Thanks so much for answering all the questions i had, finally can you have a look at my team and offer any advice?

DEF: K Simpson, H Shaw, J Newnes, H Lumumba, S Higgins, K McIntosh (N Brown, A Saad)

MID: G Ablett, S Pendlebury, N Fyfe, J Steven, M Bontempelli, A Brayshaw, P Cripps, J Anderson (I Heney, C Ellis-Yolmen, T Miller)

RUC: T Goldstein, I Maric (T Read)

FWD: R Gray, D Martin, T Bellchambers, C Salem, M Clark, J Hogan (T Lamb, K Lambert)

$124k left over

Belly at F3 too weak IMO. Maybe downgrade one of Cripps/Brayshaw and upgrade belly to Swan?

Swan has waaaay too many owners, so i feel that he isnt worth it, and Belly provides cover for my ruck.

G'day Rico,

Do you think that Wells or Rich are realistic stepping stone to Ablett? Can you please rank these players as stepping stones to GAJ: Judd, Neale, Steven, Wells and Rich. Also, is there anyone else you would consider for this role?
Wells yes, Rich not so much. Think he'll cop a lot more attention with Hanley out of the team

Steven > Wells > Neale > Rich > Judd

Thanks Rico! So you think that Wells will generate enough cash to be turned into Ablett when he (hopefully) falls in price? It's not too ambitious?
Yeh I can see him making 120k while pushing a 90ave. I wouldn't expect much more though.

Although personally I'm of the view that the best way to get GAJ in is through rookies. Decent rookies should make 200-250k, so 2 downgrades and 1 upgrade will get you GAJ

That is very appealing because then I will have more money to spend on other lines. But is it too wasteful to trade two rookies out early on for GAJ?

Also, is it too risky to start Lumumba and Higgins in the same team? Sorry for rapid-fire of questions.
Not wasteful at all mate. We have plenty of trades and its the only way to get guns in. It'll be the same for those who don't start Rocky and he performs at a similar level. Most teams will upgrade very very early.

Lumumba carries no risk imo. I do have concerns about Higgins but if your keen on him then starting both is fine

haha all good mate, thats what i'm here for

Thanks so much Rico!

OUT: Stepping stone.

IN: Dom Sheed.

I have a few teams to choose from now and I'd like your thoughts Rico!  :)

Team 1:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Sheed, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Goldstein, Nic Nat (Read)

FWD: Gray, Bartel, Swan, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Steele)

- This is probably the SAFEST team but maybe not the best. To get Ablett, I would just be trading out 2 rookies.

Team 2:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Steven, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Mumford, Nic Nat (Read)

FWD: Gray, Bartel, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark, Lamb (Hogan, Steele)

- Mumford will belt out some HUGE scores early, rise in price, then I will downgrade him to Kreuzer as soon as he returns (round 4/5 probably), and that money will be used to upgrade Steven straight to Ablett.

Team 3:

DEF: Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (McIntosh, Saad)

MID: Pendles, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen, Rich, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen (Heeney, Miller, Lambert)

RUCK: Mumford, Leuenberger (Read)

FWD: Gray, Swan, Mitchell, Bellchambers, Salem, Clark (Hogan, Lamb)

- Same deal with the Mumford/Kreuzer trade this time to upgrade Rich to Ablett. I feel content taking the risk with Leuenberger, especially since Belly is in my forward line as cover. I don't mind going an extra forward deep here either.

When looking at these teams, assume that Bellchambers is free to play round 1. If he's not, I will go from there.

Thanks,
BomberSam.

Hi Rico,
just wondering what your thoughts are on my team and if I should make any changes?
I was looking at swan/nic nat to bellchambers which also frees up some cash and then a midfielder upgrade to ablett. thoughts?

