Does this mean anything? If somebody has got the time it would be interesting to see the 2013 list and how they went in 2014. My guess is that there is no pattern.

Hagebear

Have currently got Treloar and Greene pretty much for this reason.

So will I still be considered bias if I pick Rocky, Redden, Beams and Rich to start off with?

I'm not saying it's written in stone that these players will replicate their 2014 scores but would you prefer players who have a good recent record against their opponents or a poor one? It's simply another tool to use along with progression, role, fitness, environment etc. What weight you put on the information is up to you.

TheBeatles

Spot on mr Craig good info
I'm thinking sidebum from the start this year, what's everyone thoughts on his scores with beams gone? Will this have an effect or not

Mr.Craig

I think the general consenus is it won't have much effect. Pendles likely to get any tag and Sidey just finds a way to rack up.

Had a little time on my hands. Just did a few of interest. First 6 games average again, season average in the second column.

Rockliff
2013 - 103.3 | Season average - 109 and he interestingly finished the season with 9 straight tonnes including a few big scores.
2012 - 114.8 | Season average - 97
2011 - 103.6 | Season average - 113

up-and-down. no real correlation. if anything it suggests that he's a quick starter every second year i.e. not this season :P

Ablett
2013 - 136.1 | 128
2012 - 145.0 | 138
2011 - 118.2 | 127 - should note tho that this was his first season with the Suns and we all should remember how he struggled the first few games of the year with his new young team.
2010 - 155.2 | 129

Traditionally a seriously quick starter then you would have to say.

Scott Pendlebury
2013 - 134 | 126
2012 - 129 | 124 (incl. a 62 vs Carlton and the Carrazzo tag)
2011 - 123 | 129 (incl. his only non-century for the year vs Carlton)
2010 - 106 | 110

So I'd say he's generally a quick starter but as we know, generally struggles against the Carrazzo tag.

Joel Selwood
2013 - 115 | 118
2012 - 123 | 117
2011 - 124 | 116 (both averages not incl. his concussion forced 24 vs the Saints in Round 1)
2010 - 107 | 117

quick in 12' and 11' but slow in 10' and 14'

Beams
2013 - N/A - only played 7 games at the end of the season so I'm not counting it.
2012 - 97 | 122 - finished the season with 12/13 centuries
2011 - 83 | 100
2010 - 82 | 84

history suggests he's a slow starter then.

Fyfe
2013 - 109 | 106
2012 - 97 (only including his first 3 games played before injury in R5 - not including the injury/sub game in R3) | 93
2011 - 111 | 108

so above average over the first 6 games... until last year. Nothing to really read into here.

JPK
2013 - 113 | 105 - had that groin injury late in the season that contributed to his low average for the season
2012 - 131 | 120
2011 - 91 | 96
2010 - 85 | 81

so you'd say he's certainly not slow off the mark but isn't exceptionally quick (bar 2012).

Jobe Watson
2013 - 114 | 111
2012 - 119 | 121
2011 - 114 | 106
2010 - 108 | 107

Not particularly quick.

So after doing all that it's become apparent that there is next to no pattern amongst the leagues elite, apart from GAJ who tends to average well above his season average in the first 6 games.
