Here's my team in the event Whitecross gets up, not fat however, the rookies remain the same and Heeney has to be sacrificed.

Hurn missed 14 games in last 2 years and has never averaged more than 94

Shaw has only Been out concussed/being and idiot rarely if ever has he done muscle or bone damage. Likeliness if he didn't get concussed in the most unlikely ness of circumstances this year he would've played 20-22 matches.

Yes fair point, I'm even cooling on Hurn in favour of Lumumba.

Pretty solid team man!
cant really fault it!

Cheers mate, hopefully Whitecross gets up, if not then Lever or N Brown will have to come in.

Your team does look good, pretty similar to mine except you've managed to get an extra forward premium in by picking cheaper mids/defenders. My main concern though would be that all of Newnes, Lumumba and Ibbotson hang around the 80 mark, and all of a sudden you have to find 4 extra trades (1 to downgrade a rookie) to upgrade them, or alternatively leak 30 points each week. Not sure I would risk that

He has a fair point I would downgrade your least favourite premium/mid pricer and then get one or 2 'super premiums'

It is a risk but this year the top 6 defenders are so up in the air that I'm willing to roll the dice a little. The reason I've gone for Newnes & Lumumba is their onball status, I think 90+ is a pretty reasonable expectation. Newnes averaged 94 in the last 6 games he played in 2014, he's apparently fit and firing to continue that form. Lumumba was just shy of the 90 mark in 2013 and I'm throwing a bit of caution to the wind this year in the expectation that a new club and a more inside role will see his scores add an extra 10 points on his 2014 efforts. Ibbo is more of a cash cow for now, I'm hoping for an 80 average in the short term and will be looking at bringing in the best defender when it becomes apparent who that player will be. I'm working on the assumption that many will be rejigging their defense anyway, particularly if 3-4 players stick their hands up and start producing 105+ seasons. Malceski went from 90 to 105 last year, very few would have predicted that, Walker did something similar the year before.

It still remains possible that one of the midfield rookies turns in a blinding preseason and demands selection, in which case I'll downgrade either Cotch or Griffen and pick up Simpson in the backline. At the moment I'm leaving things how they are because both players will outscore Simpson and could potentially average close to 110. Griff also has a handy bye, if by round 13 he has performed below expectation then Rocky or Fyfe come straight into the side and I get the benefit of a premo midfielder not having to sit out a week, this alone can be worth 2-3 points on a yearly average.

This will probably be my side in the event that Whitecross doesn't get up, would prefer Simpson at D1 but this can only be achieved if a 102k defensive rookie pops up.

After talking myself out of Shaw I'm finding myself left with the uneasy feeling about having him in the side, I know he's bound to miss matches but hopefully it happens late in the season when some decent back-up is available. Don't want Hibberd, don't want Hodge and can't afford Smith. I guess on the brightside this is the cheapest Shaw has been in 4 years so he's probably worth the risk.

$300k should easily get you 60 points elsewhere, so that's ok. As far as Griff goes, someone came out and said it was all a load of B..

If $300k can get 60 points I'd love to see it mate, I'd assume it'd only net about 30-40 points at best.
That's alright then, but I still don't see him averaging above 107-108 at best considering the midfield at GWS

Woah, woah, woah. I'm only going by the magic number. If you can't get at least 50 points out of $300k, you're SuperCoaching wrong.

p.s. I can't see him averaging more than that, either.

Bully

I'm fine with Griff averaging 107, as a worst case scenario I may even trade him to Rocky in round 12 or Fyfe in round 13 to snatch an extra 60 points and lock in a super premo. This goes against convention but it makes me feel comfortable with the decision, it will effectively add 5 points to his mid season average.

Don't like the thought of spending so much in the backline but I simply don't want a guys averaging 50 at D6 (N.Brown).

Why McMillan? He has job security and will hopefully push 75 this year.

Samsturmfels

is Macmillan really worth it? if he only averages 75 (as you expecting him to) why dont u just downgrade him to a rookie, and spend the money somewhere else

I agree with this. Macmillan needs to average around 80 to get to around 400k to be a viable option as a stepping stone. I just don't think it is worth the risk.

How confident are you in Trent Cotchin to go say 105+ ? You are a tigers supporter so you would watch them closer than I would but after sticking with him for 2013 and 2014 I'm not going to take the risk with him again.

The Ibbotson pick is a good pick if all of McPharlin, Johnson and Dawson all are fit to play early as he won't get any attention across half-back. If Johnson misses early then I would expect he will cop attention and his output would be affected.

It is a platform and structure I cannot fault and we all are dependent on rookies before finalising our selections.

Money Shot

Great team maybe look at doing something like
Macmillan>Whitex
Cotchin>Ward

Think you get a 'super premium' and don't lose much points in the defence.

would love your thoughts on my team.

Bully

Ok, taken onboard some of the advice and have ditched the Kreuzer set-up. I have Whitecross in the mix but may have to downgrade/upgrade dependent on rookie availability. The big addition is Wells and I am pretty set on this selection barring some catastrophic preseason form. I really liked Pearce in the NAB cup so will go with him for now. Geary is another I'm particularly bullish about given the noise coming out of St Kilda that he'll be given more license to roam. Tom Mitchell is a new addition and I plan on keeping him as a floater if he doesn't quite make the top 6.

Bully

Slight adjustment based on Griffen's return to form, have managed to squeeze in Buddy into the forward line (with NVB being the sacrificial lamb). Ultimately I feel Heeney is a more than adequate replacement and should make more $. Contingency plan for Whitecross will be a Simpson or Shaw downgrade to Lumumba and McMillan comes in.
