Hey Rico, really want to pick Ablett, Fyfe and Steven but will this screw me up too much come bye time?

Cheers mate
Not at all mate. With the additional rookie spot and trades through that period we'll be able to get around it. As long as your team isn't full of the same by in other lines too :)

Hey mate hows my side look to you?

Shaw, Newnes, Harry L, Ibbo, Whitecross, Hamling
Edwards, Saad

Gaz, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Cotchin, Newton, Cripps, Heeney, Freeman
Ellis Yolmen, Steele, Lambert

Mumford, Nic Nat
McKernan

Goddard, Martin, Bennell, Swan, Clark, Hogan
Salem, Karnezis

$93,000
DEF: Need to trade Whitecross to Goodes mate. Whitecross is a few weeks off it yet. Rest of the line is fine
MIDS: Love the top 4 picks. And rookies are fine, except Steele. Look at vandenBerg here.
RUCKS: Perfect mate, love this combo and Mckernan is decent ruck cover
FWDs: Nothing wrong with these fwds either mate, good line. Also consider Lambert as a rookie though

What do u think mate.
DEF: One too many rookies here mate. Most will go with only one rookie at D6, some will go with Goodes at D6. 1 is fine, but you need to upgrade Marchbank here.  Premos are fine and Goodes is great value

MIDS: Like the structure here mate, 5 premos and 3 rookies is perfect. Top end picks are fine and both Griff and Swallow could be great value. I'm not completely sold on both but back yourself in. For your rookies I'd look at replacing Dumon and Miller with 2 of vandenberg, Cockatoo, Ellis-Yolmen.

RUCKS: I like the Minson POD and we should know more about whether Belly will be there RD1 tonight after the hearing. I think you need to keep some cash on hand for your R3. Just in case only expensive rookies are named RD1 (if any at all) and you can upgrade O'brien. Ruck cover is very important in my eyes

FWD: Very strong mate. And i think this is where we can find some cash to strengthen that backline. Gray, Lids, Goddard and Swan are all ripper picks, but maybe look to downgrade Goddard. Just the uncertainty of the ASADA case and who it will affect around him. We don't know how he scores playing with a bunch of replacements. As for your rookies I'd also consider Karnezis, Salem, Lamb.

Yep I've been all over him for ages now man. A lot of concern on FF about him but I'm not worried.

I have a few reasons for liking him.

The first is more to do with liking midpricers in general in defence.
These was my thoughts on starting only 2-3 true premos and 2-3 mid pricers back there.

Quote from: Ricochet on February 25, 2015, 05:37:47 PM
A few reasons for it. The first being, like you mentioned, lack of rookies back there. And rookies that will actually score well.

The second is lack of true top end premos. There's 2 boys that are 95+ from last year and I'm not overly confident Malceski can hold his average in a weaker team. Then there's only 6 lads that are 90-95. Of those, Hodge and Burgoyne are seriously getting on, Hibberd has ASADA hanging over him, BSmith will cop a hell of a lot more attention this year, and HShaw is well... Heath Shaw lol. There's too many risks hanging over these guys to start too many of them (I currently have KSimpson, Shaw and Hurn).
After this group there are 26 boys that averaged 80-90 (including Fisher tho who went 92 but is priced at 83). Plus guys like Lumumba, Ibbotson and co who have the ability to go 80+ or higher.

It means that you can have a 20-25th ranked defender and he won't be too far away from the top bracket.

Then on Ibbo.
In the role that Ross has him playing atm, he averaged 94 two years ago. Last year was severely affected by injury though.
He had shoulder surgery in the off season. Shoulders are a short turn around and your still able to complete conditioning programs early on. He has been fully training since January.
Its true though that I expect our other key defenders to determine Ibbo's role. If 3 of Dawson, McPharlin, Silvagni, Johnson are named RD1 then Ibbo should be given the freedom to score well. If only two are named then he may get a lockdown role (but I don't expect us to only name 2 keys). Atm Dawson is injured, as is Silvagni. So I won't be surprised if Ibbotson starts a little slow, but I don't expect it to last and he may pop up with some good scores that go against the trend.
He's priced at a 64 average, has the ability to go 90+, but only needs to average 82 to a) make 100k and b) jump in that top 20odd bracket of defenders. Which I believe will be perfectly fine this year in defence.

thoughts or advice on my team??
Yep no worries mate, I'll post in your thread as well

So basically between those teams it comes down to

Danger Newton Vandenberg
vs
Neale, Steven Hogan

On paper, the bottom one will score the most points but looking at your team structurally and in terms of cash generation i would definitely go with the top one mate. It just makes your side so much more balanced

DEF: Perfect structure here mate. I like Bob as a POD as well. Shaw is a great premo pick, Newnes/Lumumba/Goodes are all great value, and Saad at D6 is fine. Nothing wrong here. Just consider NBrown at D8 for JS reasons.

MIDS: Love your top 3. Not 100% sold on Parker, I don't think he can improve on last years output. Breakout players find it hard to improve again after such an elite season, but if your sold on him then back yourself in. Danger is a great pick at his price, has the ability to go 110+. Rookies are fine too.  Be careful with Miller, when GAJ and Jaeger come back in he might be pushed out. Consider Cockatoo.

RUCK: Premo picks are perfect, I really like Maric this year. Might need to keep some cash on hand for your R3. Just in case guys like Phillips get named and noone else does. I'm a big believer of ruck cover.

FWDS: Again, top 3 picks are perfect. For your rookies also consider Karnezis, Hogan, Lamb over Lonie and Kraks.

Nice team mate, can't really fault except a few rookies to fix up but that will be more clear when teams are named

No worries man lets hav a look
DEF: Absolutel ynothing wrong here at all mate. Premos and rookies are perfect
MIDS: haha again there's nothign wrong. Premos are perfect as are rookeis. Also consider Cripps if he doesn't get the vest on Thursday night
RUCKS: Great premo picks are Belly as cover.
FWDS: Love the Bartel POD, Dusty is a great pick and Swan is a must. We'll know whether Belly is playing RD1 after the hearing this afternoon but he's great cover if he gets off the charges. Rookies are perfect, also consider Karnezis.

Mate honestly this is a great side, well done

Rico, here is another team for you to check out....

Def: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba, Goodes, Saad - McIntosh, Adamson
Mid: Fyfe, Pendlebury, Parker, Deledio, Neale, Cripps, Anderson, Heeney - Ellis-Yolmen, Vanderbarg, Miller
Ruc: Goldy, Maric - O'brien
Fwd: Bartel, Martin, Swan, Bontempelli, Salem, Clark - Byrne, Lambert

I know GC boys might not make the cut with a full squad, but as usual rookies will change until teams announced.
Neale is my only question mark atm...  believe he will breakout, but there is a cloud....

Thoughts?

Hey Rico, any suggestions here?

DEF: Prety weak tbh mate. I barely recommend starting one onfield rookie, let alone 2. Goodes shouldn't be higher than D5 so I'd look to upgrade a rookie here. Also be careful with your bombers boys, its looking more and more likely that the'll miss the start of the year with bans. Love your Hurn POD pick though, as well as HSHaw.

MIDS: Great top end premo picks mate, and rookies are fine. Also consider Cockatoo, Newton, Lambert though. Probably for Boekhorst and Steele.

RUCKS: Perfect, nothing wrong here mate

FWDS: Great premos and really like TMitchell as a risky pick mate. Think he'll have a ripper year. For your rookies also consider Karnezis and Lamb instead of Saad.
