It's entirely possible Essendon could boycott the NAB Cup if ASADA effected players aren't allowed to play.

If this is the case and Essendon do boycott the NAB Cup, will this effect your Essendon selections in SC?

Here's the thread via Fox Sports

Want to see Bellchambers play before any chance of selection IMO
Goddard should be ok depending on how the rest of the team is effected.
If suspensions are occur, that could open up a whole new bunch of rookies.

Thoughts?

Bunch of cowards are too scared to play GWS even in a preseason match.

Am not surprised the guys not under suspension wont play the NAB, they will have a long season covering for the rest of them

When its all backdated and the provisionally suspended players all play round one I don't see what the problem is.

Or if it all gets thrown out  ::)

Wishful thinking on my behalf. Just want this shower to be over.

*Protests by saying it's players won't play*

Yeah is seems that Essendon are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Limited game time against opposition will only disadvantage them further.
Not to mention us fantasy coaches.

No Thompson either this year.  At least there's no Nathan Tinkler like owner to make things even worse. :P

He copped his time. Now he is back. Pretty simple.

We still don't know what was taken by the players do we? That is what the tribunal is about. Until the results of the tribunal say that the players flowered up and took a banned substance he should be allowed to be coach.

This. I don't see why so many people are so angry. He copped 12 months for a shoddy program. IF and WHEN it's proved to be anything more than that, THEN I'd expect him to be gone.

I think I speak for tabs as well when I say we're not angry about it. I just think it's not a good look for Hird to be involved with the club while he is still fighting his own legal battle

I agree, but he would sue the club if they forced him out. We don't want that messy battle.

If he's going to put himself before the club to that extent, then I think that sums up exactly why you wouldn't want him coaching there. Putting himself before the club and threatening to sue if they don't accept it...

the players want him there and so do most supporters don't give a flower what other people think

Because he's actually a quality coach (supplements saga aside). He has a great relationship with all the players, communicates well, has great game-day ideas, and just knows how to get the most out of a lot of the players there. The players have their reasons for wanting them there, and does he need to move aside for everyone to move on? No, the media need to move the flower on for everyone else to move on, because everyone's beyond caring anymore.
