Tbh my man crush for his game atm blinded me, could have picked an established stat line, I really think he could be the best allround player to ever play the game, would love to see AD n KD have a 1 on 1 game, AD has handles as he was a point guard before his growth spurt.
Knew u would love the Boston flavor, was worried u were gonna snipe P double on me :P

Looking forward to the judge by judge reveal  8)

Votes are in. Countdown to come tomorrow :)

I was probably too hard on one team so it will be interesting to see how the other teams voted

#138
Team Levis
PG: Oscar Robertson
SG: Steve Nash
SF: Elgin Baylor
PF: Larry Bird
C: Kareem Abdul Jabaar
Guard: Pete Maravich
Wing: Bernard King
Big Man: George Mikan

Judge's Comments:
A lot of really great players, a few from different eras and a couple that it would be impossible to find footage of them playing in this day and age. The reason I gave the fit a 7 apart from a couple of guys I have no knowledge of, I think Nash has to play the point, I am not a fan of playing guys out of position and he has to be a primary ball handler. Same goes with Bird, while he can play the 3 and 4 I think you need to play him at the 3 even with today's NBA playing a bit of small ball.

Jayman's Comments:
Really interesting team this one, and is going to be a contender for this entire competition simply due to Kareem - in my opinion he's the #1 player in this format. With Nash, Bird and Kareem, this is going to be an elite offensive team with threats inside and out. I'm not sure if a backcourt of Oscar and Nash would play to each other's strengths though. If you're going with Nash you probably need a lockdown defender with him. I think Nash would effectively end up just being a spot up shooter on this team which is a slight waste of his ability, not saying he wouldn't be good in that role though. Well done, Levis :)

Riotchess' Comments:
Love the Oscar and Kareem pairing, even like the Bird pick but i think he would have been better suited at small forward in this format, guarding the likes of Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki he is giving up a lot of length with his lack of vertical leap.
I reckon your team would have been better balanced had u drafted a specialist shooting guard, Oscar, Nash and Pistol Pete are all great PG's, the problem i see is Nash carries the whole responsibility of the 3 point shooting in your back court as the other two played primarily before the 3 point line was brought into the NBA.

PG: Isiah Thomas

SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Karl Malone
C: Moses Malone
Guard: Clyde Drexler
Wing: Dominique Wilkins
Big Man: Nate Thurmond

Judge 2:

Judge's Comments:
The weakest player was the last pick in Thurmond but the rest are or will be all time greats including the best player ever. The reason I have a 7 for fit is apart from the fact that Jordan and Thomas hate each other but I probably would have only taken one of Dominique and the Glide. I think you needed another PG as Jordan and Durant would play big minutes. Clyde and Wilkins can both swing in that 2/3 spot to cover who comes off hence only needing 1.

Jayman's Comments: Unstoppable offensive team, probably the best of the lot. They all need the ball in their hands to be effective however so it would be interesting to see if, for example, Moses Malone could survive not even being a top 3 option on offence. I feel the big man defense would struggle though against team's like AFEV with Duncan and Wilt, as their is no real shot blocking. Perimeter defense is fine though, with IT and MJ. I'm not buying into the chemistry issues between IT and MJ, I think if they started together, they'd work it out and would actually suit each other. With the bench, I worry that Drexler and Wilkins are too similar, they both have the same strength - carrying an offense. Overall, this would be an insanely fun team to watch. Well done, Cookie :)

Riotchess' Comments: MJ and KD35 would work really, KD's game already has room for Westbrook, offensive chemistry could be an issue with so many high usage players, the other weakness i see is the two Malone's defensively, great players but are not 'shot blockers' Karl 0.8 and Moses 1.3 per game, both will be under sized playing other teams at 6'9 and 6'10 the elite offensive Centres are going to score to easily (examples, Jaymans bigs both 7'0 and legit shot blockers, against AFEV Wilt Chamberlain 7'1  :o :o :o ) That said with MJ and KD combining anything could happen.

Judge's Comments:
My fav team on paper, especially because there are a lot of guys that have prior chemistry and would mesh together. After reading Kobe's interview on Shaq and the fact they won rings together, throw in all the amazing players around them and the guys coming off the bench that can stretch the floor, this team looks unbeatable, even if they came up against the other greats.

