He is expensive, but given the defence is weaker than it has been in recent seasons I think it may be worth spending the extra cash to get the only defender who averaged 100+ last year.

I expect him to be Top 5 come seasons end, but I just cannot physically bring myself to spend over 550k on a defender. Never have, never will

Even though it was only a pre-season game today I would have expected more from him to justify his price. Needs to show more to consider forking out the cash for him. Clearly an upgrade target.

He's been in and out of my team like a rabid rabbit but believe I'll go for the upgrade. And perhaps his price will go down or perhaps not, but I can't see  it rising to the extent that it'll become too expensive.
A top six defender, yes. An upgrade target, yes.       ;)

Definitely an upgrade target. Need to see how he fits into a new club first. Will likely make it into my side at some stage this year but won't be round 1.

His previous peak had been 10-15pts under where he's priced now.  Although he had battled with injuries. But he's now in a much weaker side, with different structures around him

Will have to manage the backline kids a bit.  Don't think he will score well at the start.
As everyone else is saying, likely upgrade target. 

I for one see other options appearing as the NAB and early season progress.

There's so many doubts around the $500kish defenders that I've bought this guy back in.
He hasn't missed a game through injury for 3 seasons, and in the years in his career that his played 22 games he's averaged 100.9 (2007), 96.4 (2010), 90.4 (2013) and 105.4 (2014), and I'll back him in to go 95-105 again.
I know it sounds a bit stupid to pick a guy priced at 105 average when I'm conceding he could go as low as 95 avg, but I think that he's a lock for the Top 6 defenders, which you can't say about many others
