I have a few teams to choose from now and I'd like your thoughts Rico!  :)

Team 1:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Sheed, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Goldstein, Nic Nat (Read)

FWD: Gray, Bartel, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Steele)

- This is probably the SAFEST team but maybe not the best. To get Ablett, I would just be trading out 2 rookies.

Team 2:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Steven, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Mumford, Nic Nat (Read)

FWD: Gray, Bartel, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Steele)

- Mumford will belt out some HUGE scores early, rise in price, then I will downgrade him to Kreuzer as soon as he returns (round 4/5 probably), and that money will be used to upgrade Steven straight to Ablett.

Team 3:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Rich, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Mumford, Leuenberger (Read)

FWD: Gray, Swan, Mitchell, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark (Hogan, Lamb)

- Same deal with the Mumford/Kreuzer trade this time to upgrade Rich to Ablett. I feel content taking the risk with Leuenberger, especially since Belly is in my forward line as cover. I don't mind going an extra forward deep here either.

When looking at these teams, assume that Bellchambers is free to play round 1. If he's not, I will go from there.

Thanks,
BomberSam.
Option 2 for me man. Much better balanced and I love the Mummy/Steven combo. Plus Belly gives you good cover

Thanks for everything Rico! I have another question as I put the final touches on my team.

Bellchambers in for: Bartel or Swan in the forward line or Nic Nat at R2?

So either: Gray, Bartel, Bellchambers
or: Gray, Swan, Bellchambers
or: Goldstein, Bellchambers
Gray, Swan and Belly for me mate. Swan is a must at his price and Belly gives you great cover from the fwd line and into the rucks

Best mid for $260k? Soo close to finalising my team, already have Cripps, Brayshaw, Cockatoo, Heeney, CEY & Miller.
Depending on who is named I would say Newton > NVB > Sheed > de Goey
But I would also look at bringing vandenBerg in for Miller mate

Hey, Rico.

Any issue in upgrading M1 from Pendlebury to Ablett if Fyfe/Beams/Parker are the other premo mids.

Would usually start with Ablett/Pendlebury but the last 3 years he's averaged 125ish, opened up at 667k+ and always fallen below 600k. Is it time to start looking at him as an upgrade target?

Cheers
So you currently have Pendles and want to bring Ablett in mate? No issues with that at all. The rest of your mids are solid as and there is a bit of uncertainty around Pies atm
Cheers Rico!

One last question, team is pretty much set in stone bar rookies. Rucks, I have NicNat/Lycett as R1/R2 with Bellchambers at F4 - Thinking NicNat/Lycett will be a good combo, both underpriced, both should never be out of the team at the same time. Lycett/TBC both provide FWD/RUC cover so can swap either out and still be left with cover. Plan would be to upgrade TBC later in the season to the #1 ruck and then have Lycett as the FWD/RUC cover as he is a beneficiary if NicNat misses a game here or there, should also average higher then TBC and would be a more handy F7/8 end of season. Thoughts?

Hey Rico, with Bellchambers cleared I'm really keen on getting him into F4 as cover for NicNat.

BUT, I can't afford. Can you give advice on where to generate the funds via which downgrades?!

Def: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lamumba, Goodes, Saad (Brown, Mcintosh)
Mid: GAJ, Fyfe, Beams, JPK, Swan, Cripps, Cockatoo, Heeney (CEY, Steele, Lambert)
Ruc: Goldy, NicNat (Mclaren)
Fwd: Gray, Bartel, Dusty, Salem, Clark, Karnezis (Hogan, Lamb)

$3k cash remaining.

Cheers mate!
Yeh thats a rough one mate, I would look at bringing him at F3 but if your set on that structure then

One of Gibson/Shaw down to a midpricer like Ibbotson/Hendo/CPearce = 150k
Gray to Steven (should average only 5ish points less than Gray) and Swan to the fwd line = 140k
Rookie up to Belly

This team - It just feels right for some reason.

