Hey Rico, gone something a bit different with a strong forward line as i see most of them as pretty much midfielders anyway, still think my other positions are pretty decent apart from the defence (and obviously i will have to get lucky by getting 2 or 3 rookies named and Pearce being named round 1) but really don't like the premiums options back there, anyway, just another muck around team so will see what you think, its changing every day anyway.

DEF: H. Shaw, J. Gibson, J. Geary, C. Pearce, J. Macmillan, J. Hamling (S. Edwards, A. Saad)
MID: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, D. Beams, R. Griffen, N. Van Berlo, B. Newton, J. Anderson, A. Vandenberg (T. Miller, N. Krakouer, K. Lambert)
RUC: T. Goldstein, N. Naitanui (I. Soldo)
FWD: R. Gray, J. Bartel, D. Martin, H. Bennell, D. Swan, J. Hogan (C. Daniel, J. Lonie)

BYE STRUCTURE: 10/10/10

Yeh the defence is the main concern there mate. With quite a few fwd rookies available (Hogan, Clarke, Salem, Karnezis, Krakouer, Lambert, Steele, Membrey, Lonie, Lamb) I'm not sure this is the best strategy to go with man, not this year.

I like the idea of mid pricers in your backline, I just think you need to go one more premo stronger in that line. All other premo picks are fine here. Maybe look at Ibbotson over MacMillan, I'm not sold Mac is a great pick tbh. He has never been a good scorer. Gibson is a great selection, and will pick off easy footy now Hawks have added Frawley into that defence.

Your top end mids are proven and Girffen is decent value. Mid rooks are fine at this stage. Also consider Heeney and Cockatoo.

Rucks are strong with two great top end premos. Concern with no cover at R3 though mate. Keep enough cash on hand in case you need to upgrade Soldo slightly

And no concerns with your fwd line premos, just not a fan of the structure as mentioned above man.

Hey Ric, you think gray is a lock? Also, what do you think is the best strategy for overall?

Personally I don't mate. I think he's just come off a massive year and very very rarely to players replicate those years. There's a few reasons. Having similar preseasons, copping more attention from opposition, or even just the player's mindset changes yearly. I see Gray copping the #1 tag now and because he had such an elite year teams will put a hell of a lot more time into him. I think he'll still average enough to be a top 5 fwd, but I see him as an upgrade target.

and best strategy, as in structure? or something more specific?

Fair enough, I'm thinking the same. Structure :)

haha good, I'm not the only one :P

Ok I think this is the best structure at this stage

MIDS: 5 premos, 3 rooks

RUCKS: 2 premos, with Belly up fwd as cover OR an expensive rookie (180-200k) at R3 to give you room to move when one pops up. You have to have cover imo

FWDS: 2 premos with Belly at F3, OR 3 premos if you went expensive ruck cover at R3, and 3 rooks

DEF: 3 premos (including Lumumba/Newnes types), 2 midpricers, 1 expensive rookie (to give you room to move), OR  if no rookies pop up then 3 premos (including Lumumba/Newnes types), 3 midpricers

Obvioulsy it all changes if rookies start popping up in defence. But at this stage a majority of cheaper rookies are in the fwd line, meaning we can field 3 rookies here. Rucks are a headache, and I'm not sure what we'll do if Belly cops a ban and no rookie rucks pop up. Need to look at 5 premo's in the mids, or we'll fall behind quickly. And defence is all about midpricers this year, which i went into a bit more detail about my reasons for it a little while ago in here

Hi Rico, Tex again.
Thanks for the help with my defence, I found the 10k and got Simpson. I also got in Shaw, as a result of my next point. Right up the other end of the ground, i have decided that Gray will become an upgrade target, so I traded him and another forward, leaving me with $939k to spend on two forwards. Who do you suggest? Thanks again for the help

Hey Rico, would love you to have a look at my team :)

DEF: Simpson, Shaw, Birchall, Newnes, Pearce, N.Brown (Edwards, Saad)
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Kennedy, Griffen, Newton, Anderson, Heeney (Boekhorst, Vandenberg, Freeman)
RUC: Maric, Naitanui (Cox)
FWD: Deledio, Martin, Swan, Salem, Karnezis, Hogan (Lonie, Lambert)

Not much left over, if a decent R3 pops up for under 200k i'll probs get him in, other than that i'm fairly happy.

Hey mate, ok..
DEF: I like your Gibson POD man, he's certainly on my radar now Frawley has come into that side. Your top end premos are perfect, Ibbo is a great pic imo. Only concern is Whitecross at D5 and Goddard at D6. Most will have a midpricer at D5 and one of these boys at D6. I'd look to strengthen D5.
MIDS Top 3 are super strong and I'm all over Barlow as well. Steven is good value if you can see him getting back to his 105+ scoring. I'm not that keen on TMitchell in the middle mate, especially at M4. I love him as a pick in the fwd line, but not in the mids. I'd look to swap him with JMart and then upgrade your M4. Rookies in the midfield are fine at this stage, also strongly consider Newton.
RUCKS Very strong mate, especially with Belly as cover in your fwd line. Keep an eye on Jacobs though, he is on a modified training progam after coming back off a minor injury. So monitor him
FWDS; Very strong. Lids, BJ and Swan are all perfect picks. As much as I think JMartin will be a star, at his price he needs to average 84 to make you 150k, and then you still need upgrade him to a premo. He'd be the one that I would look to downgrade for cash and then upgrade you M4. For your rookies also consider Karnezis, Clark and Lamb

Overrall it just needs a bit of strength added to the back end of your defence and an upgrade to a stronger M4 mate

Haha I'll try mate ;)

DEF: Very strong. I really like this line. Simpson and Shaw are great top end premos, Lumumba is a good pick at that price and should get decent time in the Melb midfield. I'm more sold on Ibbotson than Geary, but I have both in my side too. and Whitecross at D6 can easily go slightly up or down to the best available rookie if he's not ready RD1.
MIDS: are solid mate. A few are going with 5 premo mids, but 4 is fine because you have the extra fwd premo. Mid rookies are fine.
RUCKS: NicNat is a lock, but Leuey is one to watch. Not sure how much SMartin will affect his scoring. And Bellchambers up fwd gives you good cover.
FWDS: Very strong. 4 premos and Bellchambers is solid as mate. Can't fault it.

So only real concern is Leuey mate. Keep an eye on him and how he goes playing along side SMartin

Good move in defence mate.

Up front I think these boys should be the first picked fwds (in order, based on a combo of value and scoring)
Swan
DMartin
Deledio
Goddard
Franklin
Gray
TMitchell
HBennell

Who do you already have?
