Guys like Houli & Hurn will give you the same ave they do every year, decent picks like your Enrights but no real upside, at least Lamumba has upside with a new lease on life at a new club & talk of more mid time.

IMHO either pick the top Premos (hard to find many backs this year) or go for a player with upside i don't see the point in these 450k backs who will just deliver what they do ever year, would only go a Enright type player if he was the last spot to fill and no better options at that price.
So don't pick Pendles then, cause he'll do what he does every year?

btw we are talking about backmen not mids and i clearly stated imo either go top premo back Simpson ect or someone with upside...Newnes,Lamumba or Smith who is kinda premo with upside.

Surley you can understand the difference between a Pendles and a Enright my friend? Mid & Back? Old & Young? super Premo & ageing decliner?  8)

You included Hurn as someone who has no upside, and that Lumumba would be a better pick. You basically said "Go with someone who may or may not improve because they changed clubs instead of someone who has gone 90+ unsubbed the last few years"

Well the 34 that have currently all voted for Hibberd are wrong, because he'll do what he does every year and give you a 90-95 and be a top 6 defender... Apparently... Mmmmmkaaay.....

kilbluff1985

why you have Lamumba but not Newnes  :o

To be fair, ''may or may not'' would be the risk factor that is associated with the term ''upside'' and yeah Lamumba has it this year, hoping for a modest 85+ and it helps if you are happy playing for your team.
Hurn i read the same stats and comments after the 2013 season saying he was undervalued slightly because of a few injury affected games..happened again last year i see...so other than captaincy i see no upside, he's role won't change and he will still cop the fwd tag you know what you are getting with him.
So i think at 417k Lamumba represents better value than say a Enright or Hurn.

So you're saying that you would pick a potential 85 avg defender over a 90+ defender because the 90+ one is probably not gonna improve, or go down? I don't understand your logic. Have I interpreted this correctly cause I'm flowering confused.

Was never talking about the Backline top Premos like Eski,shaw,hibberd,smith,simpson..was talking about the guys just under them 450-475k ish, and that was my point either pick one of those top guys for 25k extra or take a bloke with more upside and value for money.it's only my opinion lol i could be wrong hmmm but nah i had Enight last year those kinda guys just annoy you by years end.

Hurn is 50k more so he's 90 vs Lamumba's 85 (would be my risk taking assumption) would be better value and newnes would be better value as well at 90+ for less.

Hurn.
2009: 93 (best ever)
2010: 84
2011: 82
2012: 91
2013: 87
2014: 86

So we are talking low 90's at best and yeah i think Lamumba will go near him for 50k less and Newnes will beat him.
so my point stands in the BACKLINE this year look for value or the top end premos around 500K.

H1bb3i2d

Hurn will go 90+ barring injury no troubles whatsoever, that's the only thing that's pulled his scores down the last 2 seasons.

GoLions

2014 unsubbed - 91.65
2013 unsubbed - 94.73

If you're not picking him because you don't trust his body, that's fair enough. But if you're not picking him due to his scoring ability, then you have very high and unrealistic standards for your top 6 or so defenders this year.

Mat0369

Hurn's body is what worries me which is why I have him as an upgrade target potentially