Thanks for your thoughts on Ibbo by the way. Had him in earlier but this Essendon news has changed everything!
Hey mate :) Yeh thats fair enough. Personally I'm waiting and seeing on Hibbo as the Bombers boys haven't had any practice matches leading into round 1, which I'm a big believer of being very important preparation. But he is a solid pick

I really really like this team though mate. Structurally its great and its solid across all lines

Given the expected drop in most ruckman's prices due to the new rules, is Lycett and Zac Smith a viable ruck combination for their keeper/stepping stone abilities? Have Belly up fwd as cover.
Personally I think they're a little too expensive to be a stepping stone mate. At 418k-ish they need to average 105+ to make 150k and are basically a keeper at that. I think anything less is a waste of a trade. If you can see them hitting that then jump on. The new ruck rules do concern me a little but I don't think there are enough cheap mid pricers to use as stepping stones. Don't forget that those expensive mid pricers will also be affected by the ruck rule changes

DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba,  Goodes, Saad (Hamling, Mcintosh)
MIDS: Selwood, Sidebottom, Barlow, Parker, Griffen, Cripps, Vandernberg, CEY (Heeny, Miller Lambert)
RUCKS: Maric, Goldy (Read)
FWDS: Bartel, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, Clark (Daniel, Lamb)
Cash remaining: $249,500.

How should I spend the rest of the money?
I think your missing one or two more 120+ mids man. I'd upgrade one of Sidey or Parker to Rocky/GAJ/Pendles/Fyfe. Other than that you could look at going Miller to Cockatoo, CDaniel to Karnezis and Hamling to NBrown.

Stormzors

Any thoughts on this backline?

DEFS: K. Simpson, H. Shaw, H. Taylor, J. Newnes, H. Goddard, A. Saad, K. McIntosh, J. Hamling

Bit unsure on Taylor?

G'day Rico. I would love your thoughts on which team is stronger and any changes/suggestions. Cheers in advance

Team 1:

Def: Shaw, Taylor, Newnes, Lumumba, Goodes, Saad, (Hamling, McIntosh)

Mid: Ablett, Pendles, Fyfe, Parker, Griffen, Newton, Cripps, CEY, (Heeney, Miller, Steele)

Ruck: Goldy, Maric (Read)

Fwd: Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan, (Lamb, Lambert)

And Team 2:

Def: Shaw, Taylor, Newnes, Lumumba, Goodes, Saad, (Hamling, McIntosh)

Mid: Ablett, Fyfe, Lewis, Danger, Griffen, Cripps, CEY, Heeney, (VDB, Miller, Steele)

Ruck: Goldy, Maric (Read)

Fwd: Gray, Martin, Swan, TBC, Salem, Clark, (Hogan, Lambert)

Cheers in advance
Option 2 mate. Belly gives you great coverage and is an upgrade on starting Hogan. So that could cover the loss in points from Pendles down to Lewis. Plus I see Danger going 110+ again so the loss of points in the middle is that much

Love the team, another thing you could consider is moving Belly to rucks, and turning Mummy to R.Gray
I wouldn't. Belly is the perfect ruck cover we need and Mummy with destroy the first part of the year with his opening fixture

Hi mate. Any advice appreciate! I've gone big in the mids, and paid top dollar for rookies. I Have gone low in the backs- even the premium backs were very inconsistent last year so will wait and see

B: Simpson, Newnes, lumumba, ibbo, goodes, saad (Oxley, McIntosh)

M: Ablett, fyfe, pendles, selwood, beams, cripps, nvb, Newton (heeney, Ellis -yolmen, vandenberg)

R: nic nat, belly (naismith)

F: bartel, Martin, Swan, Kennedy, Clark, Salem (Lambert, Hogan)

No money left. And obviously rookies subject to selection
DEF: Structure is very similar to mine so can't fault it and your picks are fine also. Great premo and value picks mate. For your rookies also consider NBrown just for JS reasons.

