You don't necessarily have to start with him but who is your pick for a breakout year. They may might not even be the best pickup this year, but its just to give everyone some new ideas and maybe think about players they haven't even considered yet.

Mine is Stephen Coniglio. He is all class and ready for a breakout year

T Dog

I'll go with Gunstan at the Hawks. Looked the goods last year.

Mr.Craig

For the sake of this I'll say a breakout is an average 10 points higher than their career best.

Top 5 Picks

1. Ben Kennedy
2. Ben Lennon
3. Matt Crouch
4. Patrick Cripps
5. Ben Newton

All of them have been sub ravaged but are magnets at VFL/SANFL level. Given the opportunity they could go bang.

Ricochet

Nice Craigy.

Another big one is Guthrie. Imo he's ready to go too

Mr.Craig

It's annoying JOM is injured, I'd consider starting him otherwise. Might look at him as a POD upgrade during the year.

I agree with this one.
He is at that age and has put up similar scores or scoring cycles to some of the other forwards before they had a breakout.
It should be a good year for him but don't think you can pick him over some of the other forwards available with limited trades,if picking him in any form would have to go with AF due to the 2 trades a week.

Rusty00

Without thinking too hard I like Brad Crouch and Lachie Hunter as breakout contenders. I currently have Crouch in my team at the moment, but Hunter is too awkwardly price to give a run, given the forwards available this year.

Mr.Craig pretty much covered them all lol.

Eli Templeton could go alright, he looked great in the games he played last year before breaking his arm. He didn't score massive but the potential to improve is definitely there. AFL site has him in St Kilda's best 22, at $231,400 i wont be putting him in unless he was to go nutty in the NAB. Classed as a forward, talked about as possibly running through the midfield at times. Could ? have a break-out year.

St Kilda

B: Sean Dempster, Luke Delaney, Sam Gilbert

HB: Jarryn Geary, Sam Fisher, Jimmy Webster

C: Farren Ray, Jack Steven, Luke Dunstan

HF: Eli Templeton, Nick Riewoldt, Leigh Montagna

F: Jack Billings, Paddy McCartin, Tim Membrey

R: Tom Hickey, David Armitage, Maverick Weller

I/C: Billy Longer, Seb Ross, Jack Newnes

Sub: Shane Savage

Mr.Craig

Yeah, I should have added him too. Could go 52-55.

Seb Ross?

Ross tipped to step up and fill Lenny's void at Saints

ST KILDA will hand youngsters Seb Ross and Luke Dunstan more prominent midfield roles this season as the club prepares for life without departed champion Lenny Hayes.

Hayes, who retired last year after 297 games, was the Saints' leading midfielder in 2014, finishing second in the best and fairest and ranking No.1 at the club for clearances, contested possessions and tackles.

While senior midfielders David Armitage and Jack Steven will be expected to do the heavy lifting this year, the Saints are also backing Dunstan to build on his outstanding debut season and play a key role.

Richardson singled out Ross, who played 13 senior games last year, as a player who could graduate from a fringe role and cement himself in 2015.

"With Lenny moving on, Seb will get much more opportunity where he's at his best and that is on the inside," Richardson told AFL.com.au.

"For all the understandable reasons, he hasn't quite imposed himself on games, but last year when he went back to the VFL he dominated.

"He'd made that step to being an AFL player playing in the VFL and you'd walk away from games and say, 'He's just too good for this now'.

"At times he had to play half-forward and while he has to grow that part of his game, that doesn't really suit him. He's an inside player and his pre-season has been very strong."

Mr.Craig

Bit of an interesting one. He absolutely towelled in the VFL last year with scores of 93, 110, 139, 79, 145, 132, 99 and 91 (Ave: 111).

He's been pretty up and down in the seniors so far. Probably didn't help that he was in a team getting walloped each week.

One to watch in Nab, could be a good pick-up, nice work Ric.

henry

I really like Curtly Hampton. Looked good last year when he had the ball rebounding from half back and onto the wing, just needs to get more of the ball. With another pre season, I see him pushing an 80 average.

Adamant

I like the look of Adam Tomlinson as a breakout contender, he reminds me a lot of NRoo actually. Massive tank, big marking numbers, can play anywhere on the ground. Should have extra responsibility up forward with Patton out early.

Has gone 73.6 and 73.4 the past two seasons. Ready to explode.
