Hey Rico would love your thoughts on this side mate.

BACKS: K.Simpson, H.Shaw, M.Hibberd, J.Newnes, H.Lumumba, A.Saad (H.Goddard, J.Hamling)
MIDS: S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, J.Kennedy, J.Watson, R.Griffen, P.Cripps, I.Heeney, B.Boekhurst (C.Ellis-Yolmen, J.Steele, N.Krakouer)
RUCKS: N.Naitanui, M.Leuenberger (T.Read)
FWDS: D.Martin, H.Bennell, D.Swan, T.Bellchambers, C.Salem, M.Clark (J.Hogan, K.Lambert)

$84,300 left

In the case of an ASADA intervention i would go:
Hibberd --> Gibson
Watson --> Dangerfield
Bellchambers --> FWD Rook (possibly Saad)
Leuenberger --> Goldstein

Also Krakouer could very well become N.Freeman again, depending on rd 1 selections.
DEF: Very very strong line mate, hard to fault. Premo picks are great and Lumumba is great value. Also consider NBrown and KMcIntosh for your rookies.
MIDS: Can't fault your mids either mate. Top end premos are perfect and Griffen looks like value. I'm not completely sold on him just yet for some reason though. ROokies are fine, but also consider Newton and Cockatoo.
RUCKS: Perfect, and with Belly as cover too.
FWDs: Love the Bennell POD. Just be careful that he may cop attention with GAJ out. Rookies also consider Karnezis and Lamb.

Yeh I like those changes if ASADA whacks Essendon too man. Not keen on Saad as a the fwd rook though, look at Karny or Lamb instead.

Hey Rico,

Ive seen a lot on the top 10 midfielders than everyone is choosing sloane over dangerfield... any reason for this considering he was averaging over 115 two years back? The only noticeable difference that i can find between his years is his ability to hit a target which he has apparently been working on....

Just wondering what your thoughts were between the two
I'd probably lean towards Danger over Sloane myself mate. There are doubts over Danger. The first being his contract talks hanging over his head. Personally I don't believe in it being a major issue on players' performances, but historically there is a pattern. The other concern is the way he plays, in that he bashes and crashes all day long and is often going into games very sore. I still prefer him over Sloane just because I don't like paying top dollar for guys that have just come off a breakout year. Its really hard to replicate such an elite season and for everything to go right again. I think Sloane will sit in the 106-112 range, but I expect Danger to do the same, giving Danger the nod as value for money.

Hey man , I know you've probably gotten a lot of teams lately but I would appreciate your thoughts on this one
Backs : Simpson, Shaw, Gibson, Lumumba, Goodes, McIntosh, (Saad, Brown)

Mids: Pendles, Selwood, JPK, Lewis, Dangerfield, VanBerlo, Newton, Anderson  (Vandenberg, Heeney, Miller)

Rucks: Goldstein, Nic Nat (Nankervis)

Forwards: Deledio, Bartel, Swan, Clark, Hogan, Steele (Lonie, Lamb)

24.7k leftover
DEF: Love the premo picks and both Lumumba and Goodes will be great value. Not much wrong with this line mate.
MIDs: Again your premo picks are solid. I personally don't think Lewis will improve this year so I'm not that keen on him, but thats just my thoughts. Danger is a great value pick, and your rookies are fine.  Also consider Cockatoo and be careful with Miller. When GAJ and Jaeger return he'll probably be pushed out.
RUCKS: Perfect, very solid. Just keep an eye on R3 as you'll need cover.
FWDS: Strong premo picks again and rookies are fine except Steele. He didn't play in NAB3 so will be hard to see him line up RD1. Look at Salem or Karnezis here.

Yarran, 137 + 103 in his two games, worth a look? 440k.
Ultimate risk and reward pick. Guaranteed to get an injury and be subbed, but will also put up big scores for a defender. I'm personally not going near him, but there is value there.

Thoughts on james kelly in defence?? nice POD, more time in the mid for the cats and that DE% is grouse!
You pay for what you get with him mate. Nothing wrong with him as a POD at all

I have a plan if gaj is left out
Hey man, lets have a look

DEF: Love Shaw and Gibson at D1 and D2. I'm not sure Taylor will get as much freedom to do as he pleases like he has in NAB. I'm not sold but thats just me personally. Newnes and Lumumba are great value picks. And rookies are fine at this stage. Also consider Goodes if he gets an upgrade. Overall a really strong line

MIDS Very strong mate. Top end premos are perfect. As for your rookies, I think you need to consider 1-2 of Newton, Cripps and NVB. Also Miller may struggle to hold his spot when GAJ adn Jaeger return.