MIDS: Another good line mate. Structurally it is perfect and your picks are great. Can't fault your rookie picks either

RUCKS: Ok, personally not a fan of starting Belly at R2, especially with no cover. I'd swing him to the fwd line or upgrade R3 to an expensive rookie so when teams are named you have a little wiggle room to grab the best rookie available (like a Phillips or Lobb if they are named). NicNat is a lock

FWDs: Great premo picks mate. I'm guessing Kennedy is Ben Kennedy? In which case he could be a great pick with JThomas and Greenwood out of the side. Personally I would prefer Karnezis for much cheaper but back your gut in there.

Overrall its a great side mate but just think the rucks need a re-look at

Hey Rico, just another question about a team even though you are probably over them now.

Team 1)

Defense: Kade Simpson (CARL) Heath Shaw (GWS) Jack Newnes (STK) Heritier Lumumba (MEL) Brett Goodes (WBD) Nathan Brown (COLL) Kamdyn McIntosh (RICH) Adam Saad (GCS)

Midfield: Scott Pendlebury (COLL) Nat Fyfe (FRE)  Joel Selwood (GEEL) Josh P. Kennedy (SYD) Dayne Beams (BRIS) Patrick Cripps (CARL) Isaac Heeney (SYD) Aaron Vandenberg (MEL) Cam Ellis-Yolmen (ADE) Nakia Cockatoo (GEEL) Touk Miller (GCS)

Rucks: Todd Goldstein (NTH) Nic Naitanui (WCE) Mason Cox (COLL)

Forwards: Robbie Gray (PORT) Dustin Martin (RICH) Dane Swan (COLL) Christian Salem (MEL) Mitch Clark (GEE) Jesse Hogan (MEL) Caleb Daniel (WBD) Kane Lambert (RICH)

$20,900 Players selectable: 19 20 21

Team 2:

Defense: Kade Simpson (CARL) Heath Shaw (GWS) Jack Newnes (STK) Heritier Lumumba (MEL) Brett Goodes (WBD) Nathan Brown (COLL) Kamdyn McIntosh (RICH) Adam Saad (GCS)

Midfield: Gary Ablett (GCS) Scott Pendlebury (COLL) Nat Fyfe (FRE) Dayne Beams (BRIS) Andrew Swallow (NTH) Patrick Cripps (CARL) Isaac Heeney (SYD) Aaron Vandenberg (MEL) Cam Ellis-Yolmen (ADE)  Nakia Cockatoo (GEEL) Touk Miller (GCS)

Rucks: Todd Goldstein (NTH) Nic Naitanui (WCE) Mason Cox (COLL)

Forwards: Robbie Gray (PORT) Dustin Martin (RICH) Dane Swan (COLL) Christian Salem (MEL) Mitch Clark (GEE) Jesse Hogan (MEL) Tom Lamb (WCE) Kane Lambert (RICH)

$47,800 Players selectable: 21 22 17

I am considering Swallow to Wells and then putting in Bellchambers but just don't know whether to make them R2/R3 or M4.
I don't know whether to upgrade Swan to someone else with the leftovers but don't know who to.

Cheers Rico :)
Ok so comparing the two teams its
Jelwood and JPK VS Ablett and Swallow
On paper Jelwood an JPK win this but I think we need to start Ablett man. It would give you a super starting midfield.

And yes downgrade Swallow to Wells, upgrade a fwd rookie to Belly. Gives you great coverage for the rucks and would actually be an increase in points in my eyes

Hey Ric with bombers being cleared I'm unsure if I should take these players would love your thoughts
Hibberd + TBC + KK vs Gibson + Nic Nat
Just unsure if Bellchambers is good enough over nic nat at R2, Aswell as if KK will perform
Who is the 3rd player with Gibson and NicNat mate?

I'm recommending putting Belly in our fwd lines as ruck cover. I'm not a fan of him at R2
