Flower it

Think I'll just start NicNat and Luey with Belly in the forwards

Looking at Luey's games last year and 3 NAB matches I am confident he can score 75-100 most weeks

Will lose points having him, but the 200k I save is getting me those lost points in another line anyway

The way I see it, it's essentially Goldy and Fwd Rookie vs Luey and Belly. Reckon both will score the same but I get DPP coverage and the ability to see who the standout ruck will be for me to eventually turn Luey into to

Sound right?

Reasonable strategy although Leuey won't make you tons of cash either, will be 393k by round 8 based on an 80 average. He also plays Goldy, Nic Nat, Maric & Lobbe in that stretch.

Not too concerned about how much cash he generates as silly as that might sound. I'll milk a rookie and use that 150kish profit which should be able to get me a fallen premo ruck in the 550k range so that's fine

Having looked at the NAB numbers, Martin and Luey played twice, and Luey still got enough Hit Outs considering his TOG was very low too. I'm just finding more reasons to start Luey as opposed to starting Maric or a set and forget premo

Belly also solves the F6 dilemma, it's an absolute no-brainer to pick him.

What F6 Dilemma?

There's an abundance of cheap forwards who should play

I've even considered moving Salem to F3 because there is so many of them!

Cheap being the operative word. Forward rookies will average around the 50-60 mark, Belly should nudge 80.

Doesn't really make sense. He will average more, but you're paying nearly triple the price compared to a rookie

Yes but he serves a purpose beyond points, to get him in I'll be forced to drop Simpson and bring in Geary, that's a 15 point penalty but I'll gain 20-30 points by avoiding a rookie at F6. Hogan, Lamb, Tarrant, Lonie are great cash cows but will no doubt leak points.

So this is good news for me. I have been too lazy to move  Bellcho from R2 all pre-season

For those playing Belly at R2, what's the contingency plan if a ruck goes down in the early rounds?

Here's my list of contingency plans -

1) Trade a premo forward to Ryder and bench injured ruckman (presuming no price rises have taken place)
2) Trade out injured premo ruckman for Kreuzer and pocket some cash
3) Sideways trade premo ruckman for best available
3) Trade out Belly to Kreuzer (presuming 2 price rises)
5) Cop a donut

Ryder will have to come in, still unsure if I will go down this path but I'm very lukewarm on Leuey. What it will do is give me a 6 premo midfield.

I am going to see if any rookie rucks are named. I think one of Naismith or Nank might play in the first couple of rounds with Tippett struggling to be ready for round 1. I am not sure how Sam Reid is travelling either, I haven't looked anything up to do with Reid since he got injured in that one NAB game. Worst case I bring in Ryder for maybe Jack Steven who I was looking to use for Gaz and move one of my DPP forwards to the midfield for a couple of weeks

6 premo midfield would be awesome. high risk high reward! if he can hold out till he hits max price, which you'd assume would be the 450k mark, then its success. if he goes down, your fwd structure suffers the consequence.

not a bad idea. but the whole point of tbc, in my opinion, is to have cover. if he is at r2 and either he or your r1 is a late out or cops a 1-2-3 week injury, youre forced to trade or cop a donut. if he is at f4 however, your covered if theres drama in your rucks. again, high risk high reward! *edit* or of course you could bring on your rookie ruck. but rookie rucks are looking highly unlikely. time will tell!

Tinkering with NicNat/Lycett and have Belly as FWD Cover.

All under priced and enough cash should be generated through either Lycett/Belly to use as a stepping stone into the #1 with the other being able to be used as cover for the remainder of the season.

PowerBug

F/R on Belly or Lycetf or Hale or Clarke should be utilised. Grab them, hold them all season, they sit on your bench as cover when the better players come in, as you wouldn't start them for 22 rounds.

I might just slap Belly R3 if his scores are not that exciting, back the rookies to outscore him.

Don't think I have the stones to pick Belly as R2

If he or your R1 get injured you just have to burn a trade or cop or donut. Simple, but will be extremely frustrating

Who knows, they might both play all year and not get injured  :-\

I'm not over the moon about picking Luey, but I want Belly because we have no one at R3 for cover, and I cant see the point in having 2 set and forget rucks (which may not even be Top 2-3) plus Belly - it's too much cash, so for me it's either 2 set and forgets, don't bother with Belly and trade them out if they get injured or even miss a week or two, or one premo plus Luey with Belly in the forwards for cover

I figure Luey and Belly will score the same as a premo and fwd rookie, but I get the benefits of DPP cover and time to see who the standout ruck is for me to eventually upgrade Luey to

If Luey can go 75+ each week I'll take it  :-\

I hope that works for you man, and I might be too cautious here, but if Mummy or Maric miss a week or two then sucks to be you :P

Bully

Belly only has to last 2 rounds and then the price rises kick in. After that he can be switched back to the forward line and you can pick up the best ruck on offer.
