I have had Buddy all pre-season.

But just thinking about it, I am worried if he misses a game, that ruins the entire point of us picking him over say Lids or BJ.

Hasn't played 20 games since he kicked 100 goals. Think they're just as likely of happening again as each other - not very.

Boy did his late withdrawal cut deep in round 23 - was locked out with my VC on him too, (I'm busy Friday's), and my round ended in tatters (luckily, so did my opponent's  8) )... but still.... it hurt my overall.

Not saying he isn't a lock, structure and money and the fact there are plenty of midfielder/fwd dpp to choose from.

I see it this way. If there was a matchup where one team had Buddy, and the other had another of the other available forwards, I would want to have Buddy, every single week. Can only seeing him getting better this season.

And there is always a chance of him playing 20+ in a year. He's good enough to kick 100 in a season, his SC will be nuts if he does. I remember seeing the way he carved up a red hot Port Adelaide in match of the season (at the time) in the middle of last season. Carlile and the rest had no answers. If he did that to the best, he can do anything this season. So for me, it's a risk to not have him.

If horse hadnt rested half the team vs the Tigers he would have played 20 last year... bit shy of the 100, but also didnt have much of a preseason, unlike this year.

I remember reading last year articles saying buddies knee will always be a slight ongoing problem, not a big deal just means he is likely to get that couple of games rest a year...wouldnt bank of him playing over 20 18-19 would be my call

Spot on. Started the season last year awfully as we all know, had an interrupted preseason, looked unfit, less mobile than usual and was forced to play the lone lead-up forward role with Tippett out injured.

With K-Tips return, and after Buddy missed round 7 with a slight knee injury, from then on he averaged 119 with lows of 71, 72, 81 (GF) and 84 (qualifying final) and highs of 168, 155, 146 and 137.

I mean, I can understand why you'd value the consistency of BJ or the durability of Lids, but I personally think Buddy will be the top 1/2 forward for the season with Robbie Gray taking the other spot. Leave him out at your peril.
