How many "breakout" players will be on your team?

These are the players you expect to hit the top bracket for their position but who aren't quite a mid pricer or a premo either. Think David Swallow, Robbie Gray and Luke Parker last year. Good popular examples this year are Newnes in the back, Wines in the mid and TMitchell in the fwd. I reckon I'd probably include under-priced players like Andrew Swallow or Jack Steven if you think they'll be pushing top 10, even though they've already technically had their break out.

I feel like every team should have atleast 1 of these types to set them apart. Even 2. Maybe 3. 4 could be pushing it. You'd need serious cahones for 5+.

I won't ask you to name your smokies ;) but I'm interested to hear what positions you have them.

Currently have 1 in the back and 1 in the fwd. Obviously this is veeery subject to change, and I have a list of about 6 that I need to choose from.

I downgraded Birch to Newnes, so I currently have these guys

Newnes
La Bamba (to become top 10)
Hanners

I have two stepping stones which are subject to change

Pearce down back and Nicholls/Kreuz in the ruck

and I also have two POD premiums in Sidebottom and Harley

Sounds like your team's far from cookie cutter. I like it. Watch out for Nicholls though with Zac Smitch back. Sidebottom's a good pick, but are you starting with pendles too?

Sure am, currently have Gaz, Pendles, Sidebottom and Hanners.

Nicholls will play with Dixon injured again, I think Smith is the guy they play more forward in that situation but the plan is round 1 if Kreuz is named sole ruck I go with him, if there are two rucks named for Carlton but both Smith and Nicholls are named for GC I go with Nicholls.

frenzy

2 backs
1 mids
2 rucks
2 forwards and 1 premium forward that I'm hoping turns super premo. Devon Smith.

Unless swan counts as a breakout (I don't)

Zero.

I pay for proven players.

Backs: Newnes. May go Hurn to Lumumba if I need the cash.

Mids: none. Why bother.

Rucks: Kreuz doesnt really count.

Forwards: none. Why bother.

I like it. 9 times /10, they dont break out. So that puts you ahead of 90% of the other teams already!

Dayze

I will have three of Newnes, Yeo, docherty or Seedsman. Hoping two work out and upgrade the other.
Don't see the point in taking a punt on the other lines.

Had Toby Greene at M5 but went safe with either Jpk of Watson.

Jeez round 12 should be fun :P

I'd be picking Kreuz over Nicholls, but to each his own

I can see why you would, but keep in mind last year's winner started with Swallow, Parker and Gray. Make or break for sure, but how else will you seperate yourself from the crowd?

But behind the 10% that matters

You watch what happens when the real stuff starts and react quickly. I brought Gray in round 5 and parker reasonably early too.

Yes if you can pick the breakout players perfectly go ahead. If you can your a better player than Me.

My Chumps
