The problem with this sort of pick is someone goes and averages 90+ for 200k.

Can't see any standout candidates to be honest. NVB will average 70-80, Biggs is still an unknown quantity, Brayshaw may be rested from time to time, Cripps hasn't yet cemented his place & Petracca is out for the year. The upside of the Wells selection is significant, particularly if he starts strongly.
Revisiting this. I'm getting a feeling about Jono O'Rourke. If not to do a Tyson... possible to do a Polec.

Last year I picked a guy with foot injuries who was a high scorer in the past I'm daisy Thomas.

I learn from my mistakes.

It all depends on how he's traveling preseason, I wouldn't rule a line through his name just because Daisy was a spud. Thomas was also finding his feet at a new club with a new coach, easier said than done.
Well new club but old coach :P

Wasn't there doubt about Thomas even being able to get up and play games in 2014? There's no doubt he was underdone going into round 1 at the very least.

Spite

Wells averages highly against his first few opponents too. Was in my first draft of my team, upgraded him to tom mitchell for the extra 40k at this stage but I can definitely see the value of this pick Bully.

meow meow

In the nab game just gone Wells played half forward, started well then got tagged out of the game before being subbed off. Not that impressive.

Exactly, Wells doesn't need much of the ball to make an impact, I certainly haven't ruled a line through his name.

fasttrack13

Who didn't play though?

bottlemart

not subbed off.

rested, to make him cherry ripe for the real season.

Very good performance from Wells from what I've heard.

and he is also a proven scorer in losses averaging 99.

Shouldn't be an issue playing at North!

Pretty sure cracking into the Hawks side is going to be a whole lot tougher than what Tyson & Polec had to deal with...he will get games but only consistently if injuries occur...whose place out of the 2014 GF is he going to take?

Great thread this one with many valid points

Wells wasn't even on my radar

Is age catching up with him? I think so but then people wrote off Luke Hodge as finished 2 years ago so perhaps not really something to consider.

Swallows fitter, Higgins comes along, Dal will be running around, Wait will kick a few bags...the jigsaw at the Roos gets closer to completion which makes the players believe in themselves. Confidence is massive in footy

It could be argued that Wells scored well when the Roos were an average side...now theyre being touted top 4 contenders. Is this another ridiculous thing to consider?

Think of all the cash cows you've had to desperately trade in with only 100K profit over the last few years. Its a given Wells will increase by >100K IMO

Overanalysing things is easy to do in a game we enjoy..there are so many variables in SC

Just like many players in the system, Wells will not be a bad selection at all...SC is >80% luck...

There is no way possible you will lose money on him...losing money in SC is the number 1 thing we want to avoid as coaches

The main consideration needs to be is that you are using him as a stepping stone into a 110+ upgrade at some time..I don't think wells can go 110+...but then again.....

75sc in 60% tog is extremely impressive.

If you worked it out, at only 80% tog he would've scored 100 and if you were to go a step further, 85% would see him score 106

Think 85% tog is good and with that type of score in mind, he is a very relevant choice at this stage

Bully

Played well today, I think he represents too much value to ignore, very close to being a lock for me.