Jayman's Comments: My favourite team. I'm struggling to find a weakness for it, I looked at possibly Curry and Allen's perimeter D but any defense with Pippen and KG is going to be elite no matter who you surround them with. The only thing I can think of is that KG and Shaq's offense drops off fairly quickly, so once they are out of their primes perhaps this team could struggle with a low post presensce - but I'm clutching at straws. This team looks unstoppable, and has 4 of probably the top 10 shooters ever with Steph, Ray, Pierce and Kobe. A KG and Shaq pairing is a complimentary pairing too, KG is so versatile offensively that Shaq can do whatever he wants down in the paint. Love it, Riotchess :)

Team AFEV
PG: Jason Kidd
SG: Jerry West
SF: Rick Barry
PF: Tim Duncan
C: Wilt Chamberlain
Guard: Allen Iverson
Wing: James Worthy
Big Man: Dikembe Mutombo

Judge 1:
Talent: 7

Judge 2:
Talent: 8
Fit: 7

Judge's Comments:
While Mutombo and AI are great players I think they are the weak links in terms of talent (a couple of guys I view as better availaible). The reason I gave the fit a 7 is mainly because of AI. A brilliant player, but never a team guy and in a format like this I think he causes issues.

Jayman's Comments:
The best team after two picks, Duncan and Wilt would be an absolute force together. Kidd and West is also a very good backcourt, Kidd for his defense and general triple double'ness and West with his silky smooth outside shot. I'm not sold on the Iverson/Wilt combination and I think there were better wing options than Barry and Worthy. I don't mind Mutombo coming off the bench, altering shots and doing Mutombo things. I would have gone with Parish in this spot though who plays a similar role just did it for much much longer. The player that saves this team is the never-ageing Tim Duncan, such an easy player to build around and will always keep this team competitive.

Riotchess' Comments:
I dont see any real weaknesses in this team, the balance is outstanding, doesnt even really require an explanation in strategy as u read the starting 5 u can visualize the classic style of basketball they would play.
Wilt Chamberlain and Tim Duncan working together :o bloody scary, could they be contained? the rest of the team fits so well together that i think the AI pick coming off the bench is a masterstroke, the instant offense makes the team more dynamic.
Team Jaymans Wade and LeBron Vs AFEV's West and Barry was the defining reason why the i ranked it in this order.

Judge 2:

Judge's Comments:
Probably the team I view as the most talented on paper, however and I am going to be harsh here, Stockton in my opinion doesn't fit this line up. I know Jay was going for longevity, but CP3 went undrafted and he would be a far better fit in this lineup as he is a better defender then Stockton and a better pure scorer. While Stockton was a good defender, he was nowhere near the defender that CP3 is at the position . That is my main problem with this team but I think it is enough to bump it down a couple
of points otherwise this would be my clear winner.

Riotchess' Comments:
The system and the players fit perfectly as articulated, this team spreads the floor the best, has the right type of complimentary pieces, Stockton a pass first PG that shoots 38% on triples, Rodman wouldnt care if he didnt take a shot, Reggie who does all his work curling off screens without the ball, the two Centres are elite passers and jump shooters 15-18ft for the position as well as legitimate defensive forces. Wade and LeBron are a proven duo that had ridiculous success in only 4 seasons, i wonder how many rings they would be wearing now had the been playing their whole careers together?

Team Holz

C: Bill Russell
Guard: Bob Cousy
Wing: George Gervin
Big Man: David Robinson

Judge 2:

Judge's Comments:
I really like this team as well, I just think that Riotchess's team would win a best of 7 series so I had to rank it slightly lower

Jayman's Comments:
David Robinson off the bench is flowering awesome, that's my instant reaction to this team. A really good balance of offense (Magic, Erving, Barkley) and defense (Havlicek, Russell, D-Rob). One problem is that considering we get exact careers, this team will have Magic retire early and I'm not sure it would be able to win without a prime Magic Johnson. In those Prime Magic years though, it would easily be one of the best teams in the comp. I like the pick of Cousy off the bench, as he has a similar style to your starting PG (pass -first). Barkey and Russell is a really good pairing, covering up the other's deficiencies. This team probably lacks one more elite outside shooter, if you replace one of Erving or Gervin with an elite 3pt shooter it would greatly improve the team.

Riotchess' Comments:
Another classic styled basketball team that has no obvious weakness, its well balanced and again u can visualize the way they would move the ball without an explanation.
I would love to see Team Holz Vs Team AFEV in a 7 game series, seriously cant really split them even when isolating each individual matchup. Russell Vs Chamberlain, Barkley Vs Duncan, Kidd Vs Magic, Worthy Vs Gervin 8)
