Gray was always gonna be in every decent team at some stage this year but I can't help but laugh at how many teams he's suddenly been moved into after playing a good Nab challenge game. Watch him go straight back out if he scores 70 next nab game and a new flavour of the week scores 160.
Would have thought that anyone who's played this game more than 1 year knows not to judge premium performances on nab games. Weather they play amazing or terrible, it means nothing.

Totally agree, I personally think and hope he will drop 40-50k then ill jump all over him.

Are you starting him or waiting and hoping he drops also ?

He hasn't been in my side to date.
Certainly don't have anything against people starting him and if my final team leaves me with the cash to do so then I'll strongly consider but the knee jerk reactions to a meaningless nab cup game is what I find bewildering

I don't think it's knee jerk, just a reflection of his preseason form and fitness. His form at the tail end of last season was evidence of his upside, most importantly he starred against very strong opposition. Gray was deemed the most valuable player in the land by the coaches last year, he has the potential to be this year's top forward.

Agree with all of that. People saying all pre season that he's an upgrade target though and then jumping on because of a nab challenge game is knee jerk

Played 22 games last year, highest points, highest average by close to 10 points for all forwards. If your going for overall I don't think you can leave him out

I've had him in my team before his NAB match - well the day before he went in :D

He's a gun mid who kicks goals. Worth every cent. If anything, I'm showered he went so well because now the bandwagon jumpers will get on board

He did mix his games at times last year. A 130 odd one week and a 60 the next.

Only has had 1 premo output season as well. There are many forward options who have had multiple 100+ seasons. All are cheaper than Gray.

Will fall toward 500k at some stage of the year, then I will consider whether to jump on.

I know it's nab but I'm back on. A spot openens up with Goddard and the essendon saga.

I go the best if the best as my rule and he showed me he probably is that.

Unless buddy kicks 100 goals I can see this happening again

I know what ya mean about only the one premo year- but he was knocking on the door previously years, and was a bit unlucky with injuries.

His scoring was definitely premo last year:
Only 4 scores below 89, and 7 scores below 100 in his 25 outings. Pretty superb for a fwd. (or a mid)

There are some good mid/fwd options this year... but still reckon Gray will smoke them all.
Im definitely starting this bloke.

Last years 13th highest averaging midfielder, priced at just under 600k, what's not to like about starting him up forward ??

:)

I had him in all my early drafts. So what of he drops $70k, even the underpriced guys like BJ and Buddy will  $50k at some stage, as will all the midfielders. His bye is magic, there are no other round 13 bye forwards that come close. I'll either start him or make him an early upgrade target before the byes.

The bolded part is not really true, I'm guessing you didn't check the stats first :P

He's only had 1 premium year, because as he was entering his prime he did his knee and players usually take 12 months (on top of the 12 months for rehab) to get back to their best form.

Been in most of mine, and I've had showerloads of teams. Defence is so mystical that I change it everyday. Have finally decided to pick the rest of my team first and then fill the defence with what dollars are left and finish that part of my team last. By that time it should be apparent who to take, bloody hopefully. Cheers.      ;)

He's one of the dozen or so players that have been in my team since the very first draft. He's safe as houses as far as I'm concerned. Sure he will probably drop to about 480k at some point as I can see him stringing together a couple of 80s but I'd rather start with him than have to use the trades to bring him in; which everyone starting without him must surely be expecting to do at some point.
