run and drop into coverage, does this mean he is not a good OLB because that is what he is asked to do?

Mathews officially signed, the deal isn't bad but he can never stay healthy. Sproles and Mathews have played 1 season together at the Chargers, it was Mathews rookie season.

Philly are also still chasing Murray and I have no idea why

Thurmond does if you don't have Boykin but both are slot guys and Boykin is the best in the business at the nickel CB position. This is what has lead me to believe they are trading Boykin

The trade is just stupid, there was talk of him potentially flipping Bradford to the Titans for pick 2 but for that to happen we would have needed the Rams first pick.

Barwin had 14.5 sacks last season

Sheard had 2

Mat0369

Barwin was allowed to go after the QB more last season, the year before he had 5 but was just as critical to Philly's set up

Mat0369

Schefter is reporting that Murray is going to sign with the Birds today. Technically Mathews hasn't signed but they have agreed to terms, would Philly back out if they got Murray? Is there a point to both and Sproles? Considering how devalued the RB position is and how they actually got a decent deal for Mathews, they will be spending a buttload of cash to have both on their roster considering they have needs at CB, S, WR and OL among other things  The move doesn't make a lot of sense other then screw Dallas

Mat0369

It is looking more likely that Philly is going to back out of their agreement with Ryan Mathews of 12 mill over 3 years (pretty good deal) to sign DeMarco Murray. If Murray costs more then 6-7 mill Philly are screwing themselves yet again this off-season

Jay

Yep, Philly have overpaid for Demarco.

Should've just kept Shady

Jay

And the Pats are interested in trading for Evan Mathis. Interesting.

for once im impressed with Jerry Jones NOT opening his wallet to names, we dont need a stud back, we could run a RB committee behind that line and still get what we need in terms of game style, either Jerry has matured on his impulse spending or they no something about DeMarco's health, they ran him into the ground on minimum wage last year with not a lot of intent resign him.

Chip Kelly is hell bent on buddy ball and this is why Bradford over Foles

so eager to find out what our plan is, odds are its the draft, there are some ripples eluding to AP (Dallas native) which is more JJ's style, money fixes everything... i think the draft is the smarter option long term and increases the chances of sustained success, some good backs this draft too

Quote“I felt this was a great opportunity for me to win a Super Bowl,” Murray said when asked why he chose to come to Philadelphia instead of staying with the Cowboys.

Murray explained that Philadelphia did not offer him the most money, but that when he looked around he saw what he identified as his best chance to win a ring.

And still keeping Ryan Mathews. So that is basically broken down like this now

Bradford (12 mill) + Murray (8 mill) + Mathews (4 mill) + Alonso (800k) vs Shady (11 mill) + Foles (1.3 mill) + Maclin (11 mill) + cash

I take option b please