RUCKs: Goldy is a great pick and Leuey is good value if he can still score well with SMartin in the side. I'm not sold he can though. Also keep in mind you'll have to upgrade R3 to give you some decent cover. Who that is, I'm not sure yet. Possibly Phillips from GWS.

FWDs: Perfect line mate, can't really fault it. Bartel is a great POD, and rookies are fine.

Overall its a really strong side mate, just a couple of rookies to fix up.

:( Is it really a guarantee he gets injured?

History would suggest so man unfortunately

2014: Two subbed games for 38 and 9
2013: One subbed game for 54 and one more injured game for 2. Plus 3 games he started as the sub
2012: Two subbed games for 30 and 20. Plus an injured game for 58 and 2 more games he started as the sub.

G'day Rico,

I have built 2 teams, and I would like to know which one you prefer, and why.

Team 1:

DEF: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes Lumumba, Dalgleish, Saad (Oxley, McIntosh)

MID: Pendlebury, Selwood, Sloane, JPK, Griffen, Rich, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Vandenberg, Steele)

RUCK: Maric, Naitanui (Read)

FWD: Gray, Goddard, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Lambert)

or Team 2:

DEF: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Lumumba, Dalgleish, Saad (Oxley, McIntosh)

MID: Pendlebury, Selwood, Sloane, JPK, Parker, Griffen, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Vandenberg, Steele)

RUCK: Maric, Naitanui (Read)

FWD: Gray, Bartel, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Lambert)

Don't worry about rookies, I will deal with them when round 1 teams are named, at the moment I just have my preferences in. Also, assume Essendon are free to field their strongest team.

Cheers,
Sam.

Hey Rico, you're a legend for doing this.

I would really appreciate some of your expertise for my team, this is the second version of it.

Backs: Simpson, Hibberd, Hurn, Lumumba, Geary, Brown.
Bench: Goddard, Saad.

Mids: Pendlebury, Fyfe, Selwood, Watson, Griffen, Van Berlo, Cripps, Heeney.
Bench: Boekhurst, Vandenberg, Freeman.

Rucks: Naitanui, Luenberger.
Bench: Cox.

Forwards: Martin, Swan, Bontempelli, Mitchell, Clark, Salem.
Bench: Hogan, Krakouer.

Cash: $9,600.

The players in bold are ones that I have having worries about, so would love your insight on them and also my rookie selections. I've been away for all of the NAB cup, so I'm just going off what I have read.

Thanks in advance mate.

Hey mate, started a thread on my side, but I thought I'd get a fellow Dockers opinion. Got a heap of cash to spend, thinking of upgrading NicNat, Wells or maybe Ibbo, although I think he will have a higher scoring role this year (biased?). If I drop Gaz then I'll bring in Selwood or Beams and keep the extra cash for a Gaz upgrade. Cheers for any advice given.

Rico, would love to hear your thoughts on these 2 options.

OPTION 1:
RUCKS: Goldstein, Naitanui (Read)
FWDS: Martin, Bennell, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Lambert)

OPTION 2:
RUCKS: Naitanui, Luenberger (Read)
FWDS: Martin, Bennell, Swan, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark (Hogan, Lambert)

In other words, would you rather have ruck coverage with Leuenberger, or get a better ruck with no cover.
Cheers mate.

Option 1 is very similar to mine at the moment. We have similar priced players.

DEF Very solid backline mate. Can't really fault anything here. I'm not a massive fan of Taylor but he's not a bad pick. Rookies ar efine. Also consider BGoodes. He'll get an upgrade next week.
MIDS Structure is great and your 5 premo's are perfect. Rookies are great as well. Be careful with Miller though. When GAJ and Jaeger come back into the side he may get pushed out.
RUCKS: Maric is a ripper pick. Not sold on Leuey but he is good value. And good to see a fwd/ruck as cover in your fwd lines. Although I think we need to start planning for life without Belly
FWDS: Love the structure and your premo picks. Like i mentioned above, you might have to look at alternatives to Belly. Rookies are fine but also consider Karny, Lamb and Lambert.
