Okay so last year i didn't have the best of years. picking unique players instead of being a sheep and winning. for example i picked Trent Mckenzie instead of David Swallow

This year, with plenty of thought i feel i can become the Undertaker and return from the dead.

But first, i need your thoughts!

Defenders: Malceski, K.Simpson, Hibberd, Seedsman, Rohan, Waters (Goddard, Newman)

Midfielders: Ablett, Fyfe, Heppell, Boak, Wells, Brayshaw, Boekhorst, Freeman (Laverd, Steele, Wagner)

Rucks: Naitinui, Leuenberger (Brooksby)

Forwards: Deledio, Goddard, Zorko, Swan, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Krakouer)

BENCH/ROOKIES WILL CHANGE ACCORDINGLY COME ROUND 1

Defence is exact same structure to me like it! Be prepared to switch rohan out though!
Don't mind mids, NVB is a must though IMO bring him in for wells
Rucks are ok, not a fan of leuy as I doubt he can exceed 100 making him not a keeper.
Forwards are pretty good, Zorko will be affected by the new arrivals. Buddy/Dusty/Dahl better options. If you want more of a POD go Dahl who should go close to 100 this year if not more.

Overall solid well balanced team, hard to make changes not knowing your salary though!

I've heard Rohan is going to take over the Malceski role which I think will make him a bit of a dark horse.

I've only got around 50k left in the bank.

Okay so here's why i have picked Wells over NVB. Yes NVB is cheaper and i know the story.

But since 2005 here is what i found to help me decide on Wells.

Nathan Van Berlo has never averaged over 85 points in a season. Were as Daniel Wells has only averaged under 85 twice (Both seasons of averages under 85 only played 7 games)

North Melbourne's game plan is more suited to give more points to Wells, they run the ball, use it well and can score very heavily.

Wells is only 1 year older than Van Berlo, Wells can get the ball in the midfield and is more of an attacking threat than Van Berlo.

Van Berlo for me isn't a consideration at all. I feel Wells can be a player this year that can average 95+ and stay in my team and save a few trades.

The cookie monster certainly doesn't have a cookie cutter team! Lots to like about it.
I've heard that Leuy will play primarily forward this year, with stefan Martin on the ball.
Not sure how thats bodes for his scoring...
I understand what you are saying about Wells and I can see why you have him but he's teased us with form over the years and I'd class him as extremely risky.  Van berlo seems to have had a role change and is cheaper so less of a risk.

The only other gripe is I don't rate Heppel much as a supercoacher, particularly as an elite midfield premo. His ball use is left wanting at times and I feel he's more suited to DT.

I think i might stick with Wells as a feel he could be a player that could decide a few games by having someone else.

Heppell was a star last year and as a fan i may be a bit bias, but think he can have an even better year this year. In 2011 when LeBron moved to Miami it was hard for him and Wade to work together but after a year it worked out. My point, i feel Watson may know that it's time to start handing over the number 1 midfielder role to Heppell. I feel he can improve his attacking game and be even better this year.

Okay so a few changes that have been bolded i think will really strengthen my team up this season.

Solid team Cookie M

Just personal think Malceski is overpriced for someone going to a new club so watch in NAB cup.  Plenty of options to downgrade to and save some cash.

With Krooz injury prone with cash generated from Malceski downgrade I would look at trying to find a playing ruck for the value. Hannath Griffen and co may fill the bill.  Like most probably hoping a rookie ruck comes through, Watch how Roos use Durdin as he may be a sound bench option.

Malceski is the only premium defender i trust, that i don't have. I think he will slot in nicely, i also feel Kreuzer will be used a lot more forward than normal because of injuries increasing his chances of scoring.

Its not a cookie-cutter team so I will give you that.

Personally I cannot see how you can have the confidence that Malceski will be worth the cash you have to pay to get him. How will the suns use him? will he cop heat from the opposition? How is the new club going to affect his output?

IMO I'd downgrade Malceski to a lesser price premo who is a proven 90+ (like Birchall for e.g) downgrade Wells who is at an awkward price to NVB and then upgrade Heppell to a super-premo.

Or maybe look at ruck cover in the forwards. Nic nat and Kreuzer is a very risky choice. Could be worth it but I would be exploring cover options.

Haven't seen Dahlhaus in many teams. I think he can maintain his average but you will be able to pick him up cheaper.
His first 3 opponent averages are: 94 vs West Coast, 50.33 vs Richmond and 63 vs Hawthorn.

Malceski - I think he'll have the same role, defenders gave him a lot of attention last year too. But Sydney were good at freeing him up anyway.

Heppell will only get better, you can say he'll get tagged more but he proved he can play and play well being tagged.

Wells has proven he can score, only averaging under 85 twice, were as NVB isn't proven, i know he's picked to make cash but that's not why i picked Wells.

It's that awkward price for rucks, that 450k-300k that you have to be so good in picking, i've put him there just until i can see someone in that area who will step up.

Again made some more changes based on suggestions, i think the addition of Smith and Gray will only make my team stronger, Bellchambers is a wait and see.

I feel now the only thing in my team barring injuries that will change will be the rookies when team's get announced come round 1.
