Id the Dons just miss two games, then honestly I'll probably keep Belly and just field a rookie for the first 2 rounds

Fingers crossed he plays, or a cheap rookie bench option comes up. Having no cover is a situation I really don't want to find myself in
Why?? When you can jump on him on the bubble in round 4-5? Or bring him in early if there is an injury. No point starting him if he's not there RD1

Save's a trade by starting him. And what if I need him in rd3 or 4 before he bubbles? Not going to throw my entire structure out the window just because he misses 2 games. Obviously if its longer that changes things
And what if he spuds the first two games he's back. Belly is #1 atm, but what if Giles takes his chance and dominates the first two rounds keeping Belly out for longer. If you need him before his bubble due to injuries then you bring him in early.

Always wait and see until they're on the bubble before bringing them in. Too many things can go wrong

RaisyDaisy

Whether he spuds or not isn't really relevant

And there is no chance Giles keeps him out

Like I said, it's about saving a trade. I want him in my side 100% - he's been there all pre-season, so it just makes sense to save the trade and keep my structure in tact. Would be very hard to bring him in later, being such an awkward price

Well it is relevant. Because if he spuds then he drops in price or gets dropped from the team. If he drops in price then it'll be easier to get him in when his BE eventually bottoms out. Like I said, far safer to wait for guys to get on the bubble. It's an unnecessary risk starting him if you know he's going to miss the first 2 games

That's a bit far. Giles is a lot better than a lot of people are giving him credit for, particularly on this forum. While I'm not saying that he will keep Belly out of the side, to say he's no chance is a bit silly.

Giles might not influence Belly's score, but he's perfectly capable of matching Belly.

RaisyDaisy

It may be relevant in your eyes but not mine

He is there to provide ruck cover if one of my rucks is out. I'd rather have him then a donut, and there is just no chance he gets dropped.

As for dropping in price, bottoming out etc, again it's totally irrelevant to me because I want his ruck coverage

At the end of the day, if he misses 2 games the pro's easily outweigh the cons for me in terms of keeping him and just fielding a fwd rookie for the first 2 games

The bombers and even players like Goddard have clearly said that Belly is their number 1 ruck

If anything, people on this forum give Giles too much credit.

Like I've said, Belly has always been in my side to provide ruck cover, and if he misses the first 2 weeks then I'm happy to carry him

Drak

Giles killed it before Mummy came in and dominated

Currently looking at Mummy, NicNat (Phillips) but really don't like to pay that much for Mummy, or that much for cover
I looked at this also but they all share the same bye so went with Maric instead of mummy

Yeh hadn't put it against my bye planner yet. I'll be looking at Maric too

RaisyDaisy

I'd love to have Mummy, but I've had Maric and NicNat for a long time now. I just think they represent the best value for money and work well for the byes too

What does the bye have to do with selecting your two ruckmen?

We have the best 18 scoring now, so even if both rucks play one week, they won't necessarily be in your best 18 scores. Conversely, if both ruckmen have the same bye, it just means another 18+ players need to be playing.

RaisyDaisy

Doesn't have anything to do with the position per se, but he might have a lot more rd13 players in his team?

If not, then yes it doesn't matter as long as 18 get on the field

Because you have limited bench space in the rucks this year. So if you went with the above combo, in round 13 you immediately knock out 2 spots of your 22 to pick your best 18 from. Meaning its best 18 from 20 spots on your field. Add in all your other boys you have out, plus injuries, plus restings through byes, and its asking for trouble.

TexR74

I'm starting to favour the Nic Nat option with Belly in the forwards. Does that work? (Goldstein at R1 if it helps)

meow meow

Go with TC and Ayce at R2 and R3 or stick one up forward since they've both got F/R DPP. This is Cordy's year!