I have $94,000 left for any upgrades

Backs: Simpson, Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Goodes, Brown. (McIntosh, Saad)

Mids: Fyfe, Selwood, Beams, Dangerfield, Griffen, Newton, Cripps, Ellis-Yolmen. (Heeney, Vandenberg, O'brien)

Rucks: Goldstein, Nic Nat. (Lucey)

Forwards: Gray, Martin, Swan, Salem, Clark, Hogan. (Lamb, Krakouer)

Thanks for your help

Got anything for me Ric? Cheers

H.Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Higgins, Goodes, Oxley (Hamling, Saad)
Ablett, Fyfe, J.Selwood, Beams, Dangerfield, Cripps, Anderson, Heeney (Yoleman, Miller, Krakeour)
Goldstein, Maric (Read)
Gray, D.Martin, H.Bennell, Salem, Clark, Tarrant (Lamb, Lambert)
2k
DEF: Top 3 picks are perfect mate. I'm not sold on Higgins, I don't think he'll be a top defender and may be in and out of North side. Goodes is a great value pick. For your rookies also consider NBrown and KMcIntosh.

MIDS: Love your premo picks and Danger mate, think he is great vallue. Be careful with Miller, when GAJ and Jaeger come back in he may be pushed out. Also Kraks hasn't been upgraded yet, and Anderseon is a sub risk. Consider Vandenberg, Newton, and Cockatoo.

RUCKS: Perfect premo picks amte, keep some cash on the side to get a more expensive rookie at R3 as cover. That way when teams are named you have a little wriggle room.

FWDS: Prefect mate hard to fault. Grab Hogan or Karnezise over Tarrent though mate, don't think he'll be a great scorer in defence.

Cheers for that Ric! Have you got your team up I'll happily return the favour!
I decided to go:
Gaz to Pendles
Krakeour to cockatoo
Few rookie switcheroos

I like Tarrant was impressed with his nab 2 and 3 performances. I feel that forward instinct of been attacking in defence could result in some consistent significant scores compared to hogan who will be very inconsistent at the dees.

Higgins' role is what entices me the most mid/fwd role named as a defender I'm happy to risk only 82-88 from him

Jay

Hey Rico, really want to pick Ablett, Fyfe and Steven but will this screw me up too much come bye time?

Cheers mate

Hey man, alright lets have a look
DEF: Only fault is Higgins mate, would much rather Goodes that him. He'll average similar and is much cheaper
MIDS: Top 4 are ripper picks. Not a fan of picking fwd premos in the midfield though mate. If you want a dpp link then look at rookies. So i'd look to upgrade Bonts to a premo mid. Rookies are fine at this stage but be careful with Miller , when GaJ and Jaeger come back in he'll struggle to stay in the side.
RUCKS: Perfect mate, nothing wrong here. Especially with Belly dpp link.
FWDS: Again hard to fault, good premos and rookies. And we'll know the verdict on Belly tomorrow

Belly at fine at F3. A few will go with only 2 premo fwds as there are so many decent rookies available in our fwd lines this year
But we still need to find out whether he is copping a ban or not

I'd still consider Swan mate. He's such a lock at that price

what do you think Rico?

Hey legend lets see

DEF: Love this line mate, very strong and well structured. Hard to fault. Rookies are fine as well. Also consider NBrown just for JS reasons
MIDS: Again, great balance and your top end premo picks are perfect mate. Griffen is good value too. Rookies are fine for now but also consider Newton, Cockatoo, vandenBerg. Main concerns are Miller (when GAJ and Jaeger come back he may get pushed out), and Steele (most likely won't be there round 1).
RUCKS: GOldy is a great premo pick. Concerned that Belly will cop his ban but we'll know this tomorrow.
FWDS: Structurally perfect with 3 premos and 3 rookies. Like this line mate

Gil Gunderson

Hey mate hows my side look to you?

Shaw, Newnes, Harry L, Ibbo, Whitecross, Hamling
Edwards, Saad

Gaz, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Cotchin, Newton, Cripps, Heeney, Freeman
Ellis Yolmen, Steele, Lambert

Mumford, Nic Nat
McKernan

Goddard, Martin, Bennell, Swan, Clark, Hogan
Salem, Karnezis

$93,000

Option 2 for me man. Much better balanced and I love the Mummy/Steven combo. Plus Belly gives you good cover

Nah mate keep as is. This team is hard to fault and I like its structure. Keep that cash on hand to fix up your rookies. Looking mostly at O'Brien, Luvey, Krakouer.
