As someOne who has played SC since the beginning and made all the mistakes that can be made.

STICK WITH YOUR PROVEN GUNS

May make you little cash but its a waste of a trade  IMO

And how many trades to we have now compared back to the good old days?

Lots...I would agree strongly with this statement 5 years ago but not anymore

Id be more than happy to have someone sit M8 averaging 100+ if I couldn't afford to burn one of the 30 trades I have to just increase 10 PPG

Im pretty confident Crouch will average 100+ another year in the system and his 1st full preseason under his belt

I guess Im just an optimist...the risks are very low...this bloke has not had a chance to be a proven gun yet - we are taking a risk that he will become a proven gun..if not...we lose a petty trade

You have to take risks in this game otherwise you get nowhere fast

SC is 90% luck

Having played the game for so long then you must surely remember when todays "proven guns" were around the $500k mark?
They had a break out year at some stage...why cant Crouch do it this year?

Yes we have 30 trades but every year we say awe 30 trades thats heaps then bang there gone just like that. He is a gun no doubt but you would be better putting in someone a little better

Its been 30 trades for like 2 years and its pathetic ..its too many

HS is making this game for the kids more and more by reversing trades, too many trades, loopholes etc.

I certainly do not find myself wishing for more trades...nor am I experiencing a "bang theyre gone like that"

Maybe because you don't pick players like BCrouch initially your burning trades flat out playing catch up

Please provide an example of someone a little better for that $ ...... most on this topic are saying BCrouch is the best at that $ value...

Andrew Swallow.
proven scorer, besides his injury affect year last year, Swallow has avg 107.5 in the 4 years before last.
priced @ 93, i think he can get back to his best and go 105+ again.

he's on par with Crouch and both can go 105+ and will, with full preseasons and no injuries.
TBH I've got both.

I had Swallow for 2 seasons before he got injured...been there done that.....wasn't even that impressed TBH....seen what he had to offer with full pre seasons under his belt

BCrouch has not had a full pre season yet so is an unknown at this level

Never picked swallow before, had his brother from the get go last year.
but seriously what do you expect from a bloke priced @ $500K??
105+ is very serviceable and sits nicely M5-M8 depending on who else you bring in.

Jack Steven is cheaper but the bye is the issue.

Why would you even consider Steven? He needed to dominate today and for what I was hoping he hit well below par. Especially since he was playing s VFL team.

Its NAB Cup,they played a team of VFL players all Steven needed to do was have a decent hitout and get through the game unscathed,no real need for him to dominate at all.
Some of you expect too much in NAB Cup matches.

sammy123

Put a bit mote cash in and get someone like Barlow as your M5

sammy123

I don't burn trades catching up either as you can see from previous years i have tanked very highly. By just choosing the proven guns

Yes, Brad Crouch is the best value for guys around his price. But is a 105 good enough? Its less than ideal.

RaisyDaisy

No one talking about Shiel at all

I think Shiel and Crouch are the best breakout contenders this year

I'm going with super premiums only, but I am damn tempted to take a punt on Crouch or Shiel, more so Shiel

They are priced the same (more or less)

The guy is priced @ 95. A 10+ point jump is reasonable. That puts him in the  10-20 area.
What do you expect from him?? 120??

I swear some people on here aren't realistic about what these guys will avg.

Top 10 (115+), 11-25 (105-115)

My biggest problem with Crouch actually has to do with structure.  I see Bennell as about an equal risk/ reward but obviously the forward eligibility puts him a fair way ahead of Crouch.  Still can't ignore the SOS though.

Ricochet

Would not be surprised if this kid does breakout, but proven premos in my mids all the way this year
