DEF: Simpson, Smith, Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, H.Goddard (Maynard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, Ward, Anderson, Heeney, Boehkorst, Freeman (Miller, Ellis-Yolmen, Steele)
RUCK: Goldstein, NicNat (Cox)
FWD: Goddard, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Karnezis, Lambert)

Currently have $240,900 in the bank. At this stage the possible places I can see myself spending some of that money is:
Goldstein to Jacobs
Bennell to Bartel/Lids
Mid Rookie to NVB/Biggs/Cripps

Any thoughts on these changes being worth it or not and any other advice would be much appreciated!

Midfield looks a bit weak with only 4 premos and no Pendles. Would look at maybe going Heeney into NVB and Ward into Pendles

barlowlove

Yeah i have gone Heeney to NVB now
I do really like Ward though, and not sure if I want Ablett, Fyfe and Pendles on the same Bye

Pendles >>>>>>>> Fyfe

Who knows if Fyfe will get suspended or injured. Pendles is safe as houses.

Money Shot

Mids is the place to spend the money.

Team Update:

Wanted to try something a bit different I hadn't seen on here which was a fully (including Newnes) premo backline and see how it looked. Also did Fyfe>Pendles, and Bennell>Dusty due to byes

DEF: Simpson, Smith, Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Kelly (Maynard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Selwood, Pendlebury, Ward, Anderson, Heeney, Boehkorst, Freeman (Miller, Ellis-Yolmen, Steele)
RUCK: Z.Smith, NicNat (Cox)
FWD: Goddard, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Karnezis, Lambert)

Cash: $53,500

I do agree that my M5 does need strengthening, but doesn't really work with this structure I'm trialling at the moment
Would be keen to hear people's thoughts on Zac Smith because I think he is better value for money than Leuy, Belly or someone like Mcevoy

Money Shot

Smith is good value.
Find a way to turn Heeney into someone like NVB and the team is perf.

4 Premos in the midfield is fine. youve made it up in the backline where its really skinny this year, back your gut mate

Hey mate. Re: Smith I think it's a pretty big risk, you'd have to be backing him to turn into a top ruckman which I just can't see him doing, 410k is too much to consider someone a stepping stone player, though it depends what you can do with the other 150k I guess. I reckon Leuenberger will probably put up similar numbers (70-80) for less money, and when you look at the number of games each has played in the last few seasons I don't think Smith is any more secure than Berger...

I think your mid rooks are all a bit of a risk to be honest
Anderson and Heeney: both look like they'll be gun players but trying to crack into very very tough sides, I don't see them doing it early or consistently
Boekhorst: should play but looked pretty average in his first run, jury out but I'm not excited
Freeman: I prefer him as a bench candidate but did a good job against hawks, if he solidifies a spot will be good...
Miller and Ellis-Yolmen: again just more concerned with their JS than their scoring ability, if they string together early games will be good.
Steele - TBC...

I just think you may need to prepare for upgrading a few of these to more expensive options, just in case...

Thanks GCS, yeah to be honest I'm not set on any rookies until the end of the NAB and the teams are named round 1 and therefore haven't paid that much attention to them when changing my team. Depending on how the NAB goes I may have to find some cash to get in NVB/Biggs

barlowlove

Been playing around with the team alot recently, but finally found something that I think I'm happy to sit, at least for the week  ::)
Rucks have been my biggest headache!
Any feedback appreciated

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Hibberd, Birchall, Newnes, C. Pearce (H.Goddard, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Selwood, Pendlebury, Ward, NVB, Anderson, Heeney, Vandenberg (Miller, Freeman, Lambert)
RUCK: Goldstein, Maric (Cox)
FWD: Goddard, Dusty, Swan, Karnezis, Clark, Hogan (Lonie, C.Daniel)

nperera95

Def: Very strong backline. Any news on how Birchall is travelling? Had him but then got rid of him after hearing about his injury.
mid: Solid mid. Got the same premos as you do.
ruck: Strong ruck. With Nic Nat concerning us, I believe Maric is the ideal replacement
fwd: Good fwd.

Really like this side! See 14 keepers which is great.

RaisyDaisy

Really nice side mate!

Cant really fault it or give any suggestions!

This is my team as it currently stands:

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Smith, Birchall, Newnes, N.Brown (H.Goddard, Saad)
MID: Beams, Selwood, Pendlebury, Ward, NVB, Newton, Cockatoo, Vandenberg (Miller, Boekhorst, Lambert)
RUCK: Goldstein, Jacobs (Cox)
FWD: Goddard, Dusty, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan (Steele, Karnezis)

I'll explain the rationale behind the changes from my last team

-Downgrading C.Pearce to N.Brown allowed me to upgrade my rookies across the park from basement priced (ish) to Newton, Cockatoo and Salem. I think that the additional JS and Points that these rookies should provide should make up for what I've lost in Pearce, who it is really unknown what role he will play. I'm really hoping Saad plays so I can chuck N.Brown in D8 where he belongs

-The other change which not many will agree with (and which I probably won't stick with) is the removal of one GAJ. The main reason behind doing this is with no ruck cover, I wanted to choose the 2 Rucks least likely to miss games throughout the season, namely Goldstein (missed only 5 games in 5 seasons), and Jacobs (missed 1 in last 3 seasons). In regards to Gary himself, he's priced to average 137 (10ppg above what I think he'll average), is 31 years old, and has had a signifcantly injury interrupted pre-season.... Someone please talk me into getting him back so I'll feel sane again!

Any discussion welcome, not just advice for me but just generally on the players I've talked about as well!

SydneyRox

how does barlowlove's team not have Barlow in it???

Forward line is too weak IMO.
