Ricochet

His year last year was elite and will be hard to replicate. He should be the #1 tagged now, and teams will go to him first. But happy to be proven wrong, he is just an upgrade target for me

He did mix his games at times last year. A 130 odd one week and a 60 the next.

Only has had 1 premo output season as well. There are many forward options who have had multiple 100+ seasons. All are cheaper than Gray.

Will fall toward 500k at some stage of the year, then I will consider whether to jump on.
The bolded part is not really true, I'm guessing you didn't check the stats first :P

He's only had 1 premium year, because as he was entering his prime he did his knee and players usually take 12 months (on top of the 12 months for rehab) to get back to their best form.

haha. Well ok maybe I didn't  ::) but he on multiple occasions he had consecutive weeks of sub 100 and 1 sub 50.

The first 5 weeks of the season Port Adelaide play Freo, Sydney, North Melbourne, Hawthorn and Adelaide.

Last year his scores against these sides were

Freo 126, 123
Sydney 93, 126
North 79
Hawks 107, 103
Crows 79, 89

Comes to an average of 102.78.

If he replicates this he would drop in value (can someone with more time advise approx how much?)

He should IMO be the number 1 player tagged and maybe if Wingard misses early matches could potentially play some more time forward.

To be as I have said a couple of times he to me is an upgrade target and has not been in my team this pre-season yet.

Yeah those first 5 games are putting me off a bit as well.
My premium forwards atm are Buddy, Martin and Swan who I see all increasing value early so I would rather have Gray as my first upgrade target

About a 50k drop by round 6

Thanks for doing that AK

Wasn't actually aware of that and will now have to reconsider him

I have no doubt he will be Top 3, but maybe it is worth holding off

Hmmmmm

Gigantor

He got 120+ 8 times last year with a top of 172, that more than makes up for any sub par scores (his 49 was due to severe flu).
The other 3 premo's, Buddy, Lids and BJ are capable of scoring that many 120's but they will score more sub par scores.

I don't think you can read much into these stats, i think the sample is too small. Can any Port/Crows fan shed any light on the 2 low scores? Do the crows have a plan or a certain player who dominates him? If not I don't see why he could just as easily get 30 tocuhes, kick 4 goals and smash out a 160 this year against them.

Another thing to consider is that the two 79's (1 vs North and 1 vs Crows) were rounds 2 and 3, so the season had just started

Looks like Jaensch was on him rd3 and Brown rd15, so Sanderson was most likely trying to negate him

If he gets 80-100 on a bad day, and only has a couple of bad days a year, then I'll take it

His scoring against those other top teams early is very good so no worries there

Teams will have to put more time into him he'll command that respect but he is hard to tag as he goes everywhere on the ground hard to beat one on one when he goes forward. He'll be an opposition coaches nightmare again in 2015 im hoping mate.

Grazz, I really feel people are epically underating this guy. I saw him move through traffic with a tagger on his ass last year and it blew me away. That low core gravity of Gaj. Lateral movement monster.

All the best laugh in the face of taggers. Well, all bar creepy crowley. And he is first round..... but still. Back him all the way I reckon. I got him at $26 bucks for the brownlow. Thats how much I believe in him. And Im a Bombers supporter.

Will be interesting to see if he does start getting the tag. Last year Crowley went to Boak, hence Gray's high scores.
Tbh I think Boak would be just as damaging if let loose, if not more.

Still think he is an upgrade, just don't want him going like 115ish  :-[

Thinking more like 125  ;D

every year my strategy revolves around the best of the best premos with rookies,

Gray should be the best of the best. If he can go 110+ I dont care if he drops a little, the difference between him and say a lids isnt really that much.

Who are you bringing him in at the expense of? From memory you were going with Buddy, Martin and Swan.
Buddy is underpriced and plays the Bombers in round 1 who he always smashes.
Swan is certain to go up in value
Dusty is set to go go huge with more midfield time.

They are the same 3 forwards I have and can't bring myself to take any of them out for a guy with a super tough start to the year and almost certain to drop in value
