What does the new bonus point rule do to his average? I really think he will be affected. Not selecting him at this stage as he is a wait and see for me as he really does step up in big moments.

To be honest I haven't read up on changes, other than ruck changes.

What is this bonus point rule you talk of?

It's not really "bonus points", it's the multiplier for effect on game, which has been reduced from a max of x4 to x2. Its basically impossible to tell who and how much players will be effected by this, as it was used at cd's discretion. U can assume someone who kicked a goal to win a game after the siren prob got his goal x by 4, however for games decided by half time players who did the most work here prob all got a x1.5 or something for stats like goals and clearances. That's my take on it, anyway...

Multiplier, bonus points same thing... Even still it will affect him. Numerous times did he take the game away from teams. That could really affect him a fair bit either way... Those extra points he scored would still be halved..

Money Shot

The more people that don't start buddy the more of a chance I have of winning.

Vinny

I have had Buddy all pre-season.

But just thinking about it, I am worried if he misses a game, that ruins the entire point of us picking him over say Lids or BJ.

Bingo

Mat0369

This is why I have Lids, BJ and Buddy.

The thing is all 3 missed games last season so you take the same risk with all of them. I would be confident in all three of these guys averaging 100+ and I made this point in another thread but will make it again

The team that Buddy averages the most goals per game and SC points per game in his career?

With an average of 5 goals per game (and bags of 9 twice, 8 once and multiple 5's) and 120.25 SC points against them, that team is Essendon and he plays them a grand total of once this year. That round is the very first of the season, the fact is if you are on the Buddy roller coaster you need the big scores and that is more then likely going to be one

Way off. 1.5 is a massave difference. In games where the result is decided early, first half goals might be worth 7-8 in the 1st and 2nd qtr, and worth 6 in the 2nd half. An uncontested mark and effective kick between the arcs might be worth 3 instead of 4 in the junk time stages but it's the same for both teams. The theory that players score less in losing teams is an absolute myth. More like they score crap because they play crap, and lose the game as a result of playing crap! Ayce Cordy got 24 SC points for the last goal in a losing match (2 points). Will be 12 SC under the new multiplier.
Also, clearances isn't a scoring stat. Same as inside and rebound 50's, they are of no use when determining SC scoring potential.

Speculator

I thought inside 50's and clearances were valuable for SC scoring? Anyone else know something about the scoring effect of these stats?

honza

My new policy on KPP is probably don't pick them up, and definitely don't start them - you can get them 100k cheaper 3 weeks after a rainy weekend.

I read an article or response to a question in the hs a couple of years ago saying they do count by way of giving more points for the effected possession. I have watched points tick up higher than normal for clearances and r50's in particular in the past, but seems MM knows better...

Most players who get the clearance are the ones getting the initial hard ball get (+3). Defenders are the ones who are able to get the most long kicks to advantage (+5).
