Waters is retiring tomorrow so he needs to go.

I can see you have 12 keepers and potential keepers in Ibbotson and Walters but that defence won't hold up.

Drop Gray and a premo mid or ruck to get cash to upgrade the defence.

haha doubt it.. Gray stays. He is an elite pod and this year he will explode. T Mitch will struggle to get games again this year.

the back line options are so bad this year it really doesnt matter who you pick up. Thats why you may as well take mid priced smokies.

I'm thinking I will be able to pick up a decent rookie once NAB cup sheds some light.

Obviously if TMitch doesn't get named round 1 you wouldn't pick him. But at this stage it seems as though he'll be best 22, and should get a decent amount of midfield time and could score well. Gray is unlikely to increase his average again, so it's more likely that at some point he'll be cheaper than his starting price, and will be a good pickup then. Just because there aren't really any defenders that can go 100+ this year, it doesn't mean you settle for crap.

cuz_crew

ok but if i upgrade a defender to a better defender im looking at 10 extra points per round.

If I downgrade a super prem mid or gray I lose the 120 - 150 super bomb potential.

A 260k defender to Birchall will gain you beteen 20-30ppg
Gray to TMitch loses you maybe 15-20 at worst.

Ideally you would have WhiteX at D6.

Those 3 rookies at D6-D8 very unlikely to play round one.

A lot of FF coaches are going to only start with 4 premo mids to plug up the defence.

If your Downgrade Fyfe to Biggs/Brayshaw you lose say 30-40 points but you would gain say 50-60 by bringing in Simpson for Viojo-Rainbow or Wigg

That will change after Nab and i hope everyone does stack the lowest scoring line of the 3 main lines it gives my 5 super premo mids the advantage vs your extra defender.

Actually not a bad team mate + those 2 360k ish blokes can change to others in price range if they cement spot/show well in Nab.

If some backline rookies pop up, then I'd be very surprised to see midfields with only 4 premos. But at this stage there isn't really any, so it's kinda down to which line you wanna weaken; Mids, Rucks, or Forwards? With Kreuzer going down, Belly available as a FWD, and Leuey to share ruck duties with Martin and injury prone, I'd prefer set and forget rucks. Then there's quite a few cheaper options in the forward line, so I'm happy to go with a 4 premo midfield.
Also depends on what tier of premiums you pick, so to speak (e.g. top end like Rocky vs bottom end like Swallow)

Some interesting picks in there cuz.

Ones I don't like
Hibberd - ASADA, cross that bridge when you get to it but I wouldn't count on him
Hodge - just not much upside for me and I think others can out do him, I expect he'll drop out of top 10
SMitchell - not as a mid, yes he killed it in NAB against pies but wouldn't expect that in regular season and think he'll average 100-105 at best. Possibly serviceable as an M8 but I think with the cows available in mid you're better of reinvesting the cash in a rookie and upgrade somewhere else.
Heeney - we haven't seen him play yet but what are his realistic chances of cracking inot the swans best 22 on a regular basis? I think slim.
Berger - again just not much upside, with the change in ruck rules and Martins entrance as main ruck I don't think he's as good value as he may seem. Here is where I would reinvest Mitchell money.

Calls I'm not ballsy enough to make:
Rocky and Gray - simply, can they back up last year? A lot to fork out
Lids - would rather see him play a couple of games, great player but achilles niggles worry me

I actually really like this team.
Maybe Gray>Martin and then try and get someone in for Mitchell maybe Wines :)
would love your thoughts on my team.

Gandalf123

nice side, i would try and swap hodge for someone else, look at downgrading Mitchell to a Biggs/Cripps and Gray to a Dusty/Buddy, and use the extra cash to try and move brown off and WhiteX to D6

Yeah agree with this, downgrade Gray and upgrade Mitchell.

Grey wont or shouldn't start as he ended last year so will drop in price then jump all over him
